Another one of my favorite characters in this game is Onion Cookie, a tiny child who was KILLED by being smashed by a chandelier, and became a ghost who only Blackberry cookie can see. Onion Cookie is constantly paranoid and sobbing in the game 😭
I'm surprised you didn't mention White Lily learning the truth about the witches and seeing the dead, half-eaten bodies of her own kind. That was a pretty messed up villain origin story. Would've fit right in with nightmare fuel.

Be in this fandom for long enough, and you start to feel attached to these adorable pastry characters. I just like how in kingdom they weren't afraid to add countless instances of real-life, both good and especially bad in this case, to this pg13 candyland. I'm personally open to fanfiction. You'll regret it, but it'll be funny.
what sad to me is I have to leave it after getting attached. so every time anything mentions Cookie Run I feel very sad, I want to see my favorites cookies again. What are they up to? After a year of not keeping up, I think I will be overwhelmed by all the new content.

True, especially for Kingdom in my opinion. I liked both the kingdom production and battle gameplay at first but after awhile (excuse me for the unintentional pun) it just got kinda stale with how repetitive it can be. I was tempted to redownload to see the most recent characters but I really wouldn't want to slog through the game again since that's why I stopped playing in the first place. I usually just see CR through fanart and tiktok now because of the characters
i hate that this is comprehensible to me. i play cookie run kingdom, and its fucking intense. im gonna mention a couple things that youll think are funny as fuck out of context: -the evil team started a boy band at one point -the dating sim is actually really fucking good -the reason the main villain is evil is bc she learned that humans eat cookies -one of the villains dressed as a woman for plot reasons and everyone respected that despite clearly knowing that it was for a scheme -red velvet cookie owns my whole heart

Coffee cookie has actually appeared once in CROB, being one of the background cookies in Fashion Week. She can be seen in the Coffee part and is actively having a break or something.
as a longtime cookie runner, lemmie point out a few things! COOKIE WARS- the lore for the game was really cool and kept a lot of people playing, however the game itself was REALLY not fun. it got extremely difficult very suddenly, and the gacha system was miserable. i knew cookie run at the time for being very easy to play for free an had gotten every ovenbreak cookie without paying a cent, but it was next to impossible to get anything useful from cookie wars gacha. i reccomend looking for a playthrough of the story if youre interested in that! a fun fact about kingdoms: the dark flour war is called that because so many cookies were killed so brutally that the only thing that remained was burnt flour! lastly a couple of the scrapped cookies *have* appeared in games before, like coffee cookie, but are in games that are no longer available.
As a crk player (I just never got into overbreak), this games lore is insane. Theres death, religion, phycological torture, magic, a disney crossover, a child? stoner/drug dealer, gods I think, wizards and witches (there is a difference btw), a dream realm, a dream train, moonlight and stardust cookie, schools separated by ideals and flavors, a feral child in the woods (theres controversy surrounding her), robots, daddy issues, vampires, ghosts, zombies, and more Edit: (adding more to the list because of all the replys and things I forgot) “depressed kraken with amnesia”, sirens/mermaids , the time police, the lorax, a dimension hopper, sonic, bts (😒) (more to come)
Every game has its controversy, if you wanna stop playing because a few elements make you personally uncomfortable, go ahead. I find it a bit trivial honestly.

As a mobile game AND an rpg gamer I can confirm, I did cringe. Cookie Run fanfic is mostly all humanized so they’re not actually cookies (usually) Devsister also got into a lot of shit for trying to implement NFTs for a very long time

A weird event in CR history is the sudden popularity boom of CR:K because of Genshin's 1st anniversary. People flocked in once the english dub came out (because it was mainly korean for months which was also the better dub imo), boycotted Genshin and calling the game adorable and less controversial (lmao) This of course, splits the community in half because some of the newcomers was (to put it lightly) bad.
I joined the fandom around this time, and man, do I wish I did a bit earlier. Or without all of the drama happening. Sure, it still had its dark spots here and there, but the community was a bit better around that period.

When I learned about crk I joined because it actually gave players pretty good rewards for doing stuff or just updates. Unlike genshin which gave players crap nothing.

