Unless he made them like 80 years ago those aren't the same. Both of those 6 chimes are OG reading whistles, some complete with patches cut into the sides. Those are old beat up brass castings.
I hope someday N&W 2156 can get it's whistle re-recorded, each hooter seems to have it's own tone, only one video exists of it in operation and it unfortunately it's audio is not the best.
THANK YOU for so much air time for my hometown locos 425 & 2102....gonna have goosebumps for days but I gotta admit.... Cass Scenic has some of the most melodious voices I have ever heard
15:44 imagine, you’re walking through the forest on a unbeknownst to you had an active railway, in the distance you hear THAT. That’s hell coming for you right there.
That Brass Nathan 6 from NKP 700 has one hell of a bark to it, especially at 4:04. Probably my favorite of the video, always liked the more hoarse whistles for some reason. Other favs are 425's B&O 3 Chime, both steel Nathan 6s, and of course Cass 5's Lunkenheimer 3. EDIT: The reason why I like that Brass Nathan from 700 the most is it's probably how most of the NKP Berkshires sounded at the end of their careers.
At 28:30 if I’m not mistaken, that might’ve been either the same whistle which was used on C&O 614 from the early to mid 1980s and Reading T-1 #2101 from the late 1970s, or it’s a custom reproduction. Man, I loved how that whistle sounds here!
It is a reproduction from MD Whistles (now part of Rizzoli Locomotive Works), but it does take some influence from the original "K5LA" whistle worn by 2101 and 614.
Great footage dude, and great audio too. The only thing I would note is the Reading 6 on Stras 90 came from the Crusader, and the N&W single on 425 is an 8in. hooter and the one on 475 is a 12in. Great stuff, keep doing what you're doing! (Yes I realize this was uploaded 8 months ago)
my absolute favorite steam locomotive whistles are the lower-pitched ones, such as the Hancock 3-chime. Love those so much I also like the whistles used by the NKP Berkshires
Man, do those Reading whistle hit different. 😮💨 Personally I like the Reading Hooters more than the N&W’s. But those Reading 6 Chimes are amazing. Thanks for this awesome compilation!
We’ve done something like that a couple of times! You can check out our Ramble doubleheader video and part 3 of our Top 10 Retired Steam Excursion Stars to see more of the 2102 from us, and there’s sure to be more still to come.
@@TheNoogaRailfan You’re joking, right? You have a ton of train videos (including Steam locomotives videos obviously with whistles) and you want them to be replaced? Are you some kind of hypocrite?

Cb&q 5 chime by far
Modified Nathan 6 Chime on CASS No.11
1:39
The Reading 6 chime that 2102 and 425 would wear was built by a good friend of mine.
Unless he made them like 80 years ago those aren't the same. Both of those 6 chimes are OG reading whistles, some complete with patches cut into the sides. Those are old beat up brass castings.
The N&W Whistles really hit the spot of satisfaction. 👌

I love ALL of the 6 chime whistles, and the lunkenheimer 3 chimes😁

NOTHING will ever beat that glorious Reading 6 chime of 2102
My favorite whistle is the Reading 6 Chime from Reading & Northern #425
Enjoyed this very much. Love 576's whistle
Great. Video, I liked the longbell 3 chime
My favorite whistle is the N&W 610 Hancock 3 chime on the 611!
Thank you soon much for this. I have died and go e to heaven.

So many great whistles! Reading 6 chime rocks!

Awesome Video, I'd say my favorite whistle was the CB&Q 5 on 3

at 13:11 that whistle blow of 425 sounds like the DB&EV G16a #13 from k&l trainz
Lots of these Railways seem to love the PRR 3 chime.
It might be because I’m from Indiana which is the home state of the 765 but that Brass Nathan 6 Chime is music to me
Awesome 😊
Now that I'm listening to these steam whistles they beat the horns on diesels hands down.
Diesel air horns are soulless.. The steam whistle is other worldly, it's like a living beast.
5:09 GHOST WHISTLE!!!! RUN!!! 😰😭😱🚂
Anybody else notice the fact that 425’s “stack talk” almost always drowns out its whistle?
Yes I noticed that as well.
What happened to NKP 765’s Brass Nathan 6 chime whistle? It sounds so raspy and not clear anymore.💀💀💀💀💀
Pennsy productions can you make a documentary of 2102
We’ve done something like that a couple of times! You can check out our Ramble doubleheader video and part 3 of our Top 10 Retired Steam Excursion Stars to see more of the 2102 from us, and there’s sure to be more still to come.
NH 3 chime because it reminds me of home ct
The first one is actually a RI (Rock Island) 5 Chime
We were part of the team that mounted the whistle on no. 3. It is a CB&Q 5 Chime.
Correct, if you looked at US sugarcane 148s CB&Q 5 chime and 4070s 5 chime they’re the exact same whistle
New rare thing I saw: 8:17
22:21 oop here come the bombs
a Alaska Railroad 6 chime whistle
Sorry bud, but in the description where the whistles are featured, none of them say that they were Alaska Railroad 6 chime whistles.
8:11 HHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
