If you guys think this is bad... This is actually a good performance. I can only imagine what they are like at their best.
Ah, how sweet is that roadie at #3:10 bringing him a new cup of tea? What a champion...
Well this is just amazing
what a sick performance, full of energy and soul, as always from The Mars Volta!...sick.
great song,
i think cedric kills it in this performance personally
I agree with you, really good day for Cedric
+Randy Viger I thought it was a bad performance by cedric, actually =(
this is a pretty bad performance for him, but appropriate for the era. his voice was slowly but surely leaving him starting around 2008
I love Cedrics dance moves. I wish I could dance like that
Thanks for capturing this. Hot damn. Juan is such a legend.
I freakin love these guys
awsome vocals great band...
jammin out!! love this band
Great video man! Thanks for this.
My favourite 8 member band! Hang on a minute...
I feel like the mars volta needs to be recognized!!! Anyone else? So unique during the time but idk that they really caught on except a couple songs
For me personally the end of rock and roll was around this time... bands like the darkness, airbourne, jet (even Tesla and some other great stuff from around the early 2000s but, as rainbow said it "Long Live Rock n Roll"
Foo fighters and dave grohl keeping old school rock alive!!!
This band has a lot of respect. Unfortunately egos and drug abuse did a huge disservice to it but still they made great records and now they are back having reinvented themselves with a new sound with more afro caribbean influences mixed with their electronic vibes.
@@kenknapp2319 Foo Fighters are fucking awful lmao
Maestros! :)
Awesome
fans of the mars volta are so fucking critical. if you are gonna talk shit about them, just dont listen to them. I love the mars volta, and I think this is a pretty alright performance, you can't expect them to be at their best all the time, I mean they are getting old for fucks sake. I love everything this band does, one of my favorites for sure and I know their next record is gonna be epic as fuck, as always.
Hey wow Tht Mars Volta yeah!! molto loco
:-)

@JEC703 You said it! I agree with you 100%
un estadoumidence haciendo su tarea de español , uniendo palabras la musica
@JEC703
Totally agree.
6:41
hell ya
I'm surprised they performed this song on this tour.
@JEC703 dude your hella right not all bands can be at their best all the time
@JEC703 I agree people shouldn't be so critical, as far as them getting old, haha they aren't even that old. The members of Rush are approaching 60 and are still giving excellent performances, these guys have a long way to go before they start getting "old." Peace friend.
@MarleyBobi The Mars Volta could play a stones song in their sleep... the deepest of sleeps... comatose in fact...
You know what, I watched this video, commented "awesome", then read the comments posted before to discover apparently he reads some lyrics off some paper. Didn't even notice!
OK; Cedric has said in interviews that TMV's lyrics are secondary to the music. AND I'd rather see a singer reading the lyrics from a piece of paper than forget them completely (he only looked at said paper once or twice and their words are hard to remember anyway) and Id rather hear a singer hit some wrong notes than them lip sync. Sometimes you may not feel like going crazy so maybe the band just felt more like standing chilled and putting their energy into the music rather than showmanship.
@JEC703 well said
@Motilliatta I don't see why, he's freaking awesome. He has the chops.
To be fair, it is a tad unprofessional to look at lyrics during a set. HOWEVER, consider how much music this guy has pumped out? Not only in TMV but in ATDI and his band before. We're not talking about Justin Biebers wit 1 hit wonders, we're talking about guys who have hundreds and hundreds of different songs. Shit, he's bound to forget a few words at some point. Especially when most TMV songs are 20 minutes long haha. I grew up listening to this dudes voice, I fucking love it
@joecool1010 for the same reasons theodore left, he said, quote "Ive done enough now not to have to be someones employee I feel more free, honestly its a good feeling."
esta banda es epica, por no tener 1 sola cosa que tocar, solo por eso.
puede que no nos agrade siempre lo que tcan, pero ya hizieron lo que tenian que hacer
ala verga me volo la cabeza, this shit id mind blowing
rolling stones got old too and they still rock!
why would anyone expect them to play the exact same version like the studio...there was like 4 other invited musicians there was a lot of editin,it probably took them a week to record this song and anyone trying to sing this song for 5 minutes at the same pitch would shit their pants....its like asking pink floyd to play echoes the exact same way everytime...really good performance
where is cedrics monitor?!
@redsparklywings that's Dave Elitch. he just replaced Thomas Pridgen. why Pridgen left, I'm not exactly sure.
It's like everyone (except singer) were given certain areas and they have to play there.
Elviaaaaa, hiijaaaa de mirandaa , jfksjcjskfjdkkwkd
"Yo te lo juro, lo van a pagar"
@uncrules To bands like TMV and others who choose to make songs the way they want, and do what pleases them, the fans are an added bonus. People who follow a band like this have an interest in their style of music and usually won't put expectations on the band because the band is already making the kind of music they enjoy. I'm sure TMV like their fans and would like them at their shows, but at the same time, if they were playing in front of 20 or 20,000 I don't think it would matter to them.
Padrisimo,chingòn etc ..etc..
I just piss about my pants n_n
whos drumming fr them??
If I was tripping I might understand what was going on
I love the Volta, and I respect their way of thinking: Putting expectations deep into a locked chest so as not to undermine their creativity.
But still man, sometimes you just get fuckin' sick of finally hearing your favorite song and it ends up just sounding like a pile of pots that's others constantly thrown at it.
But that is also where the contradiction springs into view, why make music for people when you're just gonna say "fuck you we don't care what you want."?
QUE????? VVV
whos drumming? look different
I love them, don't get me wrong, but I would love them so much more if Cedric could sing in-tune live, like he can in the studio (particularly on the high notes). Help me understand.
It's a bitch to sing that high in general, even if you've got a high voice.
se be que no eres musico, ese batero es ralmente exelente
I'd lose passion too if I were singing the same shit night after night for years. We can't all be like Freddy. Also, this is L'via L'viaquez, not Eriatarka....And I dont even know why you said passionless. He looks like he's having some fun.
What happened to the oomph in his voice?
quien es cedric?
Wow, they look like a Mars Volta cover band here.
groovestix fack off
Cedric is the only one with any form of stage pressence... It's like he's playing with a backing band, the rest of the band are standing at the back of the stage.
They're playing really tight though
@andthemushrooms123 Bottom line is people, stop being so nitpicky. Build a bridge and get over it, at least at the end of the day it IS 100% AMAZING ORIGINAL UNIQUE LIVE MUSIC which is a rare thing to come across these days.
I've never understood why bands have shakers & instruments of the like, live.
John Cassar
It's called percussion you dumb shit
yea i know, but you can never hear them.
+John Cassar yes you cant, your brain just take those sounds for granted, but you can hear them indeed
+santiagocabrera im sorry i mean you can*
dave elitch is a fantastic drummer, but he nowhere near matches jon theodores feel on this
Todos corticas al vocal o al bataco, ahí el que la cago y le falto esencia y poder fue al guitarro!
che video flojo hahaha les falto intensidad :D
great video, but Dave elitch pisses me off.
@chcskater610 i guess you're right... They just look, LOOK, like an amateur band. Cedric has the lyrics written on a piece of paper for christ sake! it's just embarrasing to watch. Perfomance wise, Octahedron has defintely been the worst era
man, this band's lost a lot of their energy. their stage presence when I saw them in the frances-amputechture stage was way more intriguing.
still good music though
