I have to quote you, but what you probably don’t know is that there’s a tablet of 8th century B.C. from the island of Chios which unfortunately is in the museum of Istanbul that proves that the City State of Chios which was Ionian like Athens had Democracy 2 centuries before the legislation of Solon in Athens. Also the Italian archeological school found the remnants of a city in the island of Lemnos in an area known as Poliochne, the interest is about the mid-3rd millenium b.c. settlement which had a short of theatre with opposite tiers, a form similar to the historical age Roman senate, which shows that they could have a democracy or oligarchy back in 2.500 b.c. another interesting thing is that this area was later incorporated into a Mycenean royal palace.
