Well, they're still releasing another MV for Eternal Sunshine, and they did have a lot of other projects after Kingdom so I think this is more KQ being smart about their finances haha

I actually loved that they cut a lot of the usual Kpop beauty shots and showed a lot more raw performance! Idek who's era this is, they all shone!

If you’d care to read it, I’m gonna drop a (somewhat) basic summary of the ATEEZ concept here. If you're not interested then no worries, just ignore this lol. I’ll try not to go TOO into detail in case you ever feel up to checking it out.
So! ATEEZ… The main objective we see them chasing throughout the storyline is the objective of finding their “treasure”, which seems to be happiness itself. Each of them plays a different character with their own backstory, personality, and character development. These characters are also strongly based on their real personal backstories and upbringings and therefore shed a lot of insight on who the members are as actual people, so I love analyzing their individual roles in the storyline. According to the lore, the eight of them met in the “real world” after enduring hardships in their youth and formed a close friendship that brought them their first real experiences with happiness and the feeling of having a home to belong to. Then, after circumstances where it seemed that they would have to be separated, Hongjoong is visited in a dream by a man in a black fedora who tells him that there are many dimensions in the universe and gives him a mysterious hourglass. Hongjoong wakes up to find the hourglass has carried over into the real world somehow and accidentally activates its power, transporting himself and his 7 friends into an alternate dimension. They’ve got no clue what’s going on but suddenly they have a strange magical item that has now left them stranded in a strange new world. Very very strange!!!!
In this new world, they find an oppressive ruling government who believes that human emotions and freedom of expression have singlehandedly lead society to ruin. This government have abused technology and laws to limit artistic expression (banning art, music, and basically any individuality people might have) and physically take away the capacity for humans to feel joy, ambition, and all of the good things that make life worth living. It’s a very dark parallel to the life they felt they were living before meeting each other in the real world - back when adults and society would beat them down constantly, leaving them to feel empty and without a real purpose for living. The government has employed an army of androids (the men we sometimes see in their videos who have the all-white outfits and the studded silver masks) to keep order, and standing against this android army are an organization called the Black Pirates. These are the fedora men we see appearing all the time, frequently dubbed “halateez” by the fans who don’t know their actual name lol. According to the corrupt government’s perspective, they are a terrorist group. They are the sole organization fighting back against those who dare to silence their individuality (the government of this new world, obviously) and use a magical device called the Cromer (the hourglass) to influence time and both communicate and travel between dimensions as needed while carrying out their fight for freedom. If you rewatch their Rhythm Ta stage from Kingdom after reading this, you’ll probably notice that they threw a lot of this lore into that stage. It might help you to visualize the type of vibe they’ve got going on (now that you’d be watching the stage with context haha). It’s still a bit unclear what exactly the relationship is between real!ATEEZ and the Black Pirates who look to be almost like alternate dimension clones of themselves, but it seems that there have been instances where they’ve teamed up together/helped each other out and also instances where a lot of distrust was formed and perhaps even caused the two groups to fight amongst each other. Their dynamic is interesting but still pretty mysterious overall, so I hope to see more on it in upcoming ATZ content.
Hope this is a bit helpful for you! The most commonly known aspect of their concept is the “pirate theme” but I honestly don’t think a lot of people quite understand what they’re actually going for lol… It’s not so much “we will sail the open sea in search of treasure” but more like “we are freedom fighters who share a common ambition that we intend to reach together no matter what”. Something that actually helps in understanding their canon lore is the knowledge of what their group name was originally supposed to be -- “New World”. Additionally, Hongjoong’s stage name was almost “Pan” in reference to Peter Pan. That said, it’s HEAVILY implied that their concept is based off of Peter Pan and the idea of Neverland, and in that sense you can look at Hongjoong as a mischievous youth who rejects the idea of growing up and lures lost boys into a new world with him so that he doesn’t have to be alone. They also throw in a lot of Alice in Wonderland themes too, hence the song titled Wonderland lol. They eventually went with the name “ATEEZ” which means “the A to Z of teenagers”... because their concept ultimately is about the struggle of being a young person in the modern world and they as a group seek to be a comfort and inspiration to those who feel as lost and alone as they did before they found a home in each other and in their music.
Anyway, that’s probably a good place to stop since this comment is impossibly long already and I hate leaving novels under people’s videos if I can help it. Sorry about that!! Again, hope this helps a little bit with understanding future content
I'm starting to become convinced that the pirate adventures are actually all part of the "Illusion" that they are trapped in for most of the Treasure series, and that there's a time loop involved. I think this album is when it happens, with the cromer getting broken, which then moves the storyline directly into Say My Name. But this particular MV didn't give me as many connecting answers as I expected it to lol.
@@MistyIsles I feel like I have a relatively decent understanding of the Fever series so far but the Treasure series is still difficult for me to piece together with the info that they’ve given us until now so I can definitely relate to the lack of answers lol. The illusion aspect of their concept is really fascinating and I hope they show us more of it soon!! This is the comeback that, according to the diary entries from Fever part 2, they first experience the illusion and I’m like 90% positive we’ll be seeing more of that in Eternal Sunshine’s music video (or at the very least that’s what I’m hoping to see 😭)

