In fact they have the most toxic dev team and community managers I've ever seen, only the CEO seems to be an ok guy.

I’m almost crying here, really I have never felt such deep attacks on my games. I want to play my game that I chose and paid for, not have it censored, DEI infested and then taken away…. Fun fact: Using a VPN is against PSN’s terms of service.
And if the PSN ping system detects it, you're banned immediately. There's one person with screenshot proof of banned for trying to get around the region lock. Six other people claim being banned, but no screenshots or receipts so still hearsay.
So, yeah, the CMs telling players to use VPN or lie about their region for PSN to keep playing are getting banned for it.

Helldivers 2 had over $300 million in sales as of MARCH. No telling what it is now. So they don't need your money anymore. They have enough to fund development on Helldivers 3 and other projects. Now, you are seeing their true colors.
When a developer has made profit, as we see in most Steam games, they can oftentimes become emboldened by success and forget who puts money in their hands, we the people.

1st $300 million in sales does not equate to $300 million in profit. Cuts are taken many places along the line. That said I tend to agree this game was probably not a bust. 2nd When this particular CEO say "vote with your wallets" I am inclined to think he is actually genuine and equally as frustrated with the situation as the player base. Reading his tweets I think is as close to giving the middle finger to Sony as he possibly can without directly doing it.

If account linking was disabled temporarily, that means sony knew that they will make it mandatory again, yet they sold the game outside the 69 countries where PSN is available. That's honestly a full on scam.

I have had a ton of people say "its not arrowheads fault". I disagree, they absolutely share the blame. They chose to work with Sony, they chose to work with these community managers, they chose to allow the PSN thing to stay hidden, instead of blowing the horn on it or making it a clear fact that it was not optional. Sony is being a scummy bully corpo again, but arrowhead is being a cowardly deceitful studio.

@@felixmartel6722 Fully aware that HD1 was published by sony as well. They own the IP. This does not mean that a studio must work with sony, it only means they cannot make helldivers. They can make the exact same game as what helldivers 2 was, just with different names. The dev also has the option to talk with their community (especially one like Helldivers where everybody was super active in the community) and make sure things like this are clear and known, they did not. Lastly, they handled it terribly from a PR standpoint, especially the community managers.
The funny thing is that Sony could have gotten his sweet, sweet new PN accounts without any negative backlash by offering something in exchange for linking your steam account to your PSN account, by offering super credits or a new exclusive armor and cape set, 90% would have jumped into the hype wagon immediately and the rest eventually with next to none backlash.
But noooo, they had to hold the game hostage, throw their weigth and force things into people.
EPIC Store couldn't buy me with free games, why would I let Sony buy me with trinkets. Not a chance.
@@venataciamoon2789 I didn't say that everybody would accept the deal, just that there would be a lot of players, the majority of players that would have accepted the deal and Sony would have pumped up their PSN numbers without antagonizing the player base or bombing their current flagship game reputation into oblivion.

Yeah, Sony wouldn't have gotten the 100% of the PC players to sign up and get a PSN account but they would have gotten 70, 80 or maybe even the 90% of the player base to sign up without any backlash, bad press, a review bombing, annoying valve nor bleeding players like crazy; a way better scenario than the current shit storm that they got into themselves unnecessarily.
Of course that would have needed for the suits at the top of Sony to have more than 2 brain cells and to think beyond the numbers of the current quarter.
Nope not a chance. If they have been upfront about it so steam players outside of their PSN sphere knows that you had to have a PSN account to play it then maybe, but they put it as OPTIONAL. That's a bait and switch right there. No amount of freebies will make it better if you can't play a game you spent your money on. Also using a VPN and making a PSN account with false info can get you banned roflmao. 😅
Steam owners should have an option for an immediate refund for the game. The winning move with this type of thing is to not participate
I'd like to have a refund, should steam offer a blind refund. (EDIT: I tried to refund last night, and it was denied due to time played. I got my time out of it, so I'm not bent over the denial.)
Above all, I want a refund for the players that won't be able to play the game due to enforcing the PSN requirement.
If they aren't offered a full refund then June 5th is going to be a massive lawsuit for Phony... and a massive headache.

They rejected my request outright on the grounds that I owned it for over 2 weeks prior to requesting the refund when this news broke of PSN subscriptions becoming mandatory to play.

