- We had the pleasure of filming the world renowned Thanet based icon painter Peter Murphy's tutorial on mixing egg tempera and icon painting here at the shop. It was a wonderful experience for us here and we wanted to share it with you all so that you too can try your hand at this ancient and beautiful craft. We have tubes of Sennelier ready made egg tempera sets on sale at our Margate shop as well as jars of Sennelier pigments so you can mix your own after watching Peter's tutorial. Happy painting!
Peter Murphy is one of the best tutors of icon painting I have met. Like all truly great artists he is generous in sharing his techniques with his students and he is an inspiration to work with.
@@leeharvey8544 You must go on one of Peter's courses, Lee. You will gain so much from it. The next batch of egg stock I make will be made with white wine. Up to now I have been adding a few drops of vodka to my egg stock and also a drop of Oil of Cloves which is a preservative and makes the egg stock smell nice if Oil of Cloves is what you like :-)

"An artist will dip his brush into anything available, including their coffee or tea", is 100% true. That made me smile. I don't know how many times I dipped my ink brush into my soda when I was learning how to ink with brushes.

The word "Icon" is a Greek word and translates as "image". For the icon to have the power of guidance, defense, etc. it must be sanctified with the prayer of the Orthodox priest. There are also sorcerer and wizard icons with charms on them. The icon must be purchased only from the monastery or church and not be recieved as gift. The word "grace" translates as "the right given by Jesus Christ to priests to offer prayers of release, baptism, communion, etc.", grace can only have the priest and not a icon or anyone else.
Today in the "modern" world the sorcerers remained in every city. The akathist read by a prayer with untying prayer to St. Ciprian and St. Justine read by a priest in your name defends from all witch spells, if you are baptized orthodox. And when you intend to go to command the akathist in the church, such thoughts may appear: "Maybe tomorrow, or next week", "Maybe I'm such a freak and no one is watching me (girls or boys, if you can not find a pair, or you can for some reason speak only with the same girl or boy.)", "The life is this way with good times and bad times", " I am so(if you have impotence)". etc. These thoughts come from demons from sorcery spells because only the prayer of the priest can untie the sorcery spells and they make everything possible that you not go to church to escape from witch spells. Jesus Christ told to the apostles (which were the first priests)"I give you the right to untie everything that is tied in heaven and on earth.".
This akathist to st. Ciprian and st. Justine you can command at any orthodox church if you are baptized orthodox.
Entering (submersion 3 times with a short prayer and crossing yourself)in water springs of orthodox saints(which are near or in monasteries) give very much power and sureness to people with depression, panic attacks, Tourette sindrom, schizofrenia and other soul illnesses before getting to the eucharisty that heals all soul illnesses. There are some springs of mother(Marof God that also heal all soul illnesses. Soul illnesses can be enherited or from sins. If to cure lechery the prostatitis may disapear.
I know artists are tempted to really push their creative ideas, however I strongly suggest against painting with egg tempera. It's an old and out dated technique that has a lot of flaws, such as your paint cracking, paint pigments losing their color, and problems with the environment. Yeah sure in your room your painting might seem fine, but a decade from now and your work will slowly start to disintegrate right before your eyes. Just use oil, water color, or acrylic paint straight from the tube if you want something modern and less prone to deterioration, save your eggs.
