@@cynic256 this is the video review of the D2. What holds you from ordering one? This is the best commuter right now. Love this model. Use the link and code to get lower price.
This is a great e-bike for high speed and water resistant qualities but my Vanpowers Urbanglide Pro has much more torque for slower speeds up to 20mph. I also think the motor on mine is much quieter then the Velotric Discover 2. All e-bikes have their positive sides and negative sides ....it all comes down to what matters most to you.
That improvised brake test was crazy ahhaha, at least we know they work and they work WELL. Thanks for the review, I'm sold on this as my next ebike in a few months.
I love it! @21:35 "fuck mannnn, you're not even signaling" This is by far the best e bike brake test in history of youtube.... Velotric needs to give you a bonus!
Would be nice if it was belt driven, would be more water proof then. Chains have their advantages, but I prefer belt drives or rear hub motors for e-bikes. Less maintenance and don't have to worry about crap slinging on your pant leg.
you cant have it all also it will require a gear hub and more weight and complications. I think it is perfect the way it is. Chains are also cheap and easy to replace.
I do not agree with most of these negative commenters but I will say there are sprays available that will neutralize the salt residue and that would be a good idea to use it around the electrical contacts. I live by salt water and it can be nasty on just about any metal. But great review!
Just like a car that gets flooded, the problems don’t show up for weeks or months after. IPX6 doesn’t mean much, water gets in places that don’t get water rating tested, otherwise it would have IPX8 like a phone
You probably figured it out by now, I believe the knob on top of the left side of the fork is for the air valve. Turn it counter clockwise until it comes off and you will see the valve to add air.
This is a beauty!! wow...in RED...I have to get me one of these!!! About the Find My feature. Is this just an airtag or somethng else? Is this something a thief could easily remove? The shock absorber-did you say that it cannot be locked up? but the shock absorbtion amount can be adjusted? I sometimes don't like too much shock absorption when riding my Radcity 5 plus across the city. This velotric is A fabulous next generation ebike. It reaches dangerous speeds!! 31mph is a lot! You are a NYC road warrior!! THe Looks solid. Thanks for the great video. So much effort went into this. Bravo
The airtag is inside the frame and cannot be removed. The front suspension can be locked and adjusted. Thank you so much, I hope people share and buy this model. It is my favorite commuter right now. The new features are insanely cool.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace great! SO i guess the airtag takes its charge directly from the bike? otherwise I have to replace the battery in my airtags once a year...this bike is a step in the future! I hope it's not too heavy. My Radcity is 65lbs! How heavy is this Velotric 2...I will go to their website. Thanks a lot
I am glad you liked it. It has been over a week and it does not rust after dumping it in the Hudson. Really impressed how well it performs after. I have even it oil it or clean it which I should do right away.
I only heard bad things about RAD ebikes in NYC. The city administration was trying to ban them due to the fires 🔥 that happened in the last 2 years in New York. Velotric and D2 specifically is my favorite long range commuter since I started UA-cam. Best all around ebike. I did filmed yesterday a follow up to this review that is coming tomorrow.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace I would get a waterproof bike if it was 60V and had a 40-50 amp controller with dual suspension. Like an E Cells or Goat bike. Wired Freedom. 😂
How would you feel if I did a waterproof test on you in the Hudson River?!?! jk, jk, but it hurt watching you submerge such a great bike in that filthy water.😂
You are worrying about the screen and you just put the bike in the nasty salt water of NYC ...... Let it sit for about a week and see how well she runs then ...... I dont think she gonna run too good or run at all ! lol
Wow! You compared it to Specialized and Trek. They only have middrive bikes and this is a hub motor. Specialized and Trek are like the Toyota and Honda of bikes when it comes to quality and reliability. Plus, you can't match with the many decades of history they have in perfecting manufacturing. You really can't compare. This is in the same class of Aventon, Rad Bikes, HeyBike, etc.
Trek and Specialized have less experience in the e-bike sector and are copying what smaller brands are doing also have hub drive versions. You need to research more.
@ElectricVehicleSpace, Specialized has been producing e-bikes for the past 5 years, but I'm uncertain about Trek's duration in the market. While both companies offer hub motor bikes, I personally haven't witnessed any being ridden on our local streets. Interestingly, they don't actively promote these bikes, as they serve primarily as loss leaders for the company. Specialized is renowned for its Turbo Vado and Turbo Tero models, with the only hub drive being the Globe Haul cargo bike. Despite being perceived by some as late entrants to the e-bike industry, it's undeniable that they've invested heavily in research and development, releasing more ebike models than many smaller e-bike-specific brands combined. It's worth noting that most smaller e-bike brands don't actually manufacture anything; they simply purchase pre-made parts and assemble them, then affix their logo.
@HullioGQ I would not buy a specialized or trek bike when better cheaper options are available also more advanced. Trek and specialized are not leaders in bike/ebike development.
Velotric bike spokes are not stainless steel and will rust. It's not an all weather bike. I was disappointed to cross this bike off my list since I ride at the beach.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace I mean no offense. I have a folder with black oxide steel spokes so I'm sensitive to this topic. They didn't rust overnight, it took a few years. Thank you for your review.
Just ordered one for myself and am very excited for it! 21:30 is one incredible brake test, literally couldn't script something like that.

Did you get your discover 2 yet? I have a question about it that's preventing me from ordering

Superb video.
So if the battery dies, I won’t be stuck. I can paddle home 30 minute ride?
The battery is still running strong but even if it is discharged it will work as a regular bike and it is easy to pedal.

good for Seattle & Vancouver BC , London UK ⛈🌦
20:12 Why are people so stupid to not look both ways before crossing a street? That lady was dumb. 😅
This is happening every day. It's already normal for nyc.

Yes

I was surprised also, amazing value for the money. Best features I tried so far in an ebike.