longtime cookie run fan of 7+ years here! i think ovenbreak and kingdom have their own equal amounts of deep lore. while kingdom focuses on a much more chronologically based storyline cut into chapters, ovenbreak typically contains tons and i mean *tons* of isolated, occasionally intertwining stories. in recent years ovenbreak introduced its own story mode that primarily focused on the adventures of gingerbrave and his friends after escaping the witch’s oven, but frequently updates will consist of stories that introduce new characters that may or may not include pre existing characters. guild run, the dragon arcs, yogurca, sugarteara and the tower of frozen waves, detective run, and the city of the millennial tree are a few notable story arcs. i think kingdom has become so much more popular than its predecessor since its release (in addition to devsisters’ astronomically aggressive marketing during its release in 2021) is that the game focuses a lot more on its primary storyline as opposed to ovenbreak’s often limited time stories. i could write an essay on how their presentations are so radically different but i would be here all day lol. anyway detective run is the best story and also stan roguefort cookie
Cookie Run is actually a really fun game with great characters despite the horrible controversy While I enjoy both Ovenbreak and Kingdom, if I had to pick one for you to play, I would suggest Kingdom While it is Grindy, its not as bad as some people think in my opinion, it also gets updates like every month
@Quaxer the powercreep's real, and it's been getting worse with the recent updates. There is somewhat of a "variety" now for the meta teams, especially in the arena, but they still consist of the newer cookies, which says a lot about the powercreep problem.
I would love to see Athena cover the Cookies of Darkness storyline. The sheer amount of trauma that Dark Choco Cookie has endured... I wanna see how she reacts. Also, as much as I'd love to see her react to fics, I fear the idea that she might find mine { :)
That really would be a good one to cover. It's basically got all of DC's backstory, and it shows just how far Pomegranate Cookie will go to prove a point.
I definitely sympathize with Licorice the most out of all the CoD. While he is more of a comedic villain and a blowhard, what we learn from both the devs and his English VA is pretty sad. Licorice only joined Dark Enchantress out of desperation, since years of working hard to be appreciated and noticed never got him anywhere in life; and she basically took advantage of that insecurity.

The flashback cutscenes in that story made me cry (especially in the English dub). It was really well done imo and I could feel Dark Choco Cookie’s agony

I asked Reddit, and they didn't answer my question. They only answered how Alchemist and Vampire Cookie are related(Because their main ingredient is grapes), but they were made in a Witch's oven. No one answered how Dark Cacao is the Biological FATHER of Dark Choco. Or How Hollyberry Cookie has a Son, and that son is married, and his wife got pregnant. HOW??? Gingerbrave literally wears 0 clothes. We don't see anything there, so how does a Completely flat Cookie... Get pregnant??? It makes no sense and no one will answer me!

I love how the comic brings more cookies to life because in game they don't interact much so they don't get to show much personality (atleast as much as in the comic) Like for Wind Archer. In game he just a cool mysterious quiet guy but in the comics he's goofy and more charming. I never really like him in game but the comics makes me love him. Heck, I guess I like the legendaries in comic more than in game. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE all of fire spirit bro he's fantastic Also it itches my cookie run fanatic's brain because there's interactions between cookies that I want more in game. Like between Roll Cake and Pancake for example. I could go on and on about this but I think you get the gist of it
That actually was precisely the reason. OvenBreak 2 did not have the Energy mechanic(basically health) of every game after it (unless they had actual health bars), so you could run infinitely until you got hit. Because of that, GingerBright(5:45) gives you more reaction time. I think canonically, she called GingerBright for having that and other "bright" ideas. But yeah, every other game gave you limited Energy, so going faster(but still not getting hit) is now the optimal strategy.
As someone who’s in the cookie run fandom, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TALKING ABOUT THIS. And also I’m sorry that you had to go through all of this. It’s shocking that this game can be so controversial but have a lot of interesting character designs and lore. I have been losing a significant amount of interest in both games because of how p2w and grindy they both have gotten
Hey! I’m the owner of the cookie run wiki (the snazzy one in this video). I’m glad this series is as confusing as I’d imagine it to be for outsiders. If there’s anything weird with the wiki, I’m sorry on that. That’s a rabbit hole for another day but I only claimed ownership like less than a year ago. But besides that, this video was really funny and it gave me a good laugh. 10/10. Also thanks for showing off the scrapped cookies- the user who handles those puts a lot of effort in preserving these things. I’ll relay to her that her efforts are thriving even more!
10:03 I can give you some context here. Basiaclly. Dark Choco was controlled by a sword and nearly killed his father, Dark Cacao Cookie. Dark Choco was banished from his kingdom (though later he comes back and reconciles with his dad at a later time). In the meantime, Dark Choco was haunted by the guilt and trauma from that event (he even shows signs of both PTSD and some type of depressive disorder). He felt like he deserved nothing and like his only option was to pursue darkness despite not wanting to be evil and wanting to be a hero. Due to that, he joined a group of evil cookies that included one cookie named Pomegranate Cookie. Pomegranate Cookie was extremely abusive towards him and LITERALLY USED HER MAGIC TO TORTURE HIM BY MAKING HIM RELIVE THE TRAUMATIC DAY WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO KILL HIS FATHER BECAUSE OF THE SWORD CONTROLLING HIM. She also kept doubling down and kept him thinking that he's worthless and undeserving of peace and happiness. Year Cookie Run Kingdom lore can get extremely fucked up. I haven't even gotten the chance to talk about the story of Golden Cheese Cookie.

