I didn't know I needed to hear Sam say "What's up gamers?" until watching this video.
Man, I respect editors. Editing videos is such a struggle for me, but I’m willing to keep learning and trying 😊
Yes I’m Fortnite content creator and I know what you mean and I do appreciate it 🙏 what do you do? We might as well collaborate for a video if you’re down
Yep it is hard
It's easy. Just time consuming.
@@gavinrice5082 I think thats what makes it hard for me. 👉🏻👈🏻🥺
Editing doesn't take too long to learn but definitely time consuming 😄
Who's gonna be taking these tips and using them in their own content? What gaming videos will you be making?
Inb4 I fuck around and make a 5th channel for Destiny 🤭
I will (Survival games, 7 days to die). The tricks are very useful. Keep evolving....
😎 you better believe it! Minecraft and others
U already know it, Minecraft and Apex
I am starting a Minecraft gaming channel and I think a lot of these tips will help I have been playing around with audio but I think I am going to try and do a little move visual effect to try and add more to my video, Great video thanks so much!
I been making gaming videos consistently and within every video I add or learn something new that makes me faster! THANKS FOR THE TUPS SAM!!!!!
Hello Sam, great tips!
Also, have you figured out a way to record a multi-track recording when you are also streaming?
OBS keeps mixing the tracks on the output video.
Thank you in advance!
go to settings > output > recording > audio track: select 2,3
then go to the audio mixer > advanced audio properties:
1. For Desktop Audio choose tracks 1,2
2. For your Mic choose tracks 1,3
now you'll have separate audio tracks.

I think the only thing that was missing to make this a complete video was showing real examples while giving the tips. Like you showed the subtitles but showing clips of the topics you showed would be good. Regardless love your videos!
I was thinking the same thing
Extra Bonus Tip!
For increased production value, mess up the number convention and see if your audience notices.
This video is wayyy underrated man, great job! Learned a few new things and also learned that i actually already use a few of these fancy tricks! Fantastic video man! subbed for sure!
Alot of these have helped me so much with my editing! I absolutely enjoy editing and try to improve it on each video! Thank you Sam!!
Bitrate has a lot to do with the resolution you record on, I usually record using a bitrate of 200mbps at 1440p, there is definitely a difference with banding when you compare master files from lower bitrates, although once upload it to YT you loose a lot of it (but then again, I'm a high quality freak). As for the music, I think its the most important as long as it makes sense. Great video and great tips! Subscribed!
Thank you man. I think I should've increase the bitrate recommendation - but I know not everyone has a great PC to record and play games at the same time. Quality is also subjective, so I guess as long as the video looks good, it does the job. I appreciate the comments also, and thank you for subscribing!
This video was on point with its tips. Every single one, bangers.
Making videos like these are fun af and provide so many learning experiences, I urge anyone curious about producing these kinds of videos to pull the trigger and do it
Ive come to learn how to take my videos to the next level, im glad i came here :)
Thank you for your tips man!
Thank You for this video...
Helpful, as always. Thank you again Sam!
Thanks for the tips will give them a go. This is the first time watching any of your videos as it came up as a suggestion.
Thanks Sam! Always a delight to see an upload from you.
OMG! Yes! The little "mini sequences" is something I slowly started to catch on to prior to watching this video, but I wasn't sure if it would confuse anyone, or not. This is definitely a video I needed to watch, it helped me realize that I am actually on the right track in my current videos that I am editing, and I still need to work on quite a bit more before I get the video editing process and videos themselves to where I like. Thank you so much for this! :D
Thank you! This is such great advice I will try to apply it right away.🤗🤗
Thank you so much!
Just the video I needed, thanks Sam!
Thank you so much for the tips sensei Sam
Thank you for this!
Thankyou for this! I've been looking at editing gaming vids for a while but found the quality to be lacking. Hopefully the 1st tip on OBS should help out tonnes!
I've been using all these in videos. Good to know i'm on the right track! Thanks Sam, great video!
Amazing video, extremely helpful ❤️
Used to make videos 5 years ago, and this is the exact memory refresh I needed to make content better
Much appreciated as always Sam!!
Thank you for this vid! You explain things really well 😄

2 years and 80 something videos in and I think I'm getting somewhere. This was a big help! Thanks.
This helped a lot
You're awesome dude, thank you for all your helpful videos! 🤘
Thanks for the tips.
I visited i first time and liked before video started and now after seeing i subbed !! congrats
Thank you, Sam, it is very useful. I hope you explain the OBS application and background isolation to Nvidia Broadcast in the future. You have a very easy method to solve the complications.
Was literally thinking today to start adding subtitles, wrote it in my notepad then you mention it in this, thanks for the tips brother 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Started my first full time job as a junior video editor, these videos are a life saver in helping me improve!
How does one get into that? Is it something you went to school for?
THX MAN!! IT WAS VERY HELPFUL AND FUN!! KEEP YOUR AMAZING WORK!!
I really enjoyed the tip about making mini stories throughout the video. That's going to help a ton.
Thanks for the tips
THANKS BRO!!
Love the content, You inspire me to push myself, thank you, Keep up the great work!
Thanks for this video! Started this type of videos a week ago and struggle with the right timing, when to use word by word and when not. Love you gave examples.
Highly recommend the king of subtitles: Sovietwomble
Great video man. I haven't made many videos but I've been looking for some great tips. I didn't even know PlayPhrase existed but I think it'll help alot
Great VIDEO Sam
THANK YOU!
Excellent video, thank you. Bonus Tip is by far the truest ;)
When you’re a casual subscriber and already feel like Sam became your best friend: 😱
Thanks for this!
Sincerely,
A hardcore gamer about to start a primarily-gaming UA-cam channel, but has crippling anxiety 😂

