I appreciate that Tim calls it as it is. I am surprised by these results because my Stribog runs flawlessly but it is important to know that some of them don't.
To be fair Garand Thumb did say they weren’t marine proof. I have about 400 rounds through mine with only one issue which I believe was operator error. Without a brace and unsuppressed it shot great, very accurate with the factory sights.
Interesting... I have ran mine with 115gr plated, 125gr power coated and 150gr Hi Tek coated; both suppressed and unsuppressed and have had zero issues like you Mac. I have ran 800 total on mine.
Considering its straight blowback, I feel like reviewers only reviewing this with a supressor is disingenuous. In theory the additional back pressure of the supressor could potentially improve reliability with certain ammo. Thank you for your honest review!

@@joephysics5469 neither a few good examples, nor a lemon are necessarily proving the firearm is excellent /flawed. That being said, with your example, 115 grain is very specific. I shoot 115,124,147,158 grain 9mm Projectile with varied powder. Being Canadian I do not have access to supressor, so it is good to know how an unsupressed firearm functions with other ammo than 115. From my experience lighter grain factory loads produce a snappier recoil impulse, which again from my experience generally is significantly MORE reliable in a large range of firearms than heavier loads. This is not again saying Mac didn't get a dud, but stating absolute truths with honestly limited data is also disingenuous...
MAC is the only channel that doesn't like the Stirbog. I bought the sp9A3 used (post-break-in period) about three months ago and it's been flawless so far at 800 rounds or so. The only drawback is when I do buy a can for it, it will cost as much as the gun itself.

I doubt the importer would admit to functional issues if there weren't any. They also wouldn't be taking guns back in for fixes if there weren't problems.
There's no extractor in that gun, the open hole can be seen clearly at 25:04, whether it fell out or was never put in from the factory or was taken out, that's why it's ejecting randomly and not extracting shells out from the receiver. They're just falling wherever the ejector knocks them, and likely why the hotter ammo works better, because it's throwing the bolt (and case) back against the ejector with enough force to (mostly) knock them out of the receiver.
@B real I doubt that. Especially considering his p365 reviews were exactly in line with what was actually wrong with the gun. Plus, idk how Tim could manufacture videos with supposedly new guns on purpose to make them fail
He didn't like anything about this gun before he even shot it. Saftey, bolt release, ECT. He kept saying how the brace made the price 1000$. His comparison to B&T quality is really making me skeptical of his objectivity

Well I'll just say this, I tried the 130g Syntech last week in my Suomi and Uzi and it was total suckage. It feels very weak and I just had non stop problems with failure to feed and eject. I also tried it in my Walther pistol and didn't like it either, accuracy sucked. Not sure what's going on there with that ammo. I'll probably buy another box or two and do more testing, perhaps will chrono it.
@@Petedrumsusa I'm aware of that, in fact just shot the 150g Syntech along with other brands in a big USPSA match where I expended about 400 rounds. So far I have found the 150g Syntech less accurate than the 147g FMJ Federal.
23:51 not only did you have a failure to eject, but you were able to drop the hammer out of battery. I know that the hammer is not likely to fire a round as it follows the bolt, but being able to drop the hammer out of battery is an "uncool" fire control group design flaw.
I can drop the hammers out of battery on all of my ARs, vr80, my savage, and my buddys evo as well. Infact i use that to drop the hammer for when im storing my guns for extended periods of time. I would say this isn't anything out of the ordinary.

