Extortion in BNS - Section 308 - Easy explanation

According to Section 308 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, extortion is defined as intentionally putting someone in fear of injury to themselves or others, and then dishonestly inducing them. This includes putting someone in fear of being accused of committing an offense that could result in death, life imprisonment, or up to ten years in prison. It also includes attempting to induce someone else to commit such an offense. The punishment for extortion is up to ten years in prison, plus a fine.
