TILBURY GRAVESEND FERRY | Final Sailings
it's very beautiful
Thanks - yes I agree!
That's so ugly, what were they thinking?!
The owner previously had another superyacht called SKAT and if you have a look at that, the design s very similar!
It's so impressive!!! I think I understand why the world is obsessed with big ships and big guns.
Thanks - yes I agree!
WoW! That’s Awesome! Have an incredible week!
Thanks for watching the video. 👍Hope you have a great week as well. 😃
It's a good looking ship
Yes - I agree!
Excellent Video!
Thanks. There were a couple of Cory tugs passing towing household waste down to the Belvedere incinerator and I thought about the start of your previous video!
@@ThamesShips No worries! That was a great spot ☺
Lots of feel good commentary here. The reality is both the first Harry DeWolfe & Max Bernay have experienced compartment flooding. I am thinking myself the welds literally failed. Plus the NATO ministers would frown ipon its poor deck armaments as substantially weak for even one prolonged aerial attack. This is the perfect example of millenial Canadian ideal, "its good enuf....and keeps Irving in the black." Dismal standard. In a real world conflict emergency, two of these arctic patrol vessels should be able to temporarily replace 1 of our frigates to protect a port city from aerial straffing-bombing. So the frigate can go to war in a carrier group. Today, this is an impossibility. Thats why sailors were uniforms. National defense.
Interesting to see - surprised to see them using a small tug rather than their own boat, but skipper's choice, I suppose!
I wonder if the use of the tug is a PLA requirement as all the superyachts I have filmed at Georges Stairs have had one. Although I didn't film it, once the mooring process is completed, the tug usually disappears for 30 minutes or so and then brings a floating pontoon which is put up against the yacht to allow easier access.
@@ThamesShips Sounds about right - and the pontoon would be useful, anyway. I filmed something similar for my old channel Shipping TV a few years back aboard PLA Southwark: ua-cam.com/video/6WJL54MulJE/v-deo.html
Fantastic watch. Great to watch the mooring. Very detailed. Thank you.
Thanks. 👍
So it is a brandnew yacht. How beautiful. I suppose it can sail all around the world if it wants to. Lovely video.
Yes - it was delivered to its owners earlier this year after having sea trials in the North Sea. I think it has a range of over 4,000 nautical miles.
@@ThamesShips Incredible!
Lovely Yacht!!
Thanks!
Cleverly chose 'slack tide' I think as the river has ferocious currents at times and can get very choppy.
Yes - thanks for watching. 👍
very good 👍 have a good weekend 👍
Thanks - you too 😃
Superyacht IRIS BLUE mooring in London on 23rd July 2024. Superyacht IRIS BLUE was built by Heesen Yachts at Oss in the Netherlands. It was the first superyacht delivered by Heesen in 2024. It was mooring at Georges Stairs which is just downriver from Tower Bridge.
Great video where was it filmed from?
Thanks. It was filmed from the riverside walkway at Tilbury.
Excellent
Thanks for your kind comment. 👍
A powerful scene of a graceful ship leaving port.
Thanks for watching the video. 👍
I've been on her sister. They are ultra modern inside ... big ships that require smaller crew because of the high level of computerization on board. There aren't enough hands to do a proper "cleaning stations" though. Somebody still has the swab the decks and this ship is quite large.
Yes - that is true. A computer won't clean the deck!
Great video!
Thanks 👍
Fantastic camera work. I am building this beauty in 110 scale, this helps me so much!! Thank you.
Thanks for your kind comment. Good luck with building the model. 👍
very good 👍 thumb up as always 👌 👍
Thanks as always. 😃
Very good video. Great to see Ambience again, I like her very unique looking design. It looks like Ambassador Cruises are keeping her well maintained.
Thanks. Yes - she certainly has a distinctive look.
What a beauty!
Thanks for watching! 👍
Another good video. Really enjoyed it, thanks
Thanks. 👍Sorry - not much tug action in this video!
Lovely video. Beautiful ship. They are building a lot on the shore there as well like they do here. Quite a pity.
Thanks. Yes - the town on the other side of the river is called Gravesend. Up until the end of March, there was a ferry that took you from this side of the river (at Tilbury) to the other side of the river (at Gravesend) which took about 5 minutes. As this ferry doesn't run anymore, if you are driving from Tilbury to Gravesend, it now takes about 30 minutes and you have to cross the river using the Queen Elizabeth II bridge at Dartford. If you are travelling by train, you have to travel via London and it takes about 90 minutes to get to Gravesend from Tilbury!
@@ThamesShips I remember you having made a video on the last trip of the ferry this last winter. So sad.