I have to agree with some of the comments here, it'd be really fun to do a tier list of Cookie designs. Also, check out the Time Balance Department storylines, the TBD is full of charm and has some really good (and surprisingly sad) bits. Alternate universe Croissant Cookie deserved better.
Cookie Run has kinda been my special interest over a year now, and it makes me happy to "share" that with others. I am both mad and sad at the controversies this franchise has dredged up over the years, but I deeply appreciate that there are still people that are able to enjoy the more positive sides of the fandom, while not failing to speak up about any discourse. That being said, I've also developed another special interest about a game called "My Singing Monsters". It released a few years after Ovenbreak, and just celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. There's singing, monsters, and a surprising amount of lore, worldbuilding and community engagement and involvement. If Athena somehow reads this and ever wants to try out this video format again(your other videos are still amazing sincerely), I would like to recommend this game. Not just because, again, special interest, but also as a sort of "cleanser". This game has a very wholesome vibe to it, with prominent themes of collaboration and harmony(fitting for a music game I guess), but also environmental conservation and the exploration and beauty of the natural world. Obviously, the decision is your won, I just wanted to put this idea out there because again, it's a great feeling to be able to share something that makes me happy. And I'm sure you'd like it too; just note you probably won't be able to "breeze" through progression. It's a very casual experience and Free-2-Play is completely valid option, but many let's players have purchased in-game currency simply for convenience and ease of recording.

11:41 As someone here who has played so much role playing games, grinding in video games, is like doing the daily chores, washing dishes, laundry, walking the dog, and cleaning the house. Yes, it's boring and repetitive, that's why some gamers often don't like RPGs that much(*cough*, Pokemon), but the reward is worth it in the end, washing dishes means clean plates, the dog gets to go outside and run around, and cleaning the house means less mice, spiders and dust everywhere. I haven't touched Cookie Run at all, (because Genshin stole me first) but honestly this looks like a good game, kinda wished they didn't went through with the harmful stereotyping.

As someone who just recently got back into kingdom after a year (never played ovenbreak), the lore is absolutely wild to me. I knew some of the kingdom lore but not any of the ovenbreak stuff lol Also I’ve been going through the odyssey storyline and I am in love with the Wildberry cookie/Crunchy chip cookie ship! It’s so cute!
I got around to watched this been busy along with this not coming on my recommended until now. And as an avid player of Kingdom, now Tower of Adventure and former player of the Witch's Castle there is definitely issues with rep but it does appear they are slowly starting to listen at least from the games I've played especially after the last Kingdom update with the Awakened feature and Beast of the Yeast stuff where people pulled up with the protest van due to the latest gacha. It'd be fun for you to look back especially with how frequently this franchise gets updates and I'd say TOA would be your get in now as it appears similar to the still unreleased OvenSmash.

It was found 2 be a scam made by a completely different company. Devsis did consider making official nfts, but i'm pretty sure they gave up on it bc of how unprofittable nfts are, and the fandom's backlash.
@@413e another reason for the cancellation is that South Korea made it so NFTs would be illegal to put in games, and if I remember correctly, Devsisters stated that they would implement NFTs into some of their future games, so they can’t implement NFTs into their games without getting fined

I know this is an old video but if you havent, you should totally check out video compilations of the stories/chapters because they are genuinely pretty good and you dont have to directly support Devsisters. Kingdom unlike Ovenbreak is far better at not having problamatic elements (One of the new kingdoms is based on Egypt and Mesoamerica and they do a pretty good job with it imo). The story is not a masterpiece but it has so many good elements that outweight the bad (just ignore that the timeline isn't perfect)
9:33 Oh, wait until you hear about the Disney collab in which you get unplayable and unusable cookie versions of Disney characters (most of which are Mickey's friends and princesses) that just walk around your kingdom and say stuff sometimes. As an ex-cookie run fan, through my 6-ish years of playing Ovenbreak and 2 years of playing Kingdom I've seen a lot of different things, especially from reddit as I used it most often, shipping wars, straight up fights, drama, thirsting, NFTs a LOT of things have happened. I mean, sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's not, sometimes they do things that cater to a very specific group of people (like the best spring picnic ever storyline from Kingdom had past me in a chokehold over a very specific ship) but all I would recommend, do not go deep into Google looking at fanart, stay away from Herb Cookie x Sparkling Cookie, and read Cotton Cookie and Sherbert Cookies stories
I've been playing both Ovenbreak and Kingdom for over a year (occasionally Puzzle World) and yeah it's.. It's a lot- but the stories majority of the time gets me so hooked and I love the representation (when done correctly *stares at sneaky sands clan update*). I am, so sorry you have to see all of this 😭
Being a Cookie Run Kingdom Lore enjoyer ruined my life in the funniest way possible. I feel like a keeper of the world's stupidest eldritch knowledge. Getting into Cookie Run is like thinking you're safe in the shallow end, but the moment you go ankle-deep in the water, some unseen force doesn't just drag you into the deep end... It flings you into the stratosphere and slam-dunks you right into the abyss.
Oh, yeah about the Hitler Cookie, first of Devsisters did not do this. That picture was from a manga that made from another company made manga from the other side of the world. Devsisters don't have any idea of what is going on and basically gave full rights to use Cookie Run to a manga series. And after thay controversy, they no longer made copies of the manga that had Hitler Cookie.
As a cookie run fan this was hilarious to watch, I had to quit kingdom a good while ago because it was quite taxing on my technology but I will say it was addictive to try and get all of the cookies and anticipating when the next one would drop. I hope we get an animated series from the cookie run world that takes advantage of its lore. Btw do you have a favorite cookie? I keep seeing so many new ones I can’t help but adore but my favorite is red velvet (partially cuz of how sweet he is to the cake hounds)

