I have Azuma, it is quite fun. But this video makes me wonder, will Wargaming implement the reject 3x2 356mm gun version of this ship? I think it would give it a similar play style to Siegfried.
Exactly would have imagine if she make it to the war and she can fight toe to toe with the Allied ships even to there Battleships, because of her great armor.
Have done it for shit and giggles. It has awesome DMG(like no other secondary battery stands even close) output but flar arcs and poor firing angles prevent them from being actually useful. Had they had a reasonable range(and accuracy since AI gunners are expensive in a shells per casualtie basis) they would be a really nice ship to chase DDs and CA/CL.
"Recreate ships with historical accuracy" Yeah okay there bub, meanwhile some battleships have super accuracy and others can't hit the broadside of an island for no reason.
If Wargaming had some plans with Avatar the Last Airbender teams, it would've been cool to have the Fire Nation Empire Class Ship be put in the game as a premium ship that everybody could use. And perhaps even naming, and panting some of the warships with Avatar names, and skins! Like the Yamato can become the Ozai, the Azuma can be Azula, Zuko can be any powerful Japanese Cruiser. And the other characters I don't know lol
For me it's Yoshino. That 30mm deck is still valuable and those torps can cause some surprising devastation and be invaluable in brawls/cyclones. Asuma still gets the benefits of being T9 though, but in that case I'd rather take one of the other super cruisers...
WW2 Japanese: Let's weaken our enemy in the cover of the night! British and American navy: Laugh in radar. TBH, Italians tryed the same, and where are their ships now.
In the early part of the war, it worked perfectly to japanese navy. There were victorious night attack against US ships, but then morning come, and expecting US carrier based planes they retreated before strike the supply ships, bad for the japanese, there were no USN carrier nearby, so they could finish what they started.
@@V-V1875-h 3 twin 14 inch guns wouldn't get any decent sales figures at t9 where there is an option that has albeit smaller guns but more of them, what would you pick more guns of a smaller calibre or less guns of slightly bigger calibre?
@@admiralateran2135 you make a valid point, but Sieg actually had decent armour and albeit only slightly bigger guns they are still bigger, personally I'd rather pick up a ship with 3 more guns that are only a few inches smaller, more shells greater chance of hitting the target. At the end of the day t8 or t9 would both work that's why I said maybe t8, but as we already have a t9 and t10 variant who would want another of the same ship at the same tier but with less guns, I was thinking of a way to make it more spread out amongst the tiers. 🙂
Yes, you can counter Alaska easily if you angle, the best part of the ship is the 30° angle where you can use all 3 turrents and bounce incoming shells.
@@lost4356 no, Alaska cannot citadel Azuma while shooting from the stern, where can use the 3 turrents at a really sharp angle, yu meang people who use Azuma for shoot frrom a bow position, is the worse you can do.
Very nice overview... Very engaging. Fabulous graphics. At 3:18 the illustration shows the rudder. To my way of seeing things, Japanese designers erred by making it too small, and only one versus dual. With a large vessel you need something to push against the water if you want to turn rapidly. Any ship that's destined for combat needs every maneuvering advantage it can get.
Depends on weather: in clear weather Japaneese B-65 would've won due to powerful HE, making unarmored bow and stern of Alaska to flood even due to near-misses and break apart if Japaneese 310mm HE hit directly. Also unarmored USN superstructures, rangefinders and radars would suffer due to the same 310mm HE reason. USN HE were not as powerful, so their only hope would've been penetrating B-65 deck by USN superheavy AP shells and either taking out mashinery, either detonating the ammunition. While at night or in bad weather, Alaska would've won due to much better radar, which would allow to land shells at B-65, receiving almost nothing in return as Japaneese radars were kinda trash compared to USN ones
This ship and Yoshino have ridiculous low health pools in comparison to other ships of the type, not to even mention the super low armor and reduced weight AP ammuniton.
@@lexmaximaguy8788 Yoshino also gets some extra range on the guns and shorter reload. And 30 mm midship plating that doesn't really improve citadel protection but makes 406s less likely to do fullpens at least.