I will never believe that Sony's higher-ups didn't know the situation would escalate in such way, they are too long on the market and 100% know what's people's opinion on their security standards (not even mentioning the actual forcing to making an account on site of a console most of people don't even have). Yeah, we really need some kind of regulation that entitles customers to a refund if something they already bought gets changed.
Can confirm on Saturday night the game was missing about 2/3 of the normal numbers.
It's really sad since Sony used to be such a good company originally, but since 2016 when they moved headquarters from Japan to Commiefornia they have really went downhill and continue to.
I saw a bunch of people on Tiktok saying things like "jUsT MaKe the account, it takes like 5 minutes and its fReE hurr durr" or saying that "PC players cry and complain too much", these are the same people that will tell you "just get on the train". Theyre missing the point. The idea that these companies sell you a game, take your money, capitalize on it, then try to push you around and tell you hey, you better do what we say or you cant play anymore is really starting to piss people off. I play on PC, and Ive had a PSN account for over 10 years now but i think this backlash is great. We are showing these corporations that they arent in charge of us anymore. We make them what they are, and look what happens when we turn on them. In like 5 hours there was 15,000 negative reviews and now theyre panicking. The sad part is i think the Devs are going to suffer for Sonys decision here. We've been playing the game for months now with the "Option" to link an account, why cant it just stay optional? They say its for protection, but Sony isnt exactly known for keeping our Data safe as they have a Data breach once a year that leaks a bunch of information. People make the comparison to other games like GTA needing a Rockstar account, or Assassins Creed needing a Ubisoft accounts, and tbh thats a dogshit justification. I dont want to have 100 different accounts just to play games that i paid for. I like Helldivers, its one of the best PVE games ive played in a while but im not licking Sonys boots. I paid for the game, and if theyre going to threaten my access to it then ill just stop buying their games. Youd think they wouldve learned from Ubisoft and The Crew. Stand your ground Gamers.

I have something called tolerances (no not their understanding of tolerance real tolerances).
If I am say 5 thousandths off it doesn’t matter how hard I worked on that part it still gets scrapped.
Why? Because that is not what the customer ordered I do what I am orders to do. If I don’t I would be fired & my company would lose MONEY!
Same with this their tolerance is the customers feedback if it is negative they must correct it.
Get it yet you risk losing your customers to a competitor. Indie games in this case.

When I bought the early Assassin's Creed games via Steam and downloaded them, I got this pop up involving signing up for a Ubisoft account to play them from ACII onward. I was annoyed by that, yet went with it due to wanting to see what Assassin's Creed was all about.
Hearing this similar thing happening reminded me of that.
The real problem is with the gamers....

Nah, I refuse to believe Arrowhead is not at least partially responsible. They had great leverage with how popular this game is, and they did not stop it. Plus, at least one of their high ranking employees has expressed desire for this because it would make banning easier for them. Sony is more responsible, sure, but Arrowhead is not innocent.

Not to defend them but Sony got hacked only one big time in 2011's biggest hack ever; leading to user info leak. As far as I know, since then it never happen again.
But yes Sony's security got breached a couple a time but never like in 2011 hack. You all should be more worry about Sony getting your personal data by linking your account and them doing whatever they want with that data.

I refused to buy this game from the very beginning because of the anticheat requiring kernel access, and the company you are allowing to have that access has a terrible track record of data breaches. Hard Pass. Theres to many games I have in my library that I havent even played once yet to buy a game with a privacy risk like that.

what I don't understand it why Sony didn't just do a promotion: link you helldivers 2 account with a Sony PS account and get this wonderful skin/weapon skin/promo cosmetics package. People would have done it in a heartbeat, sure, not everyone, but a lot of people would have and without any kind of negative impact... instead they just went for the "It's MANDATORY!" approach and now they are leaking players and the game reviews quality on steam is dropping in real time... what are the execs at Sony's marketing division doing?
Its not simply about making the psn account link thing more appealing, the game has been available for purchase at countries where you cant create a psn account, so any person who bought helldivers and has been enjoying it for the past 3 months will soon be unable to play it, unless they reach to a solution.

Only other thing I can see is it's an inconvenient game for China to have in their country. Seen a good number of Chinese players and HD2 does have things that CCP doesn't care for.

Honestly I feel it can't be emphasized enough how much it says about his character that the CEO of Arrowhead, EVEN THOUGH HE HAD NO SAY IN THE MATTER AND COULDN'T HAVE PREVENTED THIS, felt that the hit to the games reviews, HIS GAME, was and I QUOTE, "deserved". He agrees with the players that this is dumb and doesn't seem to feel any resentment towards the THOUSANDS of people who are getting refunds and lowering their review scores, all of which takes money out of HIS pocket. I feel that's a very strong showing of solidarity with us fans and it honestly gives me a decent bit of hope knowing that there are still some people in positions of importance related to this game that are on our side.
Uninstalled and awaiting my refund. Seeing people with 200 hours get refunds too, so I'm optimistic.

I've requested a refund and will be pursuing it aggressively as I'm in Australia and we have very robust consumer laws.

This is going to negatively affect Steam if they don't step up and deal with it. If Steam allow devs and publishers to change the deal and remove access after the sale, they are setting a very dangerous precedence.

I'm a PC player. Sony has a known history of being TERRIBLE with customer data. I did not agree to this requirement when I purchased the game. I would rather they remove crossplay entirely. If they don't backtrack on this, it WILL become a legal fight for them.