In the most recent (as of writing this comment) update had a “plague of flour” which had cookies COUGHING THEIR FLOUR UP! The being responsible for this has more lore involved than I can reasonably put here.

Yesss! I quit playing genshin for similar reasons... But watching a originally small company with a honestly neat game concept do similar things is sad. Mainly just know about cookie run kingdom, not ovenbreak tho. Im a mobile game player, bc they're usually more casual and easily accessible.

dont know if theres any other comments about this but im surprised that you didnt mention any other controversy the company has gotten themselves into because id say its a decent amount, some from the top of my head (some might be remembered wrong): -the burning sun guild (a guild named to mock the victims of a drug ring, i believe they also changed their usernames to the perprotrators and from what i can remember devsis didnt remove it for awhile) -a valentines video of i think 2020? the devs collected fanart and some of them were whitewashed and had questionable pairings -nft stuff twice, one at the end of 2021 (i know cuz i leftthe community again at the time) and one i assume around early? 2022 -i remember seeing people not be happy about goblin cookie and others trying to defend it, i have no say in the issue to take this however you will -saverose, a community manager was seen crying on a i believe privated livestream, from what i have heard from 2nd hand accounts on another livestream people paid for misogenistic and other nasty stuff and she defended the company, theres alot more info just what i remember from the top of my head -this one is smaller but there was a roblox collab where if you submit a game cookie run themed you could win something (i think it was money) but the terms of service said something along the lines of 'if you submit a game even if you dont win its now our property and we can do whatever' i think no one entered -not a controversy but worth mentioning is that they once mentioned that they named themselves devsisters so that they can get more employees since sister was more 'fresh and interesting' i believe, dont remember the wording but it was really werid i think the worst thing about yogurca is that this is the 3RD UPDATE, the 2nd update was on i believe june 29 2021, and while people were upset by it i think its easy to see that they didnt listen, i think half of the controversies i mentioned were boycotts aswell and it didnt do anything so as much as i hate to say it i dont think this boycott will do anything also on another note i think the reason why there was so much shipping drama (i havent seen it much in 2021 but it was rampant in 2019), is because since the devs didnt comfirm weather or not the new characters were infact kids and the only info we had at the time was a really old event and what ive seen they still dont (aside from i think walnut? and bell pepper) that and there were so manycharacters shipping was bound to happen it was this chaotic concuction, again i dont know how modern day cookie run is like with the confirmation of the kids but god was it so confusing cookie run is bittersweet for me, i love the characters and it helped me when i was in rough spots but this company really sucks in my opinion, i wish it was my oc world instead so i could rewrite it
As someone who plays and is in the fandom this video is hilarious and all of the stuff you read and saw is very true about the game 😭 it’s crazy but I love it a lot. If you want to react to stories I’d recommend the sweet tower of chaos story or the cacao kingdom story (theyre quite something)
I’m I big cookie run fan and has been in this fandom for a long time and honestly this fandom kinda gets mad at nothing sometimes/ misunderstands stuff / believes the wrong thing
I think this wouldn't have all happened if it wasn't for the fandom consisting of really little kids. So much so that it makes me, who's turning 18 this year, feel really old for getting into this game. I can't even begin to think how and why I'm so attached to either the deadest or most hellish communities the Internet has to offer, there's no inbetween.
There’s also drama about turning cookies into humans, basically, some people white wash cookies who clearly have more darker skin tones, (ex: Cocoa Cookie) and well, white wash them. While some people (in my opinion) take it too far and attack people who white-wash cookies like Black Pearl or Pitiya Dragon who clearly unnatural skin tones, but still, it’s still an issue. There’s a few official sources for human versions for cookies, like the rainbow shroomie event, (and btw, I’m surprised you didn’t mention that fever dream of an event) but they’re few and far between.
Ooooo, I don't usually interact with the fandom because I tended to see a lot of discourse after Kingdom came out, so I didn't even think of Peppercorn being a bomber since I didn't get her...oh no. I can understand genies being in the game, since they're a magic being in a magical world, but not that! Glad that is being called out, though. It's good to criticize even media you're a fan of when it's deserved.
I was really into kingdom for awhile, but haven't played or interacted with the fandom for a long while so I've never heard about these controversies up untill now. And Jesus christ alright then.
I legit boycotted the game for good after the new Yogurca update. I’d had a list of grievances with the game for a long time, but that was the last straw for me!

