Number one other channel I watch is Mortske repair. Other then that IF I have free time I try and catch the guys at RESTORED and VGG.
Between working a full time, working every day I’m off from my full time, recording, editing, networking, AND having a family with 3 kiddos, well believe it or not I don’t have a ton of time to actually watch UA-cam lol.

That Datsun is in great condition, especially sitting outside for 24 years. Any Datsun sold from new to the U.K. was just a pile of rusting dust within a year . . . and that was just the ones in the garages!

Hey! That is the besting running engine I have ever seen ... with nothing holding the carb onto the intake but gravity! Probably will smoke less when the mud dobber’s nest all dissolve into the oil, then it gets changed! Seriously though, I love that little truck, right down to the electric green color! Can’t believe how well it held up sitting in the yard all those years! I vote keep it original! Nothing you throw into it is gonna be any tougher than that little Datsun motor. They last forever!

My first car was a 1973 Datsun pickup like this. I didn't go too far into the engine and stuff, but I did replace the water pump, fan, starter and a few other various things. Always had electrical issues. If I put the headlights on high, it would blow the fuse and none of the lights would work. To this day, I always think about that when I turn on the high beams on a car. Engine itself ran great though, until I wrecked it on an icy bridge. Thanks for the vid, a good trip down memory lane.

    Holy crap. So many memories!
I had a '71 520 with the L16(?) I bought from my grandfather for $500. She sounded a bit like that one with the tappy tap valve (#2 I believe). Well, until I found a 1800SSS motor in a junk yard.
The truck was totaled a few months later but I bought it back from the Ins company for $185 and pulled the motor. Wrecking yard gave me $150 for the rest . Bought an '84 Nissan (in late 83) with the ins money and drove it from the dealer to the garage where she was promptly lowered enough to chip the porcelain lane buttons when changing lanes in some parts of the city.
    That 1800SSS motor went into a 510.
Enough of my reminiscing... Very enjoyable video!

Seeing the carb jump up like that reminded me of the movie Airplane, when he's fighting the stick coming in for a landing. LMAO
Great revival sir, reminds me of the '71 510 I had back in 1990. I loved that car up until it became a sandwich, courtesy of a brain-dead 16-year-old girl that rear-ended me. Oh well...
I'm new to the channel, and I did subscribe. Now to go back and look at the junkyard walkthrough for this truck.

    It deserves to survive.

You can break a valve free by taking rope and stuffing it down a plug hole and bar it over while having someone hammer on the valve like you were. I seen it when l worked at the airport, it does work!
