    As you stand that it's a "pro" review, it should include "pro" tips: you could mention, that it's a good practice to rinse the paper filter prior use, fill the AEP and the mug with hot water in order to preheat them for more stable brew (Heat retention).For pre-infusion (blooming) process, instead of stirring the grounds with stirrer to which grounds will attach like a burr to a dog's tail, you can simply wobble the AEP to ensure that all grounds are in contact with water.
    You can use two paper filters to enhance filtration, or put 1 filter on the cap and 2nd one on the grounds for strong, espresso-style coffee.
    When you brew using inverted method, after you lock the cap into place - push the AEP slightly down until the coffee comes out to remove the air from the chamber. 👍☕️

      With the inversion method combined with a metal filter, you can press some of the bloom up through the top before dumping it into your mug for more oils/flavor. Once you turn it over, they'll be trapped up by the plunger side of the grounds if you don't push them through first. This way you get kind've a "not really crema, crema" on top.

      I use one paper and a metal filter on top of it. Paper filter lasts for weeks that way and back pressure is just right. I also use the wobble technique. Toss all that plastic stuff in the recycles.

    I really like the AeroPress, it's great. I did discover how to make pour through coffee using the AeroPress. I first pre rinse the filter which is something I do regardless how I use the AeroPress which I noticed the video doesn't do. Than I simply put coffee into the AeroPress tube with the filter and holder installed, place on a cup, pour a little hot water into the tube to get the coffee to bloom, then pour the rest of the water in and let gravity take over. I don't have to use the plunger for this in case anyone was wondering.

  • @geoffphillips4018

    I use one every day- pretty good. I threw all the useless junk out: stirrer, measure, funnel.
    I accidentally threw out the black plastic filter holder with the puck and had to buy a new one, and it might be just that I rinsed the filter holder in cold water before removing it and that would make it stick- it might have shrunk it a little but I gave it a judicious sanding to make it easier to remove. Otherwise: good. I've got an Atomic, and a Bellman and an espresso pot but for my morning coffee: Aeropress. Simple, easy, quick, pretty good coffee if you do it right.

    I have AP at Amazon basket but hesitate cause its plastic. I mean what ab pressure it creates?
    Plus I know its BPA free but still I read somewhere that plastic under high temperature release hazardous chemicals.
    What is better paper filters or metal, I read that metal one cause its more thick could create less pressure, more flavour but less pressure, is it true?

    • @michalveselenyi3801

      Exactly that I've immediately thought. Hot water is no good to ANY plastic AFAIK (I did lots of searching, and still not 100% persuaded) - I'd avoid. French press is usually glass + inox steel, much better in my opinion.

    I'm having a problem with my AeroPress, I make 2 cups of coffee everyday with mine and I've been using the inverted method, but I have had to replace the seal every 6 months. Heat on the seal over that time makes it loose in the chamber, have you heard of this problem? What is the best grind number and how much coffee? What is the best temperature for the water?

      Be careful to never let the plunger stay in the chamber for too long after you brew. You should always remember to take the cap off and either push the plunger all the way through until it pops out the other side, or to just remove it entirely. If you leave the plunger in the cylinder(like with a cold-brew), it can take a permanent set and won't seal as nice. I also pour a little water on the top side when pushing the plunger out so it's not sliding dry on the cylinder. I've also noticed that depending on the beans I use, some will leave more of an oily sheen on the inside of the cylinder....which acts kind've like a lube to protect the plunger seal.

      If you leave the rubber press partially in the plunger tube, the rubber will compress over time and finally leak. Always push the plunger completely through so the rubber end pops out, or leave the parts separate. A replacement part is available from the aero press folks.

Ad boiled water BUT by the time I get the plunger ready 1/4 of the water has drained through the coffee and into the cup. 3. I'm starting to think there is no point to the plunger. Obviously it works okay if I do the alternative method. Strange.

      @sp22m3 7 років тому +1

      I had the same issue. Here's the solution. Use the black funnel. Once you've poured the grounds into the cylinder, clean the funnel and put it on your mug. Your filter-side of the aeropress will line up with the side of the funnel when you tip it over, the funnel surrounding the bottom of the aeropress. The funnel will prevent any coffee that leaks out the side(rather than the bottom) of the cap from spilling over the side of your mug.

    On the box in the image of the finished cuppa and when stirring the coffee in the aeropress the coffee has a beautiful delicious crema on top as you'd normally see if you ordered an espresso from a barista. sadly after pressing the coffee into the cup this crema has 100% disappeared which I find does take away from the experience of enjoying the cuppa. Is there any way of dispensing the coffee to preserve some of this crema?

    • @doc8125
      @doc8125 4 роки тому

      no, the crema is created because of co2 escaping from the coffee, which under high pressure from an actuall espresso machine (the aeropress really does not make espresso, just something that kinda but not really taste like it) traps the co2, and when the pressure gets released it the co2 and some coffee starts to foam up. The pressure needed for such a thing is not possible with the aeropress