I think if Cookie Run characters were humans but everything else was the same, the vast majority of the fandom discourse wouldn't been seen as objectively silly as it is. Fighting over fictional humans isn't any more nobIe than fighting over fictional cookies. I think we need to look to Cookie Run as an example to humble ourselves in times of great fandom wank.
As a cookie run player they did changed the controversial bomb jelly set but it was still really bad and in ovenbreak they have croissant cookie who ends up finding their alternate self as a diffrent cookie know as timekeeper cookie and its crazy

There's a youtube channel that has full compilations of Kingdom cutscenes, if you wanna look into it. Royal Mike, I think? I haven't watched them in a while, so I don't know if their videos still use the original Korean voice acting, but I'd recommend finding videos with it, bc they usually have the english subtitles on.
As a fan- Kingdom is better by a landslide The story is a bit more straightforward and easier to grasp (I tried doing OB but I got confused immediately). The mechanics- at least to me- are more fun, it’s completely f2p (purchases are there but unnecessary, there are plenty of opportunities to earn rewards through regular play. Not completely sure about OB- I’ve never played and downright refuse to), and the voice-acting is pretty on-point for most of the characters. …also it’s way less racist then OB, especially with the new update. Kingdom is more focused on bringing people together, with characters often having to find that the people around them are human too (and the racist characters like Custard the first are rightfully portrayed as these spiteful, awful people). Yogurca is only briefly depicted, and is not focused on in the slightest. Lilac Cookie is the only playable cookie from that region, and although he is still an assassin/bodyguard, he is not portrayed much differently than say… Wildberry Cookie or Financier Cookie. Both Lilac Cookie and Yogurt Cream Cookie (both from Yogurca) only appear in any mode’s story during the Tropical Soda Islands story. Lilac is the only major player in that story, with Yogurt Cream only making a brief appearance before Lilac helps Princess Cookie, Sparkling Cookie, and Knight Cookie to escape.
I hope there's a part 2 eventually Like, choco werehound brute/schwarzwalder is a great character and i hoped she'd mention him once but alas it seems he just didn't appear at any of the things she looked àt And as for a particular storyline, i hope she reacts/analyzes the tower of sweet chaos storyline, like, it's the biggest lore dump/trauma dump in cookie run kingdom and it's amazing, most likely my favorite storyline in the game

So it would definitely be possible to draw a cookie that's supposed to look like a certain race with super light skin dough.

Here’s the difference in Cookie Runs: CROB: U escape the witches castle and explore the world while learning about lore of other characters CRK: U again escape the witches castle and start your own kingdom and learning the history of other kingdoms CRWC (witch’s castle): U didn’t escape and try surviving inside the castle with the help of the other trapped cookies

Another one of my favorite characters in this game is Onion Cookie, a tiny child who was KILLED by being smashed by a chandelier, and became a ghost who only Blackberry cookie can see. Onion Cookie is constantly paranoid and sobbing in the game 😭

COOKIE WARS- the lore for the game was really cool and kept a lot of people playing, however the game itself was REALLY not fun. it got extremely difficult very suddenly, and the gacha system was miserable. i knew cookie run at the time for being very easy to play for free an had gotten every ovenbreak cookie without paying a cent, but it was next to impossible to get anything useful from cookie wars gacha. i reccomend looking for a playthrough of the story if youre interested in that!
a fun fact about kingdoms: the dark flour war is called that because so many cookies were killed so brutally that the only thing that remained was burnt flour!
lastly a couple of the scrapped cookies *have* appeared in games before, like coffee cookie, but are in games that are no longer available.

A weird event in CR history is the sudden popularity boom of CR:K because of Genshin's 1st anniversary.
People flocked in once the english dub came out (because it was mainly korean for months which was also the better dub imo), boycotted Genshin and calling the game adorable and less controversial (lmao)
This of course, splits the community in half because some of the newcomers was (to put it lightly) bad.
yeah I think it was hilarious how people were all like, "Genshin's way too toxic!" and then immeadatly playing CRK.

