Yes, Violet is the worst part of that, but it's the beauty of Ren that he shines a light in these dark corners of the world that soooo many people have had to deal with and are still dealing with. Please, please, please watch ‘Back on 74/Message in a bottle’ next. You deserve a happy song as a reward for your BRAVERY in tackling the trilogy knowing the trigger warnings. Just make sure to use protection as many female reactors seem to get pregnant watching this one. Once again, I commend you for your bravery

When I was around 9yrs old I had an "I killed Palmer" tshirt. I hadn't seen Twin Peaks other than a few scenes. But watching it as an adult was particularly resonant experience.

Do we dare to ask, look around and see the Violets in our community? Do we keep our eyes and ears open? Do we wear the reminder that she may seem silent, except her eyes and body language never are?

As a 52 years old man that got abused as a kid this is an emotional ride ever time. Probably lost several liters of tears over the year since I found Ren. You are not alone ❤

As a son of an alcoholic abusive father I don't pretend to have the same experiences as you, but possibly I can relate a little bit. All I can say is the same as Ren did in Hi Ren. I got older and learned to soften. I decided a long time ago that it wouldn't define my life, changed my surname, moved, and made sure that, when the time came, I was a better dad than he ever was.
Hopefully you will reach the same resolution with your pain, if you haven't already. The one thing that this shit tends to give you is empathy for fellow humans, and that is a gift. Know that there is a whole community of fellow empaths here for you should you ever need it.

Just to add clarity to the story arch.
Jenny and Screech were Violets twins, after Violets death they were separated at birth and put into the system. (Violets Boyfriend was surely sent to prison for murder.)
Growing up apart, they did not know each other.
Jenny became a prostitute ("Well, she knew this town, she knew this floor
Because she'd walked it about a thousand times before
She wanted to escape, can you blame?" & "She tried to find strength to move
But stayed as still as a statue in high heeled shoes").
Not that wearing high heals and shoes and walking the same streets makes on. a prostitute.
but given that she is only 14 and doing that in a Ren Sega you can bet that he's implying the most dramatic plot twist.
While Screech became a street hustler and petty criminal.
Jenny taking on her mothers coping mechanism of freezing still during traumatic experiences.
And Screech like his father was prone to physical violence.
PS you need some happy Ren now... Try Losing It or Back on 74 Message in a Bottle Retake. Before you go into any more dark Ren. He's therapeutic with it but it's always so well constructed it's emotional.
Someone else commented Ren said she wasn't one but it would make sense in the story, either way.
@@MarissaxMunster Ren wrote Jenny's Tale after reading about a 14 year old boy killing a prostitute. The Chief of Police was quoted as saying "It's such a shame". Ren wrote Screech's Tale soon after but then waited a few years to revisit and conclude the story with Violet's Tale. Ren has talked about a 4th tale covering the policeman, who shot Screech, story but has recently stated he has a new trilogy tale ready to go....whatever that may be.

Ren can be a jagged little pill, but he’s always trying to educate. He read about a young woman being stabbed to death in the news by a boy and created a Shakespearen tragedy out of it. Yes, in part to entertain, but also to call attention to generational violence and the knife violence epidemic in England. Thank you for bringing us these powerfully moving reactions, please take care of yourself. 💜😊💜
I think you have a better understanding now of not only how great Ren's art is, but also the kind of people that are drawn to it. Def do an upbeat song next time. You deserve it!

My god, I know these songs are tragic but they're so beautiful as well. The moment in Violet's Tale when he sings up into the stairwell is my favorite. She neeeeeever stood a chaaaaance

Based on a 2005 news article about a prostitute killed by a young teen. A comment was made in the article "It's such a shame." Variations of this appear in the lyrics of many of Ren's songs. Ren has not been satisfied with leaving the social commentary to such a tragedy punctuated with these 4 simple words.

There are very few reactors who are not affected by watching these pieces. More than one has come to tears (myself included).
I was scared for you when I saw the notification for this... well done for getting through it... this is something else that is special about Ren.. he is taking subjects that are rarely spoken about and bringing them out in the open. He is getting people talking for the right reasons... this abuse needs to be stopped.. and by getting people to pay attention is part of the process. We are here for you
Ren wrote this after her heard a true story of a young man who had killed another young sex worker. The police said it was "such a shame". Ren shared he knew of friends and had family who had experienced DV so wanted to highlight generational violence in all forms. Big hugs ❤ we all cried ! I agree with others that back on 74 is a good enjoyable and lighter song for you..

The majority of us reacted much the way you did. Men, women, young, old. A lyrical representation of generational violence. Jenny and James are very common names in the UK for orphaned/unnamed children. Many of us are survivors... you will find comfort in the Ren Community.
The tales have been a long work in progress REN first making Jenny approx in 2014-2015. (Info based on first recording I found in love music.) Correct me if I’m wrong but the rest came later but I guess Ren knew where it was going. To put light on intergenerational trauma is the first step to end the cycle.

