When I watch your video, I am so amazed to see that egg can also become an medium of art, I only think of egg as an food but now I got the idea to create a painting using a mixture of egg and water or in short "egg tempera." this is a very informative and useful video for us student to learn more about the kinds of medium's of visual arts. Thank you so much man, keep up the creativity and the good work. God bless!!

it is nice to do this egg tempera painting because It dries rapidly, and when dry it produces a smooth matte finish.

I like this Medium of Art which is one of the so-called “Egg Tempera”. I never expect that this kind of art is existing and I was amazed when our instructor introduced this to us. I didn’t even expect that it was possible to make an art paint by mixing egg yolk, dry pigment, sterilized water, and a small drop of vinegar. I hope this art would have spread further because it is really amazing and I was also amazed to discover this art.

Interesting to see you use shellac over the underpainting... I thought that shellac was generally not considered a stable varnish in fine art practices!?

Hello, I would like to ask please, for painting with egg tempera on unprimed masonite is better to attach or (stick) canvas? I appreciate an answer. Thank you very much.

it would be best to prime the Masonite with a few coats of traditional gesso. It’s a mixer of rabbit skin glue and chalk. this is a nice ground for your egg tempera to adhere too. painting tempera on canvas is really tricky and generally avoided. Although botticelli painted some of his egg tempera masterpieces on canvas, it’s a theory of mine that he used a mixture of egg tempera and oil. This would make the paint stable enough to be painted on canvas. egg tempera is a delicate paint that usually works best painted on prepared wood. sorry for the long winded response but I hope this helps

The camera needs to be the view of the artist.

Kind of ironic that you chose to paint Jan van Eyck Using tempera

yes museums do need to actually start giving good career artists and realists opportunities instead of finding them through universities where most of them can't even draw or paint properly. You dont learn how to paint and draw well through a degree program, it turns out horrible artists who draw stiff and unnaturally

Devin Michael Roberts my wife went to a fine art school and you wouldn’t believe that none of the teachers could draw or paint.
All the students work was lifeless and ofcourse they rebelled by trying to imitate Rauschenberg instead, because after seeing their life drawing and painting skills weren’t progressing they rebelled to modernism.
      Shame
I like Rauschenberg btw, however my point is a lot of young artists rebel to that style because they think life drawing and realism is unobtainable. That’s the teacher’s fault.

@@nickfanzo The only proper abstract artist is one with a foundation in principles. None of the universities teach the principles well. Or at least very few do You have to know the rules to break them. You can't fool people with music like these professors can with visual art. If you dont learn your musical scales and try to break the rules you create bad music. People can tell right away. The only people who can tell if art is bad or improper or not informed are other artists. I look at 99 percent of the establishment artists out there in NY and LA and they are horrid. Horrible con artists. I am a realist painter, I do very well actually and i LOVE abstract art and do a lot of abstract myself. Even though myself and many of my peers have had magazine articles and press, collectors around the world etc. none of these institutions ever actually reach out to us or anyone we know.. They go through the establishment to these hacks.

Devin Michael Roberts I agree, I love abstraction also but fundamentals are needed