Ambassador Cruise ship AMBIENCE departs Tilbury on 30th June 2024. AMBIENCE was departing on a 14 day cruise around the British Isles and Ireland. The next port of call was Kirkwall.
This is amazing! Haven't seen this before. Thank you for sharing
Thanks. 👍The main purpose of the fire nozzles on the tug boats is to fight fires but they are occasionally used for water salutes on special occasions. You sometimes see it at airports as well for special flights (such as a new route or a new type of aircraft) though in such cases the airport's fire engines are used to spray the water.
@@ThamesShips Thanks for explaining, I will defo be keeping a lookout for them🙂
Thanks for the water salute shot of Juan Sebastian Se Elcano on the Thames. I do hope the ships brass is still shining afterwards. Been there and done that.
Thanks. 👍It is only the third one that I have seen live (the other two being when Ambition made it's first visit to Tilbury and when the Virgin cruise ship Valiant Lady came to Tilbury). I know that there have been others but these are the only ones that I have actually seen.
@@ThamesShips I attended a Dunkirk Little Ships return to Chatham Docks so we were all dressed over and brass all shiny. The Massey Shore Thames Fire Boat decided to do a sail past with the monitor blasting out lovely dock water. The crew of Bluebird of Chelsea presented the Massey crew with there now ruined ships bell for them to polish again. Plus a bottle of gin to sip while doing it. I helped the big Bluebird get away from the dock early, she was hemmed in between boats rafted ahead and astern. So old Lazy Days did a bit of tug work. After Dunkirk Lazy Days was kept in the navy doing Thames Estuary parachute mine patrols. She was under Chatham control buy was moored at Queensborough for the duration.
@@TheByard Thanks for sharing your memories.
This would be the yacht if Bayliner built yachts🤢
That really looks good. I did not know this was called a water salute! Great.
Thanks. It is only the third time I have seen it happen.
brilliant sharing as always thumb up 👍
Thanks mate.
That was a great video. Tug doing a brilliant job 😀
Thanks. The only other water salutes I have seen there was when the Ambassador cruise ship Ambition came for the first time and also when the Virgin cruise ship Valiant Lady came for the first (and only!) time. I am sure that there have been other ones as well but these are the only ones that I have seen.
Spectacular! 👏
Thanks. The cruise ship Ambience was due to leave about 15/20 minutes later so I thought I would film two videos. Hopefully the Ambience departure will be the next video uploaded.
Great vid.Wondered if you might be around to film and she got a water salute which is always good to see 👍😀
Thanks. There wasn't many people around as it was about the time that England were playing in the football. I thought that if I filmed it at Tilbury, I could also film Ambience departing as it was due to depart about 15 / 20 minutes later. I believe there was also a Colombian Navy training ship sail up today.
Very nice great video cheers TS 👍👍
Thanks as always. 😃I believe there was also a Colombian Navy training ship sail up to London today.
Thankyou for that i do log and photo all Navy Warships this is one of my hobbies along with Aircraft, Thanks again.
If I hadn't been filming this sailing ship at Tilbury on Sunday, I would probably have been at Southend Airport seeing the Red Arrows. They were operating out of Southend for the afternoon to fly to an airshow.
Thanks For The Great Clip ! ( Have a Nice Day )😊
Thanks. 👍I believe there was also a Colombian Navy training ship sail up to London today but I am hoping to see it on Saturday.

Great video! I love this ship; she paid us a visit to Greenock last year.
Yes - I remember watching your video. It may be up again soon as the next event is at Dumfries and Galloway on 13th / 14th July so could possibly visit.
@@ThamesShips It would be great to see her again!
Excellent video - like the changes of lighting as she moves along.
Thanks. I would have preferred to film from the other side of the river so that the sun would have been behind the camera but the view from that side was unfortunately blocked.
@@ThamesShips You did a good job anyway!
@@ShipsandShipping Thanks 👍👍
I want to see more investment into our military. The world is getting out of control quick.
I remember her being built in Hall Russel yard in Aberdeen . She was the last new build by Hall Russel.
Thanks for the information. 👍
Good sharing 👌 hope you're well
Yes - thanks! All good. 👍👍
Great to watch. Good tug work😀
Thanks. The same two tugs are booked to assist when it departs on Friday evening.
Will watch out for that, thanks
Great video. Love the early morning light.
Thanks. I would have preferred to film from the other side of the river so that the sun would have been behind the camera but unfortunately the view was blocked by some other boats moored over there.
That is really interesting to see. Beautiful light. Morning?
Yes - it was filmed at about 6:10 in the morning and the sun was low in the sky. I would have preferred to film from the other side of the river so that the sun would have been behind the camera but unfortunately there were some other boats blocking the view from that side.
