I found the problem. As this problem seems to have started occuring after I got back from abroad, it appears that the discs were damaged by the X-ray machine used to search your luggage in airports, as I hadn't put the discs in their cases. My point is that Wii U discs are blurays, which are very easy to damage. No, it's not the reader. Other discs I own work fine.
I just started having this issue, but with Monster Hunter 3U and DuckTales. Both games are the same region as the console, both discs are pretty much mint over than maybe a couple micro scratches, the Wii U is up to date, and I even tried cleaning the disc tray. The only thing I can think of is opening up the Wii U and very gently clean the laser. Or get a new game.
I remember this happened with my discs. at the time I wasn’t fully into the home brew and jailbreaks for consoles so all I was able to use my Wii U for was UA-cam and miiverse which is what I used it for anyways lmao. My discs were also spotless. No dust, cracks, looked like a brand new iPhone right out the box and most of them died. After getting into exploits and having the knowledge of home brewing, this problem isn’t a problem for me. If my disc drive dies, that would suck but wouldn’t be a big impact for me. Just hope the system will still detect it lol

Also I heard that the Drive has like a Key thing (Unique to each Wii U) and if The Key doesn't match (or Probably dies) the system wont boot up, and ig if the drive dies the Key will die along with it. (It can still be swapped, if I remember that Key is a chip that can be taken from Drive to drive)

Wow, we have the same error code but I only get it for mario kart 8. It's so annoying, and now I have absolutely no hope for my wii u. I might end up getting the switch instead for Christmas. The thing that really bothers me though is the fact that it's not even the game itself, it's the freaking disc reader that tends to act up, which is probably the reason why the wii u didn't have good sales in the first place. I always believed it was a good and underrated console, but now that I got this issue, I'm not very sure if I still have the same feelings about it.

mario kart 8 broke my wii u no joke. it has worked perfectly fine and i was playing yoshi even before trying to reinsall mk8. the installation bricked my wii u now it only turns on with the screen logo and doesn't go past it.
@@kaylevy7107 That's a Corrupted save file. If you get a Wii U, next time put the save file on USB Hard Drive. One of my Friends ALMOST Got this, but was lucky it was on USB, if it was on Internal storage it would've bricked
DUDE ITS A BAD PLUG I KNOW BECAUSE I even myself had this problem before and we lost Our Wii-U around a few years ago just went looking every where no plug exists except on amazon ours did that but when you wiggle the cord it got cut out so yes its not you're disks its the plug AC Adaptor had this on Mario galaxy 2 was so excited to finally go back to world s THIS HAPPEND AND WE DECIED IT WAS TIME TO QUIT but yes some disks may be scratched and its the plug that caused it not to read

Wii U is a trash console for a reason. Probably the only new console I regret getting because all the Wii U games stopped working with little to no damage. Wii games are literally more sturdy than them.

It could be a error with the discs or the disc drive and if it was the disc drive it would give you a black screen with a error message saying "There is a problem with the disc drive" then the error code.

Did you fix this problem now or still shows invalid disc? I used to have a Wii U and did invalid disc until I unplugged it for 5 minutes then plugged it back in so it was probably the Wii U being faulty or just needs an update.
Well that's a Corrupted Game, probably Generally disc is corrupt, or Boot files or Banner files are corrupted. Wii U is kinda crazy with Corrupted files, especially Corrupted games.

The way I got my MK8 working again was to put a bit of spit on the edge of your finger,rub it on the disc and wipe it with a clen cloth.
