JS KASHIMA arrives in London on 5th September 2024. JS KASHIMA is a training ship of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) and is the flagship of the JMSDF fleet. It was arriving from Hamburg, Germany.
@@jackdaw6873 Thanks. Yes - I think they both visited Hamburg and I was hoping that they would both visit London as well! I have a subscriber in Japan that sent me some information about their itinerary.
JS KASHIMA is flagship of the Training Squadron of the JMSDF Fleet rather than that of the entire fleet as erroneously described by Wikipedia. Just FYI.
Thanks. It is due to depart on Monday. No red / green flags at the stern but it does seem to have two red markers sticking out on either side near at the back.
I think this may be a requirement of the Port of London Authority as all the vessels this far up the river seem to still have on. I can understand if the ship was sailing down the river and out to sea as the radars would need to be turned on and warmed up but this ship is coming inbound.

Why are the ships radars still turned on?

Where did it dock?
Alongside HMS Belfast
@@ThamesShips That's where I thought it would be... Thanks.
