Never liked Royal Enfield motorcycles due to their vibration and sound. But these 650 twins changed my mind completely ! Im in love with the interceptor 650 :)
"Usable power". What I've come to understand as I've gone to more and more powerful motorcycles is that the power isn't usable except in very limited situations and, more importantly, they are less fun than bikes which are less powerful. I haven't ridden the Enfield but I suspect it would be more fun than the 1300 I currently have.
Back on a bike after 30 years. The Int. 650 wooed me back. Your words describe so well how it feels to own and ride this stunning, gentle beast. The song lyrics reflect the feeling too. Great vid. Thanks
Royal Enfield hats off to you. What a beautiful bike and the commercial is even great. Specially the background music alongwith the roaring sound of the exhaust system makes it a delight.
the MK 2 interceptor of the late 60's early 70's was arguably one of the best looking motorcycles produced, it's great to see them making the interceptor again but its not a patch on the old one where looks are concerned, shame, they had a lot to live up to.
Got me 2 RE Classics. I also have a 60's Beetle, Kombi, and some older stuff. Simple is actually cheaper and easier to fix. No frills. No power windows. No electronics. Love it.
Classic and old school soul and hi-tech engineering amalgamated for the modern world's Rider who wants the best of technology and yet wants to do it the old school way where friendships weren't merely "likes" and "pokes" on social media and a time when a 'yes' meant a ''YES'' and a 'no' meant "NO"and of course when the words "made for each other" always meant together for life and not a divorce after a couple of years. So this bike is not just a 649cc machine but a representative and signifier of one of the best time of the human race in all its glory and abundance and vigor. I believe that by launching this bike Royal Enfield bike company has once again revived and resuscitated that Golden age and all the good things it represented. A time when TRUE workmanship and quality assurance weren't just merely words but were like a tangible certificate that promised YOU, the Rider unparalleled performance and indubitable reliability as specified and advertised by the bikes' manufacturers, and "that" wasn't seen being practiced anymore in the marketing and manufacturing culture of today's bike manufacturers particularly in the light and the mid-weight motorcycle segments, the 'mantra' in here was "profit", profit and "only" profit alone and the YOU the "Rider" were kept 'last' on the priorities list of the bike manufacturers. Enfield, with the Interceptor and Continental 650cc bikes is all set to change this.... Because it seems to me that these bikes have been designed and developed with YOU, the Rider and YOUR driving pleasure and comfort as the topmost priority list items of the manufacturer! It's a great new beginning and a very benevolent one for every TRUE biking enthusiast and Rider, of course, yourself included if you've come this far reading this review. Cheers! & Happy Riding!

I own a Royal Enfield here in the United States. Bought it brand-new. Within the first year of ownership, I had to file no fewer than three warranty claims, one of which was for a fuel tank that started spontaneously leaking. My Enfield has 6,700 miles on the odometer and I can't wait to trade it for a bike that doesn't regularly self-destruct. I would caution everyone to stay away from R.E.'s 650s until they have long-term ownership reviews. They're beautiful bikes with a lot of character and history, but they're not reliable. I wish I'd listened to what I heard and not trusted what I'd been told about 'improvements.'
I find the fuel tank design of old interceptor much cooler and worthy of the name. Sleek, teardrop-ish, giving a sense of speed. Current one's looks like a commoner.
The Funny thing is that RE service centre guys will have no idea what so ever about this Bike, just like Himalayan. Dear RE its good that you are making new products but it seems like you have a blind eye towards issues in existing products and problem are same since decades.

Well said. I think the EFI Himalayan is a big leap over the first lot of the carburetted one. I haven't heard of any quality issues in it. Maybe RE has done what you say it should do, to an extent. The Himalayan and the 650 twins are RE's ticket to the international market. They cannot afford to mess it up, least of all with the 650. However, only time will tell.
