I Found An 1863 "Union For Ever" Patriotic Token!!! Metal Detecting

- While metal detecting for interesting artifacts in the river with my Garrett AT Max metal detector, I found a good number of Civil War bullets and a really cool Civil War sutlers token. This is a coin that Yankee soldiers would have used in place of government issued coins. It says "Union For Ever" and has the date 1864. They are commonly called "patriotic tokens". I also find a very interesting Minie ball that was converted into a musket nipple protector. Nipple protectors were an Army issued item and made of brass and steel. If a soldier lost his, he might make one out of lead like this one. It was used to keep dirt and moisture from getting into the musket powder chamber while in use. I also stop at and talk about an American Indian fish trap that was in the river. It may be thousands of years old. I hope you like my video and hope you click the "like' button. Until the next time...

Recovering from a heart operation...just over a week ago; just persuaded my best mate to build me a new computer...couple of days back...so it's a fresh start in loads of ways...so subscribed...loving it so far...
Great video Beau. Keep 'em coming! Love these longer adventures and the Native American fish weir at 29:35!
Chigger the digger is King of the river, woo hoo! He's diggin' and riggin' a fine video or two! Thanks for the fun, when all's said and done, you're the best, with a great point of view!
Thanks for all the fun, it's always enjoyable to go on another adventure with you! MOARRRR!
Thanks so much for bringing us along on your awesome treasure hunts. I guess it's been 10 years of watching and your videos are just as wonderful as ever. You are the man! I wish I lived closer to the civil war sites!! I have learned so much from you. You inspire me to be a better treasure hunter. Thanks again man.
Great video Beau. That token was quite a find. I think I enjoy the civil war adventures the most. Of course, when you find caves, well, that's the most fun!
Jim Griffiths I wonder if chigg ever went back to that cave he was digging out? It was a while back
I just imagine to be one of those guys around 9:40: you see some wild looking guy grubbing in the mud down in the river, who is also trying to hide from you view at all costs and then secretly observes you from the bushes xD
I was thinking the same thing! Very suspicious behavior - LOL ;-)
Lmao🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like watching these because of the awesome finds and positive attitude. Keep up the good work!
7:01 "shhh. This is our spot, not theirs." I died. You're awesome.
As much as it's exciting to see your finds, it's so interesting learning about them. Thanks for always describing where and how things were used, like the nipple protector. Rock on Chiggs!
I am an addicted subscriber. Your vids are so fascinating. You explain so many interesting facts. Is this "on the job" knowledge? I suspect you read a LOT about history and nature. Some detecting folks just aim camera, dig, show with little explanation. Not you! Plus you use so many avenues to detect, water, sites, etc. absolutely par excellence! Thank you, Chigg! HH!
Nice one Beau I mean ( the chigga ) great information about the bullets in the water and how the Indians caught the fish, haha your funny hiding in the water :) best wishes from your friend across the pond :)
Gotta admit if I saw you peering out at me behind some bushes I'd be pretty freaked out.
I'm catching up on a bunch of your vids after being away from UA-cam for a bit. I always enjoy your demonstrations of things like the fish weir. Another thing that struck me again is how amazingly clear the water can be! I know it's not always that way, so I enjoy it when it is. Thanks for the hard work you put into your videos.
Hey Beau, enjoyed your video, as always! I especially like it when you come across Indian Fishing Wiers! I'm Native American (Coushatta), and I love anything related to any indigenous tribe. That Union token was an awesome find, too. It's great that you can save all the Civil War artifacts that you can. I really love all the stuff you find, especially Union relics! I live in East Texas, and I'm a devoted fan of yours, Chris, and Michael's. I'm never bored with any of you guy's videos. And, I love seeing the wildlife and beautiful scenery in your videos. I hope you will have another Garret machine giveaway for Christmas. I would love to try to win. Chigg, You Rock! 🤘🏻
You just made my day better, had a pretty rough day. Thanks for beeing here :)
What a sweet hammer. I do love it when you find something old. Whoo hoo! I love that chain too.
Hey Beau, that was the metal detecting paparazzi trying to track you down, glad you got away:) Last weekend I was at a civil war reenactment in Andersonville Ga and it reminded me again how tough it was for those guys back then. Love your videos keep it up.
Deepsouthdiggers
I have often thought of heading down to that reenactment. I'll try for next year. I don't think it's that far away. I see signs advertising it.