When I learned about crk I joined because it actually gave players pretty good rewards for doing stuff or just updates. Unlike genshin which gave players crap nothing.

Genshin is an open world exploration, it doesnt need you to have every single characters to work with unless you really need it
longtime cookie run fan of 7+ years here! i think ovenbreak and kingdom have their own equal amounts of deep lore. while kingdom focuses on a much more chronologically based storyline cut into chapters, ovenbreak typically contains tons and i mean *tons* of isolated, occasionally intertwining stories. in recent years ovenbreak introduced its own story mode that primarily focused on the adventures of gingerbrave and his friends after escaping the witch’s oven, but frequently updates will consist of stories that introduce new characters that may or may not include pre existing characters. guild run, the dragon arcs, yogurca, sugarteara and the tower of frozen waves, detective run, and the city of the millennial tree are a few notable story arcs. i think kingdom has become so much more popular than its predecessor since its release (in addition to devsisters’ astronomically aggressive marketing during its release in 2021) is that the game focuses a lot more on its primary storyline as opposed to ovenbreak’s often limited time stories. i could write an essay on how their presentations are so radically different but i would be here all day lol. anyway detective run is the best story and also stan roguefort cookie

That really would be a good one to cover. It's basically got all of DC's backstory, and it shows just how far Pomegranate Cookie will go to prove a point.
I definitely sympathize with Licorice the most out of all the CoD. While he is more of a comedic villain and a blowhard, what we learn from both the devs and his English VA is pretty sad. Licorice only joined Dark Enchantress out of desperation, since years of working hard to be appreciated and noticed never got him anywhere in life; and she basically took advantage of that insecurity.

No one answered how Dark Cacao is the Biological FATHER of Dark Choco. Or How Hollyberry Cookie has a Son, and that son is married, and his wife got pregnant. HOW??? Gingerbrave literally wears 0 clothes. We don't see anything there, so how does a Completely flat Cookie... Get pregnant??? It makes no sense and no one will answer me!

That actually was precisely the reason. OvenBreak 2 did not have the Energy mechanic(basically health) of every game after it (unless they had actual health bars), so you could run infinitely until you got hit. Because of that, GingerBright(5:45) gives you more reaction time. I think canonically, she called GingerBright for having that and other "bright" ideas.
But yeah, every other game gave you limited Energy, so going faster(but still not getting hit) is now the optimal strategy.
As someone who’s in the cookie run fandom, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TALKING ABOUT THIS. And also I’m sorry that you had to go through all of this. It’s shocking that this game can be so controversial but have a lot of interesting character designs and lore. I have been losing a significant amount of interest in both games because of how p2w and grindy they both have gotten

10:03 I can give you some context here. Basiaclly. Dark Choco was controlled by a sword and nearly killed his father, Dark Cacao Cookie. Dark Choco was banished from his kingdom (though later he comes back and reconciles with his dad at a later time). In the meantime, Dark Choco was haunted by the guilt and trauma from that event (he even shows signs of both PTSD and some type of depressive disorder). He felt like he deserved nothing and like his only option was to pursue darkness despite not wanting to be evil and wanting to be a hero. Due to that, he joined a group of evil cookies that included one cookie named Pomegranate Cookie. Pomegranate Cookie was extremely abusive towards him and LITERALLY USED HER MAGIC TO TORTURE HIM BY MAKING HIM RELIVE THE TRAUMATIC DAY WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO KILL HIS FATHER BECAUSE OF THE SWORD CONTROLLING HIM. She also kept doubling down and kept him thinking that he's worthless and undeserving of peace and happiness.
Year Cookie Run Kingdom lore can get extremely fucked up. I haven't even gotten the chance to talk about the story of Golden Cheese Cookie.

I have to agree with some of the comments here, it'd be really fun to do a tier list of Cookie designs. Also, check out the Time Balance Department storylines, the TBD is full of charm and has some really good (and surprisingly sad) bits. Alternate universe Croissant Cookie deserved better.
Cookie Run has kinda been my special interest over a year now, and it makes me happy to "share" that with others. I am both mad and sad at the controversies this franchise has dredged up over the years, but I deeply appreciate that there are still people that are able to enjoy the more positive sides of the fandom, while not failing to speak up about any discourse.
That being said, I've also developed another special interest about a game called "My Singing Monsters". It released a few years after Ovenbreak, and just celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. There's singing, monsters, and a surprising amount of lore, worldbuilding and community engagement and involvement.
If Athena somehow reads this and ever wants to try out this video format again(your other videos are still amazing sincerely), I would like to recommend this game. Not just because, again, special interest, but also as a sort of "cleanser". This game has a very wholesome vibe to it, with prominent themes of collaboration and harmony(fitting for a music game I guess), but also environmental conservation and the exploration and beauty of the natural world.
Obviously, the decision is your won, I just wanted to put this idea out there because again, it's a great feeling to be able to share something that makes me happy. And I'm sure you'd like it too; just note you probably won't be able to "breeze" through progression. It's a very casual experience and Free-2-Play is completely valid option, but many let's players have purchased in-game currency simply for convenience and ease of recording.