Not one malfunction on mine, 2.5k rounds, steel, aluminum and brass. But as stated before, thank you for attracting the lemons and keeping us mildly unlucky folk from having to deal with them! Keep up the awesome work.
I have about 500 rounds through mine and ive had 2 failures to feed but that was cheap steel case wolf. So I blame it on that. I think mac has an extractor problem.
Hi, I used to have a Stribog 2 years ago. The gun was terrible and I returned it. I had these problems too. The mag may be broken in the middle back upper part, behind the primer of the first loaded round. Its just a tiny hair crack when unloaded and it opens when loaded. This is (or was) a common issue with Grand Power Stribog mags. Also the gun failed to shoot when supported by the inserted mag (gun standing on its mag). I would buy CZ Scorpion EVO 3 instead.
I think they ran into trouble when they changed the recoil system. When the new roller locked version finally gets approved by the ATF I think it's going to be an insanely popular gun. Thanks for the support!
The Syntech PCC ammo is quoted at 1140fps from a 16" bbl. It's not really designed for shorter barrels, that's why the 115 ball was punchier. Being a gun from the EU, I'd presume it was designed with 124gr NATO spec ammo... so the Syntech was a little light for it's liking. With that said... the magazines do seem to be **** and need some work to stop all the other silly problems.
Grand Power had most of their R&D done by B&T for this one. They changed it enough not to be a direct clone, but clearly it was heavily influenced by the APC9.

You spent HALF the review on bullets this gun doesn’t like. That Symtec junk doesn’t cycle through my fns-9 or my Glock 19. The other problem was a mag issue. By the end you acted as if this gun was a total failure. You didn’t try a variety of ammo and you never put a suppressor on it. You did not mention that AR triggers work in it. Complete review? No. Not fair.
Is it me or does it seem like Tim is intentionally loosely shouldering it? Cause I see quite a bit movement of the gun into the shoulder. Might just be me.
I’ve had mine for over a year. As a matter of fact, I posted a review of it on the Grand Power Stribog Facebook page when the page first started. My biggest criticism of the gun was the mags. Mine broke just being loaded. I’ve lost three of them with less than 500 rounds through the gun. I posted my review as a LEO using the gun as an entry weapon. Which I would not recommend. At that time, getting replacements was next to impossible. Luckily a member of the page sent me three of his. My biggest issue besides the mags was the producer of the gun calling people liars when they brought up the mag issue. It’s not a good look when consumers were posting pics of broken mags and their response was “that’s not possible”. I assure it was and is. Global wasn’t the importer then, it was RSA. But I will give Global props. When they read my review, they contacted me and offered up replacements. Now I guess they want you to cook them in the oven to stress relieve them? Yea. I shouldn’t have to cook my mags before use. When the article was posted yesterday on the Facebook page, I got a real kick out of the kool aid drinkers blaming you. Saying B&T paid you to break the gun. Or you set it up to fail on purpose. Pretty comical.
I just purchased a lingle scorpion lower for my stribog. It fixed every issue the stribog had. My stribog would not feed hollow points. It seemed to me the feed angle would bind the hollow points when entering g the chamber. The scorpion lower feeds all hollow points works perfectly. The only mod I had to do was shave the sides of the stribog bolt catch so Scorpio, psa mags would fit they were a little girthy. Magpul mags do not need this mod will work with factory bolt catch.... I purchased 3 psa mags for the price of 1 a3 metal feed lip mag.. fixed all issues
@@DEATH_TO_TYRANTS Short length, easier to control than a hand gun, cheaper ammo, can bump fire, makes a great home defense weapon... Too bad we can't get the full auto version they make for the police. We love the Stribog that we have access to.
@@joephysics5469 All valid points. Except the home defense part (imo) why would you ever choose a carbine that shoots pistol ammo? The benefits of a pistol is the size, not the round. If you're going with a carbine, why not use a proper round? Again, I'm looking to have a conversation, not a fight. Cheers.
@@DEATH_TO_TYRANTS My philosophy of home / personal defense is to place every shot perfectly and to bring down the target quickly and minimize collateral damage. In my hands I am a better shot with a sub style gun (short barrel not carbine length) than I am a pistol in a pressure situation. The three points of contact matter for most. Classically a sub gun is a better way to clear rooms in urban combat / police situations than a rifle. I'm not looking to take on a target 50 yards outside of my house or truck (just too rare to plan for that situation). As for the round, a Hydro Shock style of round will bring down a target efficiently while minimizing the chances of penetrating walls and hitting an innocent. If your definition of a proper round is a rifle round you will find it can definitely penetrate your target and enter the home next door quite easily.
I’m having crazy problems with my brand new Stribog. I had these same malfunctions your seeing. I had a case lodged so deep inside that I had to disassemble the gun to get it out just like you. I’m using FMJs.
Glad mine has no issues. It eats steel case ammo and brass. I haven't had any malfunctions in over 1000rnds. But I may be one of the lucky ones. Love the accuracy of it.
Funny thing is that when the third malfunction happened I was like: "I sure wonder what poor undeveloped country this sh*t came from" (I'm Czech, btw). And then comes the close up and the first thing I see is the cross crest of our Slovakian brothers. Ooops...
I saw this gun and for the price it looks amazing and really want to get one. Now I am sort of concerned with the quality control coming out of Slovakia. In the meantime, I'm going to keep shooting my Scorpion and other CZs 😏. I know they're alway hungry and eat everything.