Jill Richard I would definitely recommend it, they have been doing this reenactment for 41 years now so the setting is very authentic. The good thing is that it's only a 10 minute drive for me:)
Thank you for sharing about the Indian fish weir. I learn something new with just about every video.
Went from watching magnet fishing videos to getting addicted to you man. I have watched so many of your videos now.
Love that wagon hammer- very cool!
Hi Beau, you find the prettiest places, shame you lost some bullets but congrats on the token. xx
I am always looking forward to your next video. Always excited to see what you find!
Very cool video, awesome finds!!
Great hunt my friend AT max does a great job as does the guy swinging it lol enjoyed the vid as always TC HH
Man I just can’t stop watching your videos!
Saw ForgottenWeapons cover the confederate used Whitworth sniper rifle earlier today, fascinating old piece of engineering that used hexagonal .451 to great accuracy. If you find a bullet from the few used in the war it would be lightning striking twice into a goldmine followed by a meteor.
Just Stumbled upon your channel recently and OMG I can't stop watching your always finding all these cool things!
Love your videos from Charleston, WV
Same from Peruville NY
And Clemson, SC
Burlington, NC
Love the fish wear !👍👍👍
I think the reason the modern and old bullets and sinkers all are found in the same place is because the water stratifies the heavier objects during a torrent. The water doesn't care how old it is, just how heavy the object is that it has to carry. Great vid! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome finds on the 1864 token and Wagon Hammer!
Thanks Beau. I've been subscribed to you since 2013, and somehow never heard the Indian fishing story. That was cool!
Great video Chigg =) Loving the AT pointer tips and tricks =)
Excellent video , start to finish !
I have learned so many things from your videos, thank you
I wish someone would let you detect some of DC's historical areas, like the front yard of the White House, grass around Washington Monument, etc.... you are so completely respectful and one of the best I've ever seen. We love some NuggetNoggin as well but I think you are at the perfect age and point of experience.
4 river treasure videos in 4 days!! Wooo
Always entertaining and informative bideos!!!
Awesome video as always Chigg!!
A couple of nice finds, especially the token, and I think the hammer is just neat. But hey I even enjoy the videos where you find a whole bunch of nothin. It's just fun to be on an adventure with the Chig.
Hello Beau! Nice hunt thank you!!!
Belo achado. Parabéns. 🐯
Great video such addictive viewing as always keep them coming GL&HH
I got an idea about the on-lookers! Take a roll of toilet paper and shrink wrap it so it's water proof but no one can tell. Get a nice pair of light tan shorts (tan less rump color). When they come around asking what you're up to, just bend at the knees, grab that water proof roll and look right at 'em. Tell 'em that with a little courtesy you can finish playing catch and release of a brown trout and talk their ears off but right now you're in the middle of something. Now I'm at a loss for what to do about the tee shirt that says you own about ten metal detectors but you can figure that out on your own. They won't stick around for long shake your hand. stay safe
Can always count on you for a great video Thank you!!
Never knew I wanted a mokai before this.
Great finds Chiggy!, I like the hammer and the token but that chain might be from a slave that got away! .. I'm always hoping you'll find some gold nuggets while you're out there!..lol
Thank you Steve!, I'll check it out. But I was hoping he made a find in the creeks and rivers or bodies of water in the lower 48 that he's searching now!..
LOVED this one. Sharing on my FB page!
Love the videos Beau. I was wondering if you have or would be willing to show us some of the books you have in your collection? Research purposes. You mentioned in this video about relic books. Maybe show some of the other books. Thanks for all you do.
Awesome!! I’ve found one before too!
Great video, learned a lot!
Nice hunt. Love that token.
I wanna make it down your way and go chigg hunting paparazzi style!
I heard somewhere that on the Delaware River, dams are forbidden by law, with the exception of eel weirs.
Man I love the stuff you find. When ever I find something great I don't have my camera. But I am.on a badger hunt hopefully I find him
Hiding in the bushes with Beau😉
Very nice video.
I totally get it but I think it's hilarious when you video while you're hiding from people 😁. I do it too but I just know I must look suspicious when I'm hiding...definitely need to work on my poker face. 😎
We used to have eels in our rivers by the hundreds of millions. Dams were the worst for them. In my area they would swim up the Chesapeake bay then Susquehanna river and distributed through out PA . Dams on the lower Susky wiped them out.
That was fun, Moar!
Time for a ghillie suit.