Yes, it's boring and repetitive, that's why some gamers often don't like RPGs that much(*cough*, Pokemon), but the reward is worth it in the end, washing dishes means clean plates, the dog gets to go outside and run around, and cleaning the house means less mice, spiders and dust everywhere.

As someone who just recently got back into kingdom after a year (never played ovenbreak), the lore is absolutely wild to me. I knew some of the kingdom lore but not any of the ovenbreak stuff lol
Also I’ve been going through the odyssey storyline and I am in love with the Wildberry cookie/Crunchy chip cookie ship! It’s so cute!
I got around to watched this been busy along with this not coming on my recommended until now. And as an avid player of Kingdom, now Tower of Adventure and former player of the Witch's Castle there is definitely issues with rep but it does appear they are slowly starting to listen at least from the games I've played especially after the last Kingdom update with the Awakened feature and Beast of the Yeast stuff where people pulled up with the protest van due to the latest gacha. It'd be fun for you to look back especially with how frequently this franchise gets updates and I'd say TOA would be your get in now as it appears similar to the still unreleased OvenSmash.

I’m surprised the NFT thing never came up. Granted that was a while ago with so many other things coming later (like the mentioned popcorn cookie thing) I’m not sure if they ever even apologized for it/cancelled that plan.
It was found 2 be a scam made by a completely different company. Devsis did consider making official nfts, but i'm pretty sure they gave up on it bc of how unprofittable nfts are, and the fandom's backlash.
@@413e another reason for the cancellation is that South Korea made it so NFTs would be illegal to put in games, and if I remember correctly, Devsisters stated that they would implement NFTs into some of their future games, so they can’t implement NFTs into their games without getting fined

I know this is an old video but if you havent, you should totally check out video compilations of the stories/chapters because they are genuinely pretty good and you dont have to directly support Devsisters. Kingdom unlike Ovenbreak is far better at not having problamatic elements (One of the new kingdoms is based on Egypt and Mesoamerica and they do a pretty good job with it imo). The story is not a masterpiece but it has so many good elements that outweight the bad (just ignore that the timeline isn't perfect)

As an ex-cookie run fan, through my 6-ish years of playing Ovenbreak and 2 years of playing Kingdom I've seen a lot of different things, especially from reddit as I used it most often, shipping wars, straight up fights, drama, thirsting, NFTs a LOT of things have happened.
I mean, sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's not, sometimes they do things that cater to a very specific group of people (like the best spring picnic ever storyline from Kingdom had past me in a chokehold over a very specific ship)
but all I would recommend, do not go deep into Google looking at fanart, stay away from Herb Cookie x Sparkling Cookie, and read Cotton Cookie and Sherbert Cookies stories
I've been playing both Ovenbreak and Kingdom for over a year (occasionally Puzzle World) and yeah it's.. It's a lot- but the stories majority of the time gets me so hooked and I love the representation (when done correctly *stares at sneaky sands clan update*). Oh, yeah about the Hitler Cookie, first of Devsisters did not do this. That picture was from a manga that made from another company made manga from the other side of the world. Devsisters don't have any idea of what is going on and basically gave full rights to use Cookie Run to a manga series. And after thay controversy, they no longer made copies of the manga that had Hitler Cookie.
As a cookie run fan this was hilarious to watch, I had to quit kingdom a good while ago because it was quite taxing on my technology but I will say it was addictive to try and get all of the cookies and anticipating when the next one would drop. I hope we get an animated series from the cookie run world that takes advantage of its lore. Btw do you have a favorite cookie? I keep seeing so many new ones I can’t help but adore but my favorite is red velvet (partially cuz of how sweet he is to the cake hounds)

