just wanted to say a massive thank you to David Howell, I was only 15 at the time but popped down to watch the Welsh open and he was kind enough to buy me and my friend a burger each. Great to see him still going, thanks David 👍 good luck with your golf

Why not televise this? Surely the final Q School tournament should be televised like a normal DP World Tour event? It would do wonders not only for the tour, but garner great affinity and intrigue regarding the players that are not the obvious superstars we come to see week in and week out.
    Anyways, thanks for the content!

Totally agree. The drama is so much more intense, the emotion so raw. This would make, with more on-course footage, a great 'documovie'.

Its great television. I think its a bit niche and something the more avid golf fan would be a fan of..but content like this is A+ content for said avid golf fan.

Thank you for this documentary DPWT, this to me is so much more interesting than the Netflix series. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the top dogs are where they are, they all earned it; but they're at a point where they can stop worrying. As the recent Jon Rahm news have shown, sadly, it's no longer about the trophies and the history behind them. So it's nice to see the "wolfpack" in a way, the guys who really want it and really struggle to get (back, in somes cases) anywhere near the level of those under the spotlight. The grind is very relatable. Hats off to them, particularly Tom Lewis - I hope he can find solace and inspiration in what fellow teenage sensation Matteo Manassero just did, getting back on the main tour.

I went to the LET Q school a week ago, its heartbreaking to see the players who just miss out while at the same time seeing people getting their cards for the first time and making their dreams come true is inspiring. I would encourage all golf fans to go and watch a Q school tournament.

Fantastic insight into how tough this is. Suprised with some of the big names there, you just assume they've got cards for life when they've won a few times.

30:21 this part is probably my favorite part of the video. Tom going out there and making that many birdies is really impressive and that speech the gentleman was making really motivates me for my game. And as someone who wants to be a pga pro (teaching pro not playing pro) makes me want to go out there with that mindset every single round

I loved that quote from Rory that pressure was not trying to win on tour but playing for your job. I can relate (although on a much lower level), as I had an opportunity to become an assistant professional at the club I was working at part-time if I passed the PAT (playing ability test). I did pass on my first try but it was very difficult mentally. They give you a target score beforehand (you play 36 holes), so you're not playing against other players but the target score...and your mind.
I played decent in the first round and after a very good front 9 in the 2nd round (I holed out for an eagle 2 on the first hole which helped) I was a virtual lock to pass (I only needed 8 bogeys and a par on the back 9 to pass). Or was I? I bogeyed the first 5 holes on the back 9 and the mind games were in high gear. I managed to par the next 2 holes, got up and down for bogey on 17 avoiding a major disaster, and parred the last hole to pass by 2 shots.
    That was pressure!

I can only imagine as a weekend player how hard it must be to lose out on a cut or a tour card. I’ve put hours and hours into this game and been on a rollercoaster but to see the levels pros go to, to only be let down, unreal.
This is the only game I know whereby hard work and dedication, isn’t the only thing that’s required.

Main take away from this is it's all in the head, which you hear a lot but this confirms that. If I am nervous over a tee it's a bad shot and vice versa. Such a hard game but LOVE IT!

Q School is extremely tough for a game that is so difficult. The reality is that any pro sport is extremely tough to make and stay on. When you get to a certain high level of play, everyone is very good and it only takes a small bit of luck or fortune to get past someone else. Cheers.

Please, make more of these documentaries! This is , as one of the guys said in the beginning, something we "normal people" never hears about but maybe should..? The fight, the struggle, the mindset... The hard hard work, eand then having to peak in just one week of the year.. So interesting and "fun" to watch and know about. Just one thing; change the narrator, hes voice is to weak and takes away focus when you have to focus to hear him.

This is why the PGATOUR is so much better than LIV...Passion and desire.....ultimate level of commitment. LIV does not have this, and will never have this....They play for fun, these guys play for passion. I would rather watch guys playing for something that matters than watching guys golf for a paycheck.

Still mind boggling how dp and pga dont play a few tournaments in Australia. Its really ridiculous and its no wonder liv has taken off at Adelaide. Definitely something that needs to be sorted out since aus gives so many great players to the game and has such a big following.

I don’t want to say the DP World Tour is wrong but Q-School is not the toughest test in golf. The toughest test in golf is winning a major championship. That’s why Jack Nicklaus has 18 of them and Tiger Woods has 15.😊

  • @tonysmario817
    @tonysmario817 7 місяців тому +1

anyone know why the q school is the 'toughest test in golf'? because the pga created that barrier to maintain the limited hangout nature of professional golf today. they don't want a world of golfers, they want a handful of golfers...that's why there's no more 'monday qualifiers' like there used to be...that's why tour players continue to play with exemptions though they miss every cut...they are not supposed to have to 'work' for their right to play the best players that week, who might suddenly step out of some pro shop, or off some local course to shoot lights out..no no no...that's too messy for the greedy professional golf associations to deal with...they prefer a handful of highly predictable dancing monkeys..and that is exactly how they have structured the modern game of golf.
and that's why you will never see a ben hogan or gary player or lee trevino again...if the pga can help it.
best thing we could all do is boycott professional golf until someone starts a REAL golf tour, that is available to ALL golfers all the time...as it used to be. then we would see how obscene and offensive it is that any golfer would be paid hundreds of millions of dollars just to draw attention to your shitty golf tour. how about create a BETTER golf tour, and the best golfers will naturally want to play there.
