Don't really mind Marr re-inventing many off his Smiths-era riffs in more recent videos using new settings etc. But I'm always amused how good and unique these original live versions with lesser quality and fewer FX sound like. They somehow make the sound more natural and relatable for me. There's sorta that "punk" thing going on behind the beautiful music I like a lot. But of course Johnny's a professional guitarist who's always into improving and finding new sounds. That what keeps him relevant even today.
@@Chris-jq1qb not bad per say but it's very a very bright, hard, metallic sound from what I've heard. I assume it's mainly due to the unique pickups. I think Marr makes it work because he has such a deft strumming and picking style. He can play softly and dig in when needed. Others with an aggressive style sound dreadful in my opinion.
The Smiths were so influential in my teens. Would’ve been so special to see them then, or anytime really. Never got the opportunity. I lived in the middle of nowhere.😢
I was there. We were all drunk, jumping and dancing, they were already a great band. And we celebrating them. What to say, a fantastic group playing excellent and new kind of Music. They'll move you, and make you think, as well. 🤗❤️👍🏻
That’s amazing, sounds like it was the best concert mate. I wish I was alive back then to see this performance as well. And boy oh boy does mozzer’s lyrics make you think, such significant and magical music that was the smiths🎉
Perhaps worse is Johnny Marr's stripped back guitar lines, which really hurt the song live. He could muddle through somewhat, but having the 2nd guitarist on live shows (as they did for a time) really was essential.

Abrazos

nice comment. I get the emotion more from the audience
He makes the video for me!!
Looks like a young Stephen Fry..
2:57 for anyone wondering.
his voice is so special here
Guy has serious pipes. This sounds very close to the vocals on the record.
Love the sound of the Johnny’s Roland jazz chorus 120 in the morning
So tinny
Best amp ever made!

Damn I wish I was born on the 60's or 70's to have been able to be there, such a beatiful times!
I love this innocent great, original song by the darling Morrisey. He was very natural unusually so. And the words, no one was writing like this then
Morrissey so confident he drops the mic before the song even really gets going.
lol! i didn’t notice that
he seemed so happy here
but heaven knows he's miserable now 🤧🤧