Thanks for cleaning our world thumbs up my friend
I found that same token earlier this year!
Lol 😂 hiding makes it look like you’re creepin’
I found my first ring today and a 5 cent Canadian coin 1890
Nice! Congrats!!!
Those Tokens Amazing!...
first 5 seconds chig looks like 007 going on a mission
Just found one kinda like that one and has indentations identical to those. Cool finds
Always good stuff
Mr. Chigger, I found a interesting find while magnet fishing. I would love to send you a picture and see if you could help identify it.
Haha at it again i see great video keep them coming
I was waiting for your video
So far the max has been a great detector in land and water..Taking me a little time to adjust to the sounds that are different from the at pro. It is a sensitive machine.
Iffy Signals
Mine arrived today from the store that Aquachigger recommends. It's still in the box due to a sick day from work, though.
Great vid!!
lovely token congrats
I enjoyed the indian fishing story
Another awesome video..so I'm passing down my techenics 4000 to my kids and I'm looking at the Garret ace400 should I wait a bit longer and save the extra for the ATpro or is the Ace400 decent enough machine for an amateur hunter? Any input is welcome! Thank you.
Fun video!
Awsome find
Hey chigg, I recently got the Garrett AT pro. Would you be able to post a video to explain some of the functions of it? The AT MAX and PRO seem similar enough
I have a few civil war tokens, I love them
Hey Beau, I'd love to see you talk a bit about your boat. I have 2 standard kayaks, a single seater and a 2 seater, but nothing I can imaging putting a motor on. I'd like to find out the model of boat and motor you use. Seems nice to get into shallow water with and can go quick enough. So let me know if you have a video where you give that type of info, or please consider putting something like that together... inquiring minds.... also, a virtual handshake to another veteran (I'm retired Air Force).
As always great video Beau! Gotta a question for you I see you use the AT Max and the AT Pro and the AT gold in your videos which do you like the most? I'm thinking of buying a detector and would like some insight on them. Thanks!
Sharing your knowledge on items and historical backgrounds is a real draw.
Dumbfounded at how many personal items people in rafts, kayaks and canoes lose on rivers.
What do you do with the sinkers? i would love to buy them off you!
Sinkers now a days are really expensive
I would love to dig with you sometime. I'm next to Harper's ferry WV
Sometimes you find beer cans in groups too. They’re called six packs. Don’t tell those people or they’ll come over here. P.S. That was a Civil War hammer used to drive Civil War nails in to Civil War boards.
Have you considered metal detecting at Jamestown VA or on old mine tailings ?
Beau could you do a vid on other cheaper but good metal detectors and pin pointers? I had saw one on another channel I liked and it had an attached pinpointer. I thought it was an old machine I looked on eBay and wow 2k for the machine. I looked at Walmart ant the cheapest I saw was around $200. For me $100 is a huge investment for me. Ik the more you spend on something usually the better it is. Thanks in advance.
What machine did you get?
@@jell-oputin8036 never got around to it and life/health got in the way. was thinking at the time some walmart detector and pin pointer.
@@Brandewey well man if you get the Chance you can pick up a bounty hunter quick silver on eBay for 80-120 bucks and a fordoc pin pointer for around 30 On Amazon. I would definitely buy both if you ever get after it. definitely a fun hobby during these crazy days we are living in . Take care an god bless ya.👍🏼
Nice!
Be vewy, vewy quiet.Another nice day and productive!
The aquachigger hiding in the bushes like a real chigger. Does he bite?
Thanks man
Kind of odd that token says "Union For Ever" since "Forever" is one word.
Duck Landes Look at a lot of old news papers and stuff from the time. Spelling wasn’t so important as long as you got the point across
Its not that odd when you remember English didnt even have a set standard for spelling and grammar until sometime in the 1800s (forget when exactly) Its pretty fun reading the writings of the founding fathers and coming across words that are spelled totally wrong, and you realize they basically were making it up as they went lol.
Beau I found one those tokens in my pocket change the other day
Where do you get your cut proof gloves? None of my local hardware stores seem to carry any.
I'm starting to resent my carrot pin pointer. Sometimes it takes a couple of clicks to turn it off. I suppose the mute function comes in handy at times, but I think I still prefer the old black Garrett pin pointers
Don't worry about the fishermen, you're just looking for hellgramites
The shoe looked like an oxen shoe, an ox shoe is a two part shoe, one for each side of the hoof.
