Well, I used to put on the accent of whoever originally sang the song I sang, but after listening to this band for a couple of years, I started singing Scottish to everything by accident! Thank you for helping me sing like a true West Lothian-er!
The band write themes of lost humanity, corporatism, drug addiction and globalisation. So whole he doesn't directly sing about hating America he sings about their culture and the problems it causes, whilst pointing out his own hypocrisy.
in my early 20 i was crazy about this song! im now 39 and i miss the time back in the days, whit all the party we had and i just put this on and get crazy... now theres is no party just me getting crazy! miss the time!
i love the accent debate going on here, it's kind of the theme of the song. he could have easily put on a more common accent and kept everyone happy, but the lyrics say it all - 'why do we imitate all we love to hate'. the fact they've got everyone talking about them just by keeping their accents strong is brilliant. i saw them at middlesbrough music live, they were really tight. i like these more than what biffy clyro have turned into recently
They're coming to Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest Music Festival. (They're on the list on the SXSW website). So they'll be here where I am for sure, plus they'll probably tour some other places as well.
This song is so relatable - I'm studying American Studies and I swear; every day I look more and more like John Wayne. But what the fuck; he was a handsome fella!
this american loves this band! come on over yall and do some concerts. i love their accents, is it considered glaswegian? dont mean to be ignorant, i just dont know any better. help culture me! im fascinated.
Saw these guys a couple of months ago - supporting Gaslight Anthem.....Off to see My Chemical Romance on Sunday - Guess who's supporting.....TWIN ATLANTIC... BTW HOW GOOD IS THE NEW MCR ALBUM GONNA BE ?? EVEN THE NME WET THEIR PANTS WHEN THEY REVIEWED IT !!
This is like the 3rd time that I have commented on this video.. :) ahaha Why are they just walking past?! I'd be licking the window thing trying to get Sam's attention :D
Romans 3:10 "There is none righteous, no not one" Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
hes definetly scottish :L same accent as me im from glasgow aswell. Its good to hear a proper sounding scottish accent being used in a song rather than ones like biffy clyro who u cant really tell that there from scotland :P
The video is about how America is passing every other 'country' by ( thats why the people, 'Americans' are walking by and Sam is trying to get their attention, but they're not looking ) and how other 'countries' are turning into 'John Wayne' which means they turning into Americanized countires listen to the lyrics people.
its not just the scottish accent, its everything about the band just look at them, theyre playing pretty much the same instruments, the lead singer tries to imitate simon neil so much with the way he holds his guitar, the guitar hes playing, and even the complete style of each member of the band the band is almost identical (beards n everything) and the entire breakdown that begins around 2:25 is something you would completely expect to hear from biffy clyro. your wrong you utter panda's fadge.
@BoredomAtItsVeryBest I have not read through your conversation, so i might be getting the wrong end of the stick completely, if i am.. I'm so sorry xd but i just want to point out that this video was actually filmed in america as far as i know, and they recorded their album in america, i think.. I'm sorry if that's completely random and has nothing to do with what you were saying xd :)
hahaha canni believe all these folk saying this bands putting on an accent and its not Scottish. Clearly they aint Scottish - its as real as it comes - fud's They did play glasgow - they were support for taking back sunday, twas ace! Love this tune
I saw them with EOTC and TFOT. I definately think they were better than EOTC but no one can touch TFOT. But I love all 3 bands. Never heard of Twin Atlantic before that concert

The songs not about hating American's its about bands singing in American accents and the imitation of American culture
avril harding the songs about hypocrisy.

This song should be so important in the world.
I'm American and I love this song. I don't see what the big fuss is. I actually agree with many statements in this song...
in my early 20 i was crazy about this song! im now 39 and i miss the time back in the days, whit all the party we had and i just put this on and get crazy... now theres is no party just me getting crazy! miss the time!
