Quick tip for anyone scrolling comments: I was in your place a few minutes ago. You decide to give up after the challenging 2nd measure with the 5lets into the herta. Slow down the video to 0.5x and work your way up. I went from not being able to play it to being able to record a clean rep at a faster tempo than written.
@@marcushawkinsmusic 21 hours later and I have learned 8 of these 😂😂 I wish I had had these types of videos around in 2010 when I was just realizing I was good enough to audition for and March corps, but only had access to what was on snarescience. 💪🏼 keep doing your thing og! Guarantee you lots of kids and adults getting inspired by your videos
Oh wow, I came to one of north cobb’s battery rehearsals like 2 weeks ago, I went back to this video because I wanted to learn this, did not realize that this is the guy from north Cobb, what’s up?
Feedback - for me on my device the audio & video are hopelessly out of sync which renders the lesson useless to me. That may of course just be my device/pathway whatever; just so’s you’s knows…

This guys is awesome, clean beats, good chops, hearting things a year later, and Just a nice voice
Thanks!!!
It's a beautiful day for music and a wonderful day for sound

I really like that you recognize the value in removing the accents and building them slowly against the rhythm. Great lesson and lick!
Finally, clear articulate (in every sense) teaching with bad ass beats! Thank you sir, much fun!

Do you get your style from HBCU? Not trying to generalize, just curious
Avery Bondeson I grew up watching HBCU’s but I’ve always marched and taught corps style (dci, wgi,DCA ,BOA...)
@@marcushawkinsmusic Oh awesome! I'm a DCI style tenor and bass drummer, I wish I was more familiar with HBCU style
Avery Bondeson it’s an awesome culture and way/ways of drumming!

could be a youtube thing. I haven't gotten any other comments about it being out of sync.
@@marcushawkinsmusic and today it’s in sync so just a passing anomaly. Weird. Now it’s a fabulously useful lesson - thanks 👏
@@68Bards Awesome!! I'm glad it worked out!
We need to get every hs in the is to learn traditional grip
Matched grip is objectively better. But ya'll can look nice if that's what you want
CactusFishy why is matched grip better?
Swaggy Pea easier to learn, easier to line up hands, better range of motion, and uses more focused, and broader muscle groups.

@@zhukie You can play loose without using trad. All about how you choose to approach the drum.