Well with my Bark PCC (it's a custom Slovak made PCC based on Scorpio lower) I have found out that PCCs really, really like full power ammo, even a little bit overpowered. It came to me hard way - right in winter on steel challenge in Cachtice (Slovak shooting range). I reloaded somewhat lighter ammo and combined with heavy bolt and cold it became reliability nightmare. On steel challenge having 2 failures per 5 rounds on each stage it means a complete disaster. MP5, Scorpio, Stribogs, APC etc. - all like to have fully powered ammo.
This is such a great video for Grand Power, seriously because I was about to buy one soon and now they're going to have to revise it. I'm also glad I waited to buy a RFB until very recently because they've improved it so much, and your videos attributed to that. Thank you for the awesome vids!
I hope they make changes to the magazines. I also hope they modify the next version so spent cases can't fall back into the action. Aside from that, I believe this gun was defective, likely a bad extractor or ejector. I don't think the reliability issues I encountered are representative of all of the Stribogs out there. To the contrary, I believe I got a "lemon".
@@Militaryarmschannel Lemons are a thing because of quality control. Understandable for the price, but not far under the price of the CZ and a bad thing in general for a firearm. Thanks for the reply, your opinions are probably my most highly regarded on UA-cam.
The ones in europe are A3 variants i believe. These coming into America are actually a couple years old design. But thats what was approved for import i believe, not 100% sure thats whats going on, but i do know you can pick up the A3 in Europe, and we are stuck with A1s. So take that as you will.
If they lighten the bolt a little, tune the recoil spring, beef up extraction, put some sort of shelf in the receiver to prevent spent cases ingress into the fcg, and make the feed lips of the mags tighter it could be a nice gun for the money. I'm willing to bet most of the problems are extraction and bolt velocity related.
Kinda makes me question all the other YT gun reviewers who never mentioned issues with theirs, or at least with the magazines. They might have worked flawlessly, but the magazine issues should have been obvious.
I have around 500 rounds through mine. I ran 115gr federal, 115 Winchester white, 115 blazer and 124 blazer with zero issues whatsoever from all 6 mags. I have the second guide rod that I believe would block a round from getting stuck where yours are as well?
I use the Syntech because I shoot steel at fairly close range. While it's not frangible ammo, it's designed to be more safe when shooting at steel as it doesn't have a copper jacket. It's the copper that typically comes back at the shooter and cuts them. Let me know how yours likes the 130gr PCC ammo and try some of the 124gr too, if you can find it. But then I had a number of failures with the 115gr copper jacketed ball too.
I completely understood why you are using the syntech. I will report back when I get my hands on it. I sent you a picture of my stribog on Instagram message. You can see the second guide rod. I was wondering if yours had that as well. Thanks!
Or maybe they didn't have these issues? It kind of baffles me that people can't seem to realize that not everyone's experience will be the same. MAC had terrible luck with the P365 and so did a number of others. But yet some didn't. Doesn't always mean someone's lying.
Watching the footage, the B&T was way more sporadic with the shell casings than the Stribog. Obviously I can't see what the Stribog casing are doing outside of frame, but on video they were leaving at mostly the same trajectory, while the B&T kicked them up, down, front, back, and every which way. Am I just nuts? Compare the 7:10 mark to the 13:08 mark.
@@Militaryarmschannel I'm just sitting here with my poor boy $429 Draco NAK9 trying not to laugh at everyone paying these prices for all of these overbuilt blowback 9mm carbines. Enjoy lol
This kind of problem also happened on my Stribog when I was using Federal 115gr. However, my gun only has problems at the last one or two rounds of a magazine. When I was using Fiocchi or Magtech 115gr, there aren't any problems at all.
Haven't had any issues with my stribog A1. I have the eagle import reciprocating charging handle version. Global started getting them about a week after I got mine. I upgraded my charging handle to non-reciprocating with hb industries.
I doubt the reliability issue is a fault with the ammunition. Watching the weak ejection sequence of the 130 grain ammo, it appears the pistol may have a defective extractor or extractor spring. The 115 grain ammo appeared to eject more forcefully until near the end of the video when the ejection sequence began to mimic the 130 grain ammo. I suspect another culprit is the flimsy magazine lips. Too bad, it was almost an affordable pistol/carbine thingy.
Thanks MAC for making an honest video! I would have bought an APC9 a long time ago if it wasn't for the price tag. The Stribog had me interested because of the $, but it looks like the gun and mags needs some reengineering before it's truly "ready".

