    I can tell you this I tried Monday Qualifing in 2004 for the Nationwide tour. My average ball speed then with a driver was 165.6 and a carry of 298. I do have a print out from that time on a launch monitor. The spin was ridiculous at 3100. I would have been in the top 10 on tour. I feasted on par 5's and short par 4's. My short game at its best was below average. This is why I didn't make it. If my long game was on I could go low. If it was off, my scores ballooned. My suggestion is don't quit or give up. I did. I walked away in 2007 and didn't come back until 2020. I regret that and there's nothing I can do to change it. I'm only a few years away from being eligible for the Champions Tour. I have an interest in trying once again. Don't quit. Keep grinding away.

      @iamchoiboi that's what I thought 20 years ago. I appreciate the kind words of encouragement. This time around, things are different. I know how to create certain shot shapes on command. I also know my tendencies of my misses. The biggest change though is my short game. I spend well over 75% of my practice time on 125 yards and in. Primarily 30 yards and less. I honestly believe anyone can have a tour pro short game. It just takes proper technique and practice. It requires no special talents or skills.

    I have played with guys on the mini tour back in the day. They were on a completely different level. One guy out drove me right down the middle(a lefty swinging a righty driver on its toe). They could manufacture shots from anywhere on the course. It wasn't just the distance. They missed in the right spots and hit the rescue shots that they needed.

    • @guyr7351
      @guyr7351 5 місяців тому +2

      They always say it’s how good their bad shots are that show the difference.
      The tiny percentage of PGA tour players V worldwide players shows how they are the very top Of the pile

    • @industrialpalletworx3548
      @industrialpalletworx3548 5 місяців тому

      The manufacturing of shots comes from knowing what positions produce a shot shape. In my view, that's the big difference between a good amateur and pros. Amateurs in general hit and hope. Even good ones because they just don't know what produces a particular shape. Once you know what has to happen, you can call on that any time you want it. This is why the thought is the hardest shot to hit is a straight shot. You must be neutral in path and face angle. Generally speaking, pros use path to curve the ball. Keeping a neutral face angle and adjusting path either slightly in to out for a draw and slightly out to in for a fade. Obviously, it's easier said than done, but that's really all you're trying to do. As far as the proper miss. It really is all about not short siding yourself. Short sided even for the best in the world means 90% of the time you won't get up and down. Miss on the big side away from the pin, means 90% of the time they will get up and down. Obviously, that is just a general characterization. There are loads of other factors that come into play. That's a plain vanilla simplified version of strategy for playing shots.

    • @heydeereman1040
      @heydeereman1040 5 місяців тому +1

      @industrialpalletworx3548 they also understand how their club is going to interact with the species of grass and length they are hitting from and what pressure and adrenaline are going to do with their swing. It's a million little things that separate those few hundred players from the millions.

    • @industrialpalletworx3548
      @industrialpalletworx3548 5 місяців тому +1

      @@heydeereman1040 absolutely 100% agree. I was trying to just simplify it. There are so many variables that go into hitting a shot. Trying to talk about them would take a very a long time. Simplifying the strategy helps people who don't know understand it a bit better. That's all.

But if you are already exempt into first stage, second stage, or final stage then you pay accordingly to each stage that you start at. So for example if you got exempt into second stage you will only pay 4,000 and if you make it through to final stage you don't have to pay extra. I have watched a lot of people try to chase this dream! Obviously there has to be some level of talent there and some skills but typically it always comes down to money. You have to have super Deep Pockets to be able to practice and play all the time as well as equipment and travel and everything else involved. Typically the guys that make it have some sort of sponsor or someone that bank rolls them so that they can just focus on the game. Some dude work in part-time trying to travel and do all this other stuff is 100% not going to make it typically.

    Dude…Fitzpatrick, Roy Sabatini, Zach Johnson…these guys ain’t big dudes. Like all of those statistics are great, and EVERY SHOT DOES COUNT! But, the number one thing those guys got(well, for the most part) is stable confidence. Not that surface level feel good play good bs. I’m talking about Raymond Prior get deep down in your heart, soul, and mind confidence. Find that radical acceptance in your game, and life, and then you’ll BE able to play the golf of your dreams. And you won’t even be concerned about a number, or I should say the value of a score. I’ve shot 67, trust me it’s no different than 69 or 74 at the end of the day. It’s fun to say, but the best part of the game are the times when I can look at myself and say, “this is what I want, and even if it doesn’t turn out that way or I don’t like it, I accept it and I’ll keep hitting it and chasing it.” Stay present my friend!

    it is beyond really hard. You are talking about becoming a professional athlete. Imagine someone passed their Prime telling you they're going to make it to the NBA or the nfl. Or if they're going to become a rockstar or a successful actor I'm not saying it's impossible I'm just saying it's a very small percentage. And even in that small percentage you will have to put in a tremendous amount of work and effort and time and money and have resources and have connections it's insanely improbable.
    I'm not doubting you personally I don't even know you. I'm just saying what you're setting as a goal is very lofty.
    The patterns I have noticed for the people that do make it on tour are they typically have support, skills, tools and accountability. So usually support comes in the form of family friends coaches mentors maby a psychologist etc. Tools come in the form of they have all the latest equipment and Tech and anything you can need to improve your game, then when it comes to skills they have built a huge repertoire of skills over years and years of practice and ingraining motions literally since they were children. And then they always have someone to hold them accountable put themselves or it's their family or the coaches or whatever it is. So when you think about that that is your competition! If you think you can go out there and beat those guys and hang with those guys that you're 15 to 20 years behind then go ahead.
    You are talking about playing the best players in the world! Maybe you should start with some high school level players on tough courses and then graduate to maybe college and then the high-level college players etc.

  • @paulthrossell7999

    championship courses are really not big and scary. If you can shoot 2 or 3 under on an easy course on a good day, then for sure you can shoot even or -1 on a championship course on a good day too. Actually sometimes greens on championship courses are easier to putt because they are usually pretty smooth and pure. I have back issues so cant swing as hard and hit as far as I would with a perfect back, I dont have a handicap now and hardly play, I used to play around scratch many years ago, so I can still play even with carrying a drive only about 270 yards now. I played Pebble Beach for the first time last year and shot even 72. I played TPC Sawgrass too, played quite poorly on many holes and had a lot of bad luck with putts and was +4, 76. Dont think that championship courses are scary, its the same concept, hit ball at hole, they are slightly longer usually than an average course, but thats it.

    As a person who persued that same dream, you are worried about the wrong numbers. Golf has enough mental baggage to overcome in order to compete at that level without adding your numbers AND even worse mental thoughts to overcome. The only single jumber that matters in golf is the final number written on the card in scorers tent.
    Now, lets play a game(same game i played back when). Take a look at what would happen if a golfer shot even par in every tournament all year. a 72 on every course. thinknabout it. this guys makes money, yes he misses some cuts but he does make money AND contends in majors!
    Next, lets look at the Pga level course conditions. theres a reason they hit 5irons off the tees 250+. The courses are played in dry conditions giving up roll. Theres ya tee distance gains there. So that 270 will be more like 300-310 due to roll.
    The only caviat to this is that if you are truly shorter youll hit longer clubs into par 4s. Even still with golf tech now players hit 7irons 200yrds!
    To me in the end the only real hurdle is consistency and upfront money🤷🏽‍♂️ Get your mental game in check. This should be first on list even before putting & short game.
