Thanks so much Rico. You are the best. I think it is just a matter of time before your videos explode in popularity. Darktable is complicated and such a mystery to me and you are doing a great job of showing us how to navigate through the complexity. Cheers.
Yo Rico ! You should do some of those "Edit like " only for darktable. I think it would not only be popular but it would also expose people to darktable (not many people know about it and it's a shame tbh)
I'm actually in the process of creating those! It starts with videos like: "how to create a polaroid", "how to color grade like the Matrix" etc. Great tip man!
Hey Rico, really appreciating your videos! Would you consider doing one specifically focused on sharpening methods? I'm especially interested in options for selective sharpening--Lightroom has a masking option which lets you see and adjust exactly what you're sharpening in order to avoid sharpening noise, background, etc., and I'm wondering if there are any darktable equivalents. High pass seems to be somewhat similar, but I still find it sharpens more noise than merely using the sharpening module (but the sharpening module won't let me easily see what precisely I'm sharpening). And of course there's equaliser, but again, hard to see as clearly what's going on there. Would love to hear your thoughts, and whether there's anything I'm missing!
Hey Shannon, thank you for your question! Maybe the drawn and Parametric mask can help with that, while using the modules of this video. Did this answer your question? If not, please give me an example. I'll then look into it and build a tutorial for you!
Depends on what you mean and the image that you're working with. Darktable 2.7 (Beta) has a basic settings module in which you can adjust most of these things. The modules that I use most are: Exposure White Balance Tone Curve Shadows and highlights Color zones
I really like the indoor plant you have in the background. Would you mind telling me what species it is? Also, great video! Keep up the good work Rico :)
@@RicoResolves Hi yes they are cr2 files and dark table is unable to read them. I tried on Ubuntu 16.04 as well as 18.04 on different computers with latest release of dark table however no success... It says camera profile not found.
@@RicoResolves I did check it and it's supported however I have a peculiar error and I am getting this displayed "failed to read camera white balance information from `IMG_0003.CR2' "
Thank you for your feedback Martyn! I have uploaded videos without music before but in general my audience likes it with music. That why I decided to keep it. Is the volume too high? Would it help if the volume would be lower?
@@RicoResolves Hi Rico - thanks for being in touch. No it wasn't too loud it just seemed the beat was distracting. 😊 I appreciate if general feedback is most people prefer music then that is the way forward. Best wishes again!
@@MT-zn6tc Fantastic Martyn. I'll take this into consideration. Have you watched other videos in which I use laid back hip hop/Jazz as tunes? Are those not a distracting? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that!
Cause I'm using darktable 2.7 beta. It's a custom build that one of my subscribers made (Todd Prior). I'm thinking about creating a download link for everyone, but I'll have to talk this over with him.
As always, i love to revisit your old videos and find little pearls
Man, I really appreciate your support man!

Good tutorial. Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial, Rico.
I would like to see a tutorial about contrast equalizer tool. And a tutorial with more details about color zones tool.
I could do that!

rico which would you say is your go to to increase these things ?

Maybe a video on putting a new background in gimp or adding things into the background ?
What kind of things? Background as in sky replacement? I made a video about that before!

@@RicoResolves It sure did. I'm hoping that I can get one for myself and grow it here where I live. Thanks again mate! ;)
Bought it at Ikea!
@@RicoResolves lol, we don't have those here in Vanuatu. But maybe I can order one from Ebay x)
Vanuatu? Dude that's so far away! 31h40min by plane! So awesome to see that my videos reach that part of the world!
Hi Rico, why doesn't dark table recognise canon 80d's raw files... What's the work around
Hey Chetan, thank you for contacting me. Are the cr2 files? Because darktable should be able to read those.
