  • It seems no one is safe from IRS scammers... not even the police! Officer Stief of the Midland Police Department in Texas says that he received a call from someone pretending to be the IRS. The person on the phone told the cop that he owed money and if he didn’t pay he would be arrested.

I got one of the IRS scammer calls saying I owed taxes and had to pay in iTunes gift cards. I listened and played along acting as if getting all worked up about being arrested. Acted more and more upset and kept saying I can’t go back to jail. I He kept telling me how would be “arrest” by police if I didn’t take care if this soon, so he could stop the warrant.
I Kept it up as long as I could saying I got my gun now, and if you are sending someone to arrest me, and I’m going back to jail I would kill myself first, I can’t afford to pay, and I can’t do more time in jail, I’d rather die, not go to jail....... He just kept asking for payment and I kept saying I can’t go to jail... I finally told him got my gun ready, (as I walked out to my garage)...lit a fire cracker and went it went off, I made a dropped the phone noise and left the line open......There was a bunch of gibberish on the line, then they hung up. Oh, ya...by the way, nobody’s come yet, I assume the “IRS” thinks I’m I’m still lying dead on the floor, so there’s no “body” to arrest....LOL.

Remember the old "grandpa, I'm in jail" scam? My dad got one of those and it was pretty funny.
"Hello Grandpa? This is your grandson. I was arrested for drunk driving in Toronto, and I need $1000 for bail." Very heavy Pakistani accent.
My dad doesn't actually have any grandsons, just three granddaughters...well anyway, he decided to play along...
"Is this Joe?" (Joe is actually his son-in-law, who wasn't really named Joe but was sitting in his living room.)
"Yes, yes, this is Joe. I need you to send me $1000."
Dad yells out at the top of his lungs, "Joe, are you in jail in Toronto?"
Joe yells back, "No, not today."
Dad tells the scammer, "Joe, I've decided to let you rot in jail." Click.

Right now in Greece, this type of scam is raging the last 2-3 years. Bulgarian, gypsy and greek gangs have their members call people and say stuff like "Moooom I had a car accident and I hurt someone,I need money" or "It's me your daughter in-law,they arrested me,I need some money to get out" or "Sir,your son has had an accident and needs some money for expenses,we are a policeman to collect an amount of money immidiately" etc etc. They usually panic people by using women who cry loudly and old people fall for it a lot of times. Years ago, I received a scammer call from a man claiming to be in Australia saying I had won the lottery and needed to send some money. His accent wasn’t Australian & of course I knew it was a scam. Before he could say anything else, I acted all excited about my win, but quickly took over the conversation. I asked him if he knew Steve Irwin. He said that he did. I began to talk about being a big fan, recounting hi-lights from my favorite episodes. I kept him on the line for 20 minutes, finally wrapping it up with asking him to tell Steve I said “Hello” to which he replied “yes”. I just got 2 voice messages the other day from someone who basically said to call their 800# or I would be immediately arrested by the sheriff. When I was in the mood, I called the number (blocking my own number) because I wanted to play with them. Well gosh--I got that trill and a message saying, "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." Later I tried one more time and it said the number was not in service. Hahaha! Hey, I tried. Friends, be very careful when you get scammer calls. There is one scam where they call you and immediately say, "Can you hear me?" If you say "Yes", then they have your YES recorded and use that as your approval for some scam. So, I block their numbers, of course. Be aware.

I got a call too. I prepare taxes so I found it hilarious, but also scary for those who are ignorant to how the IRS works. He told me I owed $2700 over the course of 3 years tax returns (2010 - 2013). I first asked him to confirm my filing status, my full name, social security number and birth date. He said he didn't have access to that information. I asked him how he knew who he was talking with if he couldn't verify if I was indeed the delinquent taxpayer. He said he verified me by the phone number. I then proceeded to tell him that when I was 20 years old, I won 2.3 million dollars in the lottery, and I've never held a job. I told him I took the lump sum payment so that I would never have to pay taxes again in my life, (which of course we know that's not true). He had zero knowledge of our tax system. He was in awe that I had so much money. I had a great time knowing that he knew he'd never get a cent of that money!

Sometimes they have your name, and the last 4 digits of your SSN. Ask them something like what was the amount on line 14 of my 2018 Schedule K? Of course they won’t have that, especially since most people don’t file that form, but it’s fun to listen to them try to weasel out of answering it.

I had my tape recorder ready when I called them back to ask questions. I kept the young man talking for at least 10 minutes at taping it all because I had the phone on speaker phone. When I was done I asked if I could say just one thing because they kept telling me not to interrupt them. I told him I was very thankful that they allowed me to talk to him for the 10 minutes I needed to have him long enough for voice recognition and that I would be taking the tape to the police department. I then added to the gentleman to whom I was speaking that it might be a good idea if he got a job that was a little bit more legal because he could end up in jail himself. He thanked me. LOL and by the way, I did play him back a little of it so just to prove that I really had taped him.

Or just say random things like " My husband is dead !' or " I can't find my dog, can you help me look for my dog ?'. They get real irritated before they hang up ahaha
The thing about f*cking with them is sometimes it gets you on a Call Even More list, as revenge. One day I had 7 calls from the same scam place, and another 6 in the next 2 days. I've even had calls at off-hours, like 4;30am or 11pm

A typical problem for a scam centre employee to encounter! His/her boss read the text that had to be repeated, because the scam centre employee didn't understand a word of what was written, but could "say it after me"... The boss read "a legal action", making a mistake that is prevalent in, at least, India, and pronouncing it as "allegal action". When the scam centre goes for the luxury model employee they end up with someone who can read the text correctly because they understand it.
Mistakes like that are great warning signs that there is something abnormal going on. But anyone receiving a call like this should be aware that no government agency or utility will make a first move against a citizen with a phone call asking for immediate payment. Finally, your latest bill from whatever body is relevant will show all the ways you are able to make a payment. If you are behind in your payments, and asked to do anything unusual hang up. Then call the body in question, just to be sure...
I did have a scam-call, but my telephone identified it as a call from a foreign country, so I told the guy he would have to stay on the line for half an hour as my partner and I were about to start having sex. At which point the call was terminated and I blocked the caller's number from ever getting through to me again.
      Bliss...
A friend insists that she had a call supposedly from an "allegater", working in an "allegations service". Unfortunate initiative? Something in the Gatorade?

I'm on the do not call list, but that never stops the scammers and the telemarketers who call multiple times a day are even worse. @@Palmetto-J The Law of Karma is equivalent to Newton's Third Law of Motion: Simply put, this law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Although the word karma is not used in the bible, there are many biblical quotes that prove that the authors understood the concept of karma: "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." " For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil." Christianity includes the Law of Karma, perhaps using different vocabulary, in its teaching, I have concluded.

@@elizabethblane201 yeah we're all familiar with the laws of science. But science laws do not triumph over what was already established before the foundation of the earth. The word Karma would not found in the bible as that it is Hindu originated from gods meaning a person will have a good or bad life according to their deeds. Christianity recognizes it as reaping what you sow. Science proves of a Creator not the other way around.
