- Super Rare Episode of the Jean Arthur show, which only ran for 12 episodes on CBS in 1966. From a very faded network print. I have tried to make it look as good as I can. Complete with CBS "In Color" promotion on the beginning.

What a rare treat to see Jean Arthur's extremely short lived tv series. It was really not worthy of this amazingly talented comic actress. She does her best with the poor material and looks incredibly youthful here. If anyone is viewing this and does not know Ms Arthur's film work, go seek out her films of the 30s and 40s, you are in for a treat. In any case, many thanks for uploading!
It's hard to believe now that the networks actually had a special projector that they used to air these shows. Later they put all filmed shows on video tape for the airings. This is a treasure for it's historic value.
Lovely to see Jean again jimi
Amazing Jean Arthur
Always nice to see more Jean Arthur
What she's in her 60's here ??? Still Gorgeous. Damn, why did'nt she & Cary Grant pull off one last Movie ????
Originally telecast on October 10, 1966.
And don't forget the fabulous Imperial by Chrysler corporation!
I heard a little about this show. Thanks for posting this rare gem.
For the love of dogs love and respect to the lovely Jean j
here's someone in the know!
Omg, she's such a gemm , ☺️🌈
Thanks. Wish there were more episodes.
Me too. I was surprised to find an episode in the big pile of 16mm prints I bought. At least there are 2 of the 12 to enjoy on UA-cam.
@@ShadowsOnTheScreenfascinating!
Where did you find 16mm prints?
Someone on Facebook was cleaning out a hoarder pile. Half of the prints had completely rotted. I saved what I could!
I so wish that we could get this show on DVD or Blu-ray.
Plot was more reflective of 1866 than 1966.
Jean is one of my favorites. She always had a pretty smile, she really did some acting in this dreck lol
She looked fantastic at age 66! Wow.
The premise of this particular episode seems similar to a Lucy Show plot at the time . A guest star and the star in a flimsy disguise for some odd purpose .
A reason to drag out the old war horses and play dress up.
they reused sets so why not ideas lol, Jean Arthurs apartment was later reused for Shelley Winters apartment when she guest starred on Here's Lucy and who knows how many orher shows.
Lucy filmed her series at Universal City from 1971 through '74, so don't be surprised.
If this was considered a comedy somehow the comedy was left out of the show.
And Si Rose wrote better scripts for "McHALE'S NAVY" than this.
5:03- "'THE JEAN ARTHUR SHOW' is brought to you by........INSTANT MAXWELL HOUSE! 'Good To the Last Drop'! GAINES-BURGERS! 'The Canned Dog Food Without the Can'! TANG! The instant breakfast drink! Three fine products of *GENERAL FOODS!"*
Mr. Grauman , General Foods and CBS seemed to have a tight relationship back in those days . Poor ABC seemed to be hawking Ralston--Purina products back in the old days .
For some reason, General Foods preferred posting most of their sponsored programs on CBS from the late '40s through the early 1970's. They were talked into sponsoring Jean's series because she was still considered a "star"- and the pilot episode [telecast as the *last* of the series] was good. After 12 episodes, they "bailed out", and the show ended.

Love Jean Arthur in the 30's Screwball comedies and in "Shane", but this is really unwatchable .
Thanks for watching it anyway!
What a relic ... kinda whack.