I’ve finally been able to piece together a broad understanding of the Treasure series that makes almost all of it make sense to me, but there are still a few aspects - or should I say, a few people - that I haven’t figured out yet.

I’m painfully invested in deciphering their individual characters at this point and I gotta say, my suspicion and curiosity for some of them is killing me. I have quite a few questions I’m trying to find answers to so if the teezers could kindly… throw me a bone or two with Eternal Sunshine… that would be epic of them
@@THIRTYNINEX Yes, same! I’m so invested in this story, and much as I love the puzzle of fitting it all together, I could use a few more obvious hints here and there. Problem is, every time they give us answers, they also open up more questions…
The storyline is so complicated but basically (spoilers ahead) you are right saying it looks like dystopia, as ATEEZ can use that hourglass (called cromer) to either visit dreams or travel dimensions depending on a moon phases, and one dimension they end up in is run by totalitarian government which prohibits all arts, music etc. and halateez (aka ATEEZ in the dark outfits from Hala Hala) are trying to overthrow it - they are called "black pirates" in that dimension. Also the government is looking for them which you can see in this MV (the scifi elements) & just like the white masked person called "giant" in their Fireworks & Answer MVs....so yeah the story is a lot and I didn't do it justice at all but hopefully this gives you some idea whats going on.
And now it seems like Yeosang used the cromer to escape but now it's broken so perhaps he or the others are stuck (havent read the newest notes from Fever part 3 yet so Im sure we know soon more)

I've watched this mv at least 10 times already and I still don't know what the lyrics are. I tried to read them I really did. But Ateez is hard to take your eyes off of hell I had to watch it at least 8 times to focus on a different member.

i think you are wrong saying "lower budget" mv bcs kq literally gave all of their for this cb, they had 5-6 scenes for the mv also different set for teasers, preview also it may look like low budget but they literally put every little details following their storyline which is crazy if you dig in, and also they are releasing another mv whic is also a part of title track, KQ did a pretty good job this cb, i hope you dont judge by the visuals of the mv

If they follow the format for the Treasure series, we should still get two more releases for Fever... Last time for treasure they did three parts for Treasure, then had a full album for a finale, and finally another Ep labeled epilogue... So if they follow the same format the next album will be a full album for Fever Era.
if you look, this mv has a lot of special effects and cgi in it (the night skies, all the robots/drones/androids, the entire beginning), so my guess is, that that is where the money went. KQ probably didn't want to make the mv too crowded with too many things
There is a decent bit of cg, but these days I think the $ is mostly shown in set design. That's typically what I like in my MVs over CG anyway. Like I said though, it doesn't matter much with a group like ATEEZ because their performance is so electric.