Thanks for the tips. Especially the bit rate for recording. I now I want to remake a video I uploaded to UA-cam lol 😅
Quality video!
I have a little question im a beginner streamer and im tryne find some cool alerts. Should i buy a alert pack? (And i dont have any payed editing programs for making it myself)
Hey I was just wondering what editing software do you use?? Thanks
Hi sam keep up the great videos
Yesssirr!!
I have a few videos up already of edits. Didn't know of the .mkv file until now. Will test that out soon
A lot of this stuff I have blindly doing, that makes me feel good
omg the only person who gave good tips
I think I’m pretty okay at editing but some of the things you talked about will probably really help me get in my next video thanks😁😁😁
Do you have videos on how to split the audio and put them on different tracks? And if so any free software?
Can also make a separate profile and scene collection for recording and streaming so you don’t have to switch bitrate every time
Just started the video, but thank you!
@sam woodhall i can record in mkv because premire pro does not support mkv videos so what do i do.
me watching this knowing that I have the basic materials and recording devices to make videos but will always be too unconfident and introverted to do it
Noti Gang
I like some of those tips, I currently use 50'000kbps for recording bitrate (render bitrate in DR also), and mp4, I also get upto 5 different audio tracks, game sound, mic, discord & music, mostly, the 5th is for my HF radio (Ham Radio) sound, never had it crash, but my recordings are not mission critical, and most can always be redone, or substituted.. Great tips tho :)
I've been trying to edit a Super Mario 64 playthrough videos, I've gotten so inconsistent because I keep learning and trying new things. But I don't know if any of my stuff is really good, I try to make some bits funny but I'm not really good at capturing the humor. I'll definitely try some of this.
Catchy thumbnail!
how do i make a template for editing moments in davinci resolve?
Where can I find that transition for when the words popup and disappear at 4:43?
Quick question... I use CQP 20 and record at mp4. I’m aware of the lack of error recovery. But is mkv and running CBR way better as far as quality goes?
CQP is great but it takes a ton of storage if done incorrectly and is a little more difficult to address in a video. If you understand it though, go for it. I found using bit-rate is better for starting content creators.
@@SamWoodhall Fair enough. 100% on the storage, that'll escalate quickly in the lower numbers. I'm going to give it a shot and see how it goes. Did you make your sub pop up? Super clean!
I think you should do a video walking us through applying these points.
Can you do the subtitles tricks with iMovie?
I edit and started editing stuff from stream and gaming but definitely know I’m just beginning
Why do i like this guy so much ? 😅
I appreciate that, thank you.
First Sam thanks for this
How do you recommend converting MKV into MOV especially when working with larger clips?
I have the same question please someone response!
You can do it in OBS:
Top left files -> Remux files
that way you can change them to mov or mp4
I might want to play some more with sound but glad to see I'm already doing all of this in my videos!
Though... Not the bitrate one. I consider that a pretty low bitrate and I wouldn't recommend using CBR either for recording, only for streaming.
I use CQP at level 16 for the best possible quality and while my bitrate will sit mostly between 20,000 and 30,000, it can peek to 80,000 in high action moments. These moments would look poor with a CBR between 10 and 20,000
I addressed this in an earlier comment. I don't recommend CQP unless you know how it works. The bit rate is there because lower end PCs would struggle with much over that without dropping frames. If you know how it works, go for it, but these were just baseline suggestions.
Ah, that explains! In this case, I fully agree with suggesting CBR instead though VBR might also be a valid option
@@LittleJur I realised after shooting this that VBR would've been much more of a useful format. I'll probably revisit this in a few months.
is there some alternatives to the captions and adding music for horror games? if im playing a horror game i dont think it would really fit to put comedic subtitles and calming music over whats supposed to be a scary game.
sam, what about having that destiny meme in the vid? it was really funny tho
what editing software u using?
+1
How do you convert the MKV to MOV? And do you lose the multi-track when you do this? I'm working with Adobe software on Windows
Remux it in obs. You can also go into settings and enable auto remux if you don't want to do it manually every time.
You do keep multiple tracks
@@SoccerPenguin thanks for the Reply. And as far as the multi track goes I'd like to have the game, chat, and music on separate tracks.
NOTIFICATION GANG 👍✌😁
Hello I was wondering if anyone knows how to add meme clips to their video. For example from the movie Friday when they say damn. How can I add that to my video
Find the video filter for creative commons copy the video then download it with UA-cam video downloader after that you good 💯
Was that a Peter McKinnon inspired opening line? :P
peter mckinnon stresses the whatssup !
my obs wont give mkv as a recording format, there isn't even a recording format as an option.
any ideas?
Uninstall and reinstall or update
Yes, I´m a gamer... :))
Man I been struggling to just play games my pc suck and I feel like I'm disappointing my small community 😂😔
I'm actually exporting one video that I just finished editing.
Editing software?
What library for SFX can you suggest?
50 tips video. I posted all of my suggestions there.
I'll take a look. Thanks!
Bonus tip is most important the more you practice the better everything will be on your videos you might start green screening or you might find a style of editing that is unique to you and you like to do it.
what about the best way to convert the file to mov?
I'm uploading my first gaming youtube video later today on my streaming account.
This coming out the same day was an odd type of assurance