This trilogy tackles some very difficult topics for a lot of people, well done for sticking it out, this is what truly great art does, it moves us emotionally, the nearest way I can describe this story is, it's like a modern day sheakspearean tragedy, stay strong young lady, you are way more than the things that happen to you. I'm sure you will have suggestions for some of Ren's not so heavy material, you've earned it. ❤

Ren is indeed a genius, a fantastic performer, singer, actor, songwriter, composer, etc, etc he can do it all...
These 3 videos are filled with so many small tidbits that you might have missed by seeing this for the first time:
- the way he uses his words and sets the scene for example when he could've simply say that Screech stabbed Jenny, he does it in a much more poetic way (and continues to do it in other instances in the songs, like when the Police is coming for Screech "the shrill cry of justice like a Banshee in the night"), just the same when Jenny froze he says it in a fantastic manner that sets a scene in your head...
The way he used the Guitar to knock on the door in Screech's tale, the frantic camera going around him while he stood still to show the state of mind Screech was in, how he used the phone in the middle of the song with pauses and all to wait for the call to connect... how he said the police was coming instead of just saying "the police are coming" is truly amazing, and how he said that Screech was going against the police without saying just the obvious words... how he alternates between characters and narrator, both in voice and acting (see how at the end of the call to the girlfriend he's panting, gasping for air as Screech and in the next second he's completely composed when he becomes the Narrator again, he even gets his posture to be more upright)... how he uses the guitar to fire the shots and the cameraman getting shot and falling to the floor... an amazing storyteller.
- The way he tells that history repeats itself on Violet's tale, from being abused by her father to the cycle repeating with her boyfriend that ends up killing her... the way he knocks on the door and then shows how he picks her eyelids and opens them and he's right there face first on the camera, out of focus... how he again uses the guitar to simbolize the sounds of violence when Stevie hits Violet, like a crashing pilot!
- The way he rewinds time at the start of Violet's Tale when he says "We must rewind time for Violet's Tale" and then he makes the rewind time sound with the guitar and then starts Violet's story... then after Violet gets beaten up he uses the guitar again, this time to un-rewind time and gets us back to the start of the song when you heard the sounds of the hospital machines, now we know why those sounds were there and how everything happened... it's pure genius!!!
- Also, it's inevitable to draw parallels between Jenny and Violet and Screech and Stevie (his father) and the grandfather... despite not knowing any of their relatives, Jenny was just like her mother, Violet was silent, didn't fight back when she was abused and ended up being killed... Jenny when confronted by Screech completely froze, like a statue, wasn't able to move, to say anything, to defend herself, just like her mother...
Screech was violent and troubled and ended up a murderer just like his father...
All very tragic!!
- To tie it all up, the Tales from Jenny and Screech were recorded in 2019 and Violet's Tale is, because of that set in 2005 (two zero zero five), 14 years before because in Jenny's tale we are told that Screech was 14 years old!

I think you are awesome for sharing a bit of your story and being a survivor! Showing your vulnerability is the opposite of weakness! I think you rock! The Ren Rabbit hole is a healing journey, that you won't regret. You should totally react to some of Ren's fun songs. Losing it is a fun wild ride, back on 74 is as well. This is a tough one. I'm sorry it affected ya a certain way. We're all here for ya. A broken home is hard, I Know from experience, but you and I have both stepped out of it. We drag the skeletons along but we are above ground. Keep your face to the sun.
A little tip, you can move forward and backward on the video timeline with the left and right keyboard arrow keys 5 seconds at a time, so you don't have to keep trying to get your mouse cursor to line up just right to move it manually. And the space bar will pause and play the video.
Those sirens in the background when he does the final "Say something, Violet?" you know are natural in the moment. And so Appropriate.
One reaction I saw was from a psychotherapist, his reaction at the twist at the end was to shout no, stand up and storm off and then the video fades out. So, please do not worry about not knowing how to react. ~💗

It's on the lighter side with some humor, a bit film noir and I believe it's either one of his first or his first video with Samuel.
I know we are not in the same situations, but I feel you on having to start over with a new therapist. not that mine had passed away but they did move on to another job and I was with them for 3 years, So it most definitely felt like a breakup or a passing in some sense since she passed on to another job. I did actually wind up starting with a new therapist out of being obligated to for other aspects of my life. but it is rough to have to explain everything all over again and having to catch them up to speed as you mentioned. but I do hope you follow through at some point because as you mentioned it is important or even just have someone in your life that you can vent to openly! Keep up the good work I know it's only my second video interacting with you so I don't know you but you got this and stay strong!

every reaction I have seen of this song, everyone has reacted in a somewhat similar way regardless of their specific trauma.
i think this is because it is a human story, something that happens every day across the world and therefore everyone is able to relate to to it in some fashion.
