It would be interesting if you make new series - ''Historical Geography". For example like Holy Roman empire (which was not holy, neither Roman nor empire), Ottoman empire, Roman Empire,USSR,British empire,Nazi Germany and etc.
It would kinda be pointless,since only the owners of the land changed and not the land.Plus it would take almost 5 years until he finishes those 193 countries
Personally id agree that it wasn't any of the three but the purpose that the country was made for fits the title perfectly as the HRE was supposed to be the unifying force (along with the Catholic Church) after the fall of The W.Roman Empire centuries earlier. The only problem is that the HRE never centralized power (or they were not good at centralizing it) and by the time the reformation divided Europe even further the emperor was at that point mostly a figure head than a ruler.

Just a point on the 'Scottish money' thing.... it's not actually it's own money. It's still the pound sterling, but it is printed in Scotland by the Royal bank of Scotland rather than at The Bank of England in London, England like the rest of the UK's money is.
Money minted and printed in both places can be used interchangeably in all 5 constituent parts of the UK, because it is the SAME MONEY

Political Geography:
The Federal Kingdom of Endarria! It's a huge-sized country in Europan, their currency is the Endarrian Krouss (say Kr-oW-tSS) they use the 110 volt plug outlet, and they drive on the right side of the road (unless the annual Road-Switching ceremony happens every summer solstice.) The three biggest cities in FKE are Ujanbatra, Aminicrak, and HC City. Let's just get straight into this one, shall we? The country has about 368 million people, and is the most populated country in the world of Aerth, with a majority 68% being 'Endarrian', with another 22% Scandinavian, and the final 20% is a mix of hundreds of ethnic minorities. But ummm......

I don't think Scotland has a different currency than England, I believe it's just printed by a different bank. Not sure, though.

ialeixo84 - Everywhere in England accepts Scottish notes. It's just not that common in England so sometimes shop assistants having never seen it before say they can't accept it. If you really want to though and and insist they will eventually discover they can accept them.
Not that it significantly affects the order, but São Tomé & Príncipe actually DOES have an English translation, which is “Saint Thomas & Prince”. However, the only country that this would affect in terms of alphabetical order is Saint Vincent & The Grenadines. And it’s not like a lot of people would complain about it given how small both countries are, so I’m sure it’s not a big deal at all.

I'm so glad to find this series and your channel. Geography is one of my favorite subjects (and has been for a long time due to my fascination with maps when I was little) and I want to create a fun interactive handheld device with info, maps, pictures and even games called the "Geo-Ball" with essentially the same idea/info as your videos. This is also like the idea of How the States Got their Shapes but now it's "How the Countries Got Their Shapes" which is what I've been wanting for someone to do something like

Me Me ASEAN is like the EU but it's not a Union like the EU. It's more of an Alliance of South-East Asian nations and act more like the EU when is was still in the 1970/1980's.
ASEAN includes: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thiland and Vietnam.
At the moment, they're still trying to integrate all of the South East Asian Economies together by making trading and the movement of people easier :)

Well, you say that, but it might not stay that way for long. After the Scottish Independence Referendum in 2014, the Scottish Nationalist Party (which supports Scottish independence) absolutely swept the general election in Scotland. And when the EU Referendum came, and the UK obviously voted to leave, Soctland's support for staying in the EU was greater than their support for staying in the UK (Independence referendum was 55%/45%, but EU referendum was 62%/38%). So maybe Scotland will become independent after all.

Scotland does NOT have it's own currency. They print their own bank notes (maybe coins too? not sure) but they use pound sterling like the rest of the UK.

As a Macedonian, I can say that no matter what he labels it somebody will be offended. Macedonians are offended by the name FYROM, and Greeks are offended but the term "Macedonia".
I think he should label it "FYR Macedonia" and put it with the "M" section.
But the proper reason is that it is recognized as FYROM by the UN and he follows the list of the UN

I think many people in the comment section don't fully appreciate the amount of work you put into these videos. Many people here are just arguing about countries linked with some historical controversy (for example Palestine, Kosovo, Taiwan, etc.) and they don't care at all that doing all the research about the countries takes lot of effort and your time. I really like to watch your videos Paul, and see, I don't even write these things into comment sections regurarily, simply cuz I'm lazy. But your videos are both educational, interesting and funny, and believe it or not - it's very extraordinary here in UA-cam community. There's lots and lots of stupid mainstream content (I mean for example those challenges, "Top 10 Facts about..." and things like that) that's common in that "popular" section of UA-camrs with milions of subscribers; they don't put that amount of effort in their videos like you do. I'm just glad that I'm not the only huge geography nerd here in UA-cam :) Keep up the good work. I hope you'll do your best with my home countries, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

What proof exactly do you want? People always call their country however they like. Israel is full of white Jews and they still call it Israel. Egypt is full of Arabs and they still call it Egypt. Bulgaria is full of Slavs and they still call it Bulgaria.
Nation states didn't even exist before 17. century. And I find it funny how country which was one and half millennium part of Roman empire, almost half of millennium part of Ottoman empire to speak about direct roots to some city states which have absolutely nothing in common with them, but the name.
And in the same time fighting against another country because they do the same thing.

If you put Macedonia under F for "FYROM," and you're at the same time trying to avoid conflict you're probably making a huge mistake. You don't even realize the amount of people you're going to offend by this. Call the country whatever you want, but put it under "M." When you can make an exception for Kosovo, why not also make for Macedonia which is recognized under her Constitutional name by more than 140 sovereign states. So, nearly all countries that have diplomatic relations with the country call it by the name "Macedonia." Again, put it under "M"!
