The Moody Blues are one of the best bands ever, and their lyrics were always something special. I am glad I had the chance to attend one of their concerts.
The Moodys are a band with a huge, decades-spanning catalog. Even though they have a huge following, their music is underappreciated by many., but you got it right off the bat. You described perfectly how their music can stir one’s soul. They had a tremendous singer/guitar player, Justin Hayward, along with a keyboardist, Mike Pinder, who also played the mellotron, a very challenging,, but atmospheric type of organ that added so much depth and beauty to their music. Based on your other reactions, I think you would really enjoy a deeper dive into their catalog. All the best.
Hayward had 2 songs - neither complete and mashed them together to create this masterpiece - been a fave of mine for over 50 years running - always a wonderful listening experience.
The Moodies were medicinal, mystical, melodious, and mature. They didn't waste time on teen issues, but jumped right into the big issues of the day. Their grand seven concept albums can almost be considered as a unit, and eventually need to be known as seven fingers in a rock and roll hand. They and their fans are wizards, and we are beginning to suspect that you too are a wizard, fooling around with all that advanced progressive music that uses higher maths and brainfoods. Another winner!
Remember that this was written in 1970. These guys were so fa ahead of most of their peers. Enjoy the trip, you have a LOT of their material to discover.
This was one of my favorite songs by the Moodys - great rock message song, mixed with one of the most beautiful, and beautifully-sung, middle sections with very meaningful lyrics and really showcasing Justin Hayward's spectacular voice. He is a true genius - lyricist, composer, guitarist, and singer.
With the Moody Blues you can generally count on poetic lyrics set to fantastic instrumental arrangements. And, on their Days of Future Past concept album they were one of the first rock & roll bands to record and sometimes appear live with an orchestra. They have a lot of very varied material to explore, as you go along.
ALRIGHT! We ain't hitching anymore, we're riding! Thank you whoever recommended this. Their Magnum Opus is the album In Search of the Lost Chord. Legend of a Mind is a must listen too.
The Moody Blues' songs always takes you on trip with their music. This was when many artists wrote songs that questioned the status quo. You need to listen to the whole of their 1967 album "Days of Future Past" a concept album that takes you on a journey through a day.
Justin Hayward with those vocals. Moodies had a run of seven albums which are the pinnacle of prog rock. Days of Future Passed is widely considered the first concept and prog album.
Thanks! 😀 Awesome reaction! The Moody Blues are my favorite band and they have tons and tons of amazing songs… songs that will blow you away! LOVED your reaction!! 😀
Remember how young these bands were during this musical explosion......most were just beginning adulthood and questioning the premise their parents lived by.
One of my favorite songs from this GREAT band. The slightly longer version has a longer guitar lead-in. I love it. By the way, you should see them do this live.
great reaction! all i can say is that the Moody Blues are one of the rare groups brought together by divine intervention! cany wait for your next one! this song was actually 2 unfinished songs both written in C
On "Prog at the BBC" programme they said the song was made up of two different songs tied together because they were both short so Justin decide to join them. Love your reactions ❤
Seeing them LIVE is SO MOVING!! Their music goes RIGHT THROUGH YOU...and, their lyrics are so well placed: thought provoking! One of only three bands that I've seen three times, or more - and, worth EVERY PENNY!! ❤GREAT REACTION! THANKS!!
I love the beautiful middle section which feels heartfelt and sincere. Not sure what's it's doing sandwiched between the Who-like opener and closer. Nevertheless, very successful, peaking at #21 in Billboard and #2 in the UK.
Oh, man! You finally hit on one of my favorite groups ever. Do yourself the favor of reacting to 'I Know You're Out There Somewhere'. It's Chill, squared! If you like that, try Voices In The Sky and Tuesday Afternoon, too.
Justin Hayward is a great vocalist and plays great guitar. Try anything from the album "On The Threshold of a Dream". Or, better, do it all. My favorite MB album.
The Moody 's were a really great band. Were together for years. ( this recording sounded a bit muffled to me - it's alot cleaner on my cd!. ) Their most famous hit is Nights in white satin. There is a longer album version or a shorter single release. It's epic. Other decent hits include. I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band. That's a fast one. Or For my Lady. Very laid back. You and me has great guitar work in it. Isn't life strange is not disimilar to Question. Same feel. Justin Haywood did a great single called Forever Autumn. It's pretty potent too. You won't go far wrong listening to some of their classic hits.
WOW, the memories, I was 21 years old in 1970 and the Moody Blues were my first live concert in December of that year at what used to be The St. Louis Arena. I was blown away.
Moraz was fired in 1991. There was a lengthy court case that followed his dismissal. He was, apparently, offered $400,000 before the lawsuit, but came away with $77,175.
I was blessed to see the moody blues when I was in high school. All my schoolmates in New Jersey were jealous. They sounded just as good live as they did on a record, 8 track or cassette.

I've been to 8 concerts in my 73 years...The Moody Blues were 4 of them. Need I say more?

I still play this song, all the time! Great band! ♥️🤩
The Moody Blues are one of the first progressive rock bands from the 60's.
Mystical, Atmospheric, Dreamy and Poetic.
One of my favourite bands. ❤
ALRIGHT! We ain't hitching anymore, we're riding! Thank you whoever recommended this.
Their Magnum Opus is the album In Search of the Lost Chord. Legend of a Mind is a must listen too.
This song was sung by Justin Hayward who wrote this song & many others…1970👍👏👏👏💜
Music like this always takes me to a different place.... and I'm free.
Enjoy.

Always delivers and hits deep in the heart.

Love this song....The transition to "its not the way" is unreal.
they were my first concert, way back in 71.
TMB,the most spiritual journey in music land.
Just discovered your channel; great reaction!
The ‘knocking at the door’ drum fill is considered one of the greatest drum fills in music.

I was 11 or 12 when this played on the radio and it’s been a lifelong favorite of mine. Yay!

Absolutely Love their Live concert from Royal Albert Hall 2008..I believe ❤

Another song from the Moody Blues is: Candle Of Life…you will love it Shawn! ♥️👏👏👏
That’s a beautiful song!

Saw them in March, '70 when they opened their US tour to promote the album this was on.

Seen them 3x. Great band. They usually closed their show with this song.
♥
It’s pretty epic for a song from 1970’s, seen them in concert
1984 Santa Barbara. I thought they were old then.
now that you've done the Question, you need to do it's counterpart, the Balance.
👍👍👍👍👍👍

Your first Moody? Amazing. They were as good as anyone and better in many ways.
💙😢💙😢💙😢💙🙏✨
Well now you just hit a deep rabbit hole. Awesome group. Check out The Story In Your Eyes album
That was one hell of a poor quality version of this song. Sounds like you're in a tunnel....
hopefully it sounded better in his headphones...