dont know if theres any other comments about this but im surprised that you didnt mention any other controversy the company has gotten themselves into because id say its a decent amount, some from the top of my head (some might be remembered wrong):
-the burning sun guild (a guild named to mock the victims of a drug ring, i believe they also changed their usernames to the perprotrators and from what i can remember devsis didnt remove it for awhile)
-a valentines video of i think 2020? the devs collected fanart and some of them were whitewashed and had questionable pairings
-nft stuff twice, one at the end of 2021 (i know cuz i leftthe community again at the time) and one i assume around early? 2022
-i remember seeing people not be happy about goblin cookie and others trying to defend it, i have no say in the issue to take this however you will
-saverose, a community manager was seen crying on a i believe privated livestream, from what i have heard from 2nd hand accounts on another livestream people paid for misogenistic and other nasty stuff and she defended the company, theres alot more info just what i remember from the top of my head
-this one is smaller but there was a roblox collab where if you submit a game cookie run themed you could win something (i think it was money) but the terms of service said something along the lines of 'if you submit a game even if you dont win its now our property and we can do whatever' i think no one entered
-not a controversy but worth mentioning is that they once mentioned that they named themselves devsisters so that they can get more employees since sister was more 'fresh and interesting' i believe, dont remember the wording but it was really werid
i think the worst thing about yogurca is that this is the 3RD UPDATE, the 2nd update was on i believe june 29 2021, and while people were upset by it i think its easy to see that they didnt listen, i think half of the controversies i mentioned were boycotts aswell and it didnt do anything so as much as i hate to say it i dont think this boycott will do anything
also on another note i think the reason why there was so much shipping drama (i havent seen it much in 2021 but it was rampant in 2019), is because since the devs didnt comfirm weather or not the new characters were infact kids and the only info we had at the time was a really old event and what ive seen they still dont (aside from i think walnut? and bell pepper) that and there were so manycharacters shipping was bound to happen it was this chaotic concuction, again i dont know how modern day cookie run is like with the confirmation of the kids but god was it so confusing
cookie run is bittersweet for me, i love the characters and it helped me when i was in rough spots but this company really sucks in my opinion, i wish it was my oc world instead so i could rewrite it
As someone who plays and is in the fandom this video is hilarious and all of the stuff you read and saw is very true about the game 😭 it’s crazy but I love it a lot. If you want to react to stories I’d recommend the sweet tower of chaos story or the cacao kingdom story (theyre quite something)

I think this wouldn't have all happened if it wasn't for the fandom consisting of really little kids. So much so that it makes me, who's turning 18 this year, feel really old for getting into this game. There’s also drama about turning cookies into humans, basically, some people white wash cookies who clearly have more darker skin tones, (ex: Cocoa Cookie) and well, white wash them. While some people (in my opinion) take it too far and attack people who white-wash cookies like Black Pearl or Pitiya Dragon who clearly unnatural skin tones, but still, it’s still an issue. There’s a few official sources for human versions for cookies, like the rainbow shroomie event, (and btw, I’m surprised you didn’t mention that fever dream of an event) but they’re few and far between.

Ooooo, I don't usually interact with the fandom because I tended to see a lot of discourse after Kingdom came out, so I didn't even think of Peppercorn being a bomber since I didn't get her...oh no. I can understand genies being in the game, since they're a magic being in a magical world, but not that!

I think if Cookie Run characters were humans but everything else was the same, the vast majority of the fandom discourse wouldn't been seen as objectively silly as it is. Fighting over fictional humans isn't any more nobIe than fighting over fictional cookies. I think we need to look to Cookie Run as an example to humble ourselves in times of great fandom wank.

I haven't watched them in a while, so I don't know if their videos still use the original Korean voice acting, but I'd recommend finding videos with it, bc they usually have the english subtitles on.
As a fan- Kingdom is better by a landslide
The story is a bit more straightforward and easier to grasp (I tried doing OB but I got confused immediately). The mechanics- at least to me- are more fun, it’s completely f2p (purchases are there but unnecessary, there are plenty of opportunities to earn rewards through regular play. Not completely sure about OB- I’ve never played and downright refuse to), and the voice-acting is pretty on-point for most of the characters.
…also it’s way less racist then OB, especially with the new update. Kingdom is more focused on bringing people together, with characters often having to find that the people around them are human too (and the racist characters like Custard the first are rightfully portrayed as these spiteful, awful people). Yogurca is only briefly depicted, and is not focused on in the slightest. Lilac Cookie is the only playable cookie from that region, and although he is still an assassin/bodyguard, he is not portrayed much differently than say… Wildberry Cookie or Financier Cookie. Both Lilac Cookie and Yogurt Cream Cookie (both from Yogurca) only appear in any mode’s story during the Tropical Soda Islands story. Lilac is the only major player in that story, with Yogurt Cream only making a brief appearance before Lilac helps Princess Cookie, Sparkling Cookie, and Knight Cookie to escape.

And as for a particular storyline, i hope she reacts/analyzes the tower of sweet chaos storyline, like, it's the biggest lore dump/trauma dump in cookie run kingdom and it's amazing, most likely my favorite storyline in the game

Here’s the difference in Cookie Runs:
CROB: U escape the witches castle and explore the world while learning about lore of other characters
CRK: U again escape the witches castle and start your own kingdom and learning the history of other kingdoms
CRWC (witch’s castle): U didn’t escape and try surviving inside the castle with the help of the other trapped cookies