I would buy a case just on principle.

Top that with TWO letters from Global Ordnance admitting the problems I've been one of the few to report on and that sums things up nicely. I doubt the importer would admit to functional issues if there weren't any. They also wouldn't be taking guns back in for fixes if there weren't problems.
This review felt very biased from the beginning. Still love this channel 🤷🏽♂️♥️
A Jorge exactly my thought, he seemed almost venomous about even having the gun on his table.
Did MAC film the intro after having the failures? He appeared frustrated in the intro or was expecting a lemon.
you noticed that too?
@B real I doubt that. Especially considering his p365 reviews were exactly in line with what was actually wrong with the gun. Plus, idk how Tim could manufacture videos with supposedly new guns on purpose to make them fail
@B real also, could you explain how he could purposefully sabotage these videos?

I was in a course recently with a guy running Syntech. It was like he was shooting a 380 ACP, both in report and visible recoil.

23:51 not only did you have a failure to eject, but you were able to drop the hammer out of battery. I know that the hammer is not likely to fire a round as it follows the bolt, but being able to drop the hammer out of battery is an "uncool" fire control group design flaw.

Must be you! Mine runs beautiful!
I was on the fence about this gun, but I'm glad I waited for your video before I bought one.

I think they ran into trouble when they changed the recoil system. When the new roller locked version finally gets approved by the ATF I think it's going to be an insanely popular gun. Thanks for the support!
Literally no one that owns these runs anything but 115 grain ball ammo
Dude got a lemon
Almost all I've run in mine is 124 gr. Mostly 124 gr Geco fmj at 1180 fps.
I think we can gather that the Czech side of Czechoslovakia did the heavy lifting when it came to gun design for all those years.
Grand Power had most of their R&D done by B&T for this one. They changed it enough not to be a direct clone, but clearly it was heavily influenced by the APC9.

What are you claiming exactly. What more does he need to do to make it “fair”
No. Not fair.
Thanks for the video. You saved me $$$. Makes me wonder about reviews from reviewers I trusted when deciding to purchase a firearm.
I've literally never seen MAC so frustrated!

All valid points.

Well with my Bark PCC (it's a custom Slovak made PCC based on Scorpio lower) I have found out that PCCs really, really like full power ammo, even a little bit overpowered. It came to me hard way - right in winter on steel challenge in Cachtice (Slovak shooting range).
I am also going to get some of that 130 syntech and report back hopefully in the next week or so.

I swear this happens on purpose. How does Tim end up with lemon after lemon? 🤪
Thanks MAC for making an honest video! I would have bought an APC9 a long time ago if it wasn't for the price tag. The Stribog had me interested because of the $, but it looks like the gun and mags needs some reengineering before it's truly "ready".
Thanks for watching.
