This song is such a treasure. First, by Buddy Holly, and then JT added so much depth and soul to his version. I love both versions and that is so rare to like the remake as much as the original.

As always, when I hear James Taylor, I'm in awe of him.
Since the old stereo systems are gone, I bought a different kind off the stereo system. Great sound!
    Just to play James Taylor!
The store asked me what music I liked t listen to.
    I said, well, James Taylor!
Al of the store clerks and customers said "YEAH" and they turned the music in the store to
    James Taylor! LOL 😊🤗❤
    Thank You James Taylor!

“Gone to Carolina in my Mind” - 1971 Fall in Chapel Hill JT played Carmichael Auditorium (then UNC’s basketball facility) - I got 2 tickets but my sister, a HS senior, adored James - so I gave girlfriend Patty one ticket & sister the other - an hour before showtime I snuck into Carmichael via adjacent Woolen Gym - a guy in the tunnel asked me why was I there? - I told him I was with the stage crew - unexpectedly he assigned me to carry some co-axle cable up to the spotlights - Minutes later I moved down to floor level and laid Patty & sis’s blanket front row - I put a song request list on the piano - the week before event Patty & Sis had a screen printed t-shirt made with “Sweet Baby James” on front (green field with yellow letters) - I took the wrapped shirt to the dressing room but was stopped so I asked security to deliver it - the outside doors opened and Patty & sis joined me at floor level - within 10 feet of JT’s virtuosity - he played his first set - took a brief intermission - then started playing again - after a few more songs Patty pokes me & points toward the entry way from dressing room - leaning against the wall wearing the t-shirt was Carly Simon! No shit! - can’t wait to return to Chapter Hill - Class of ‘74

This is a great concert. Stellar performances from JT, the band, and his backup singers. I bought the "Pull Over" DVD because I loved it so much, but JT has given us a real treat by putting most of the songs from the concert here on UA-cam for free. I'm not sure what happened but they upgraded my seat (BIG time) to the very front row & I was directly in front of Arnold & the other singers. What a thrill to be that close to James & all these tremendous singers that I've been watching on video for the last 30 yrs.

For me - this was my all time favorite number I had ever heard James do......It was some 50 years ago at the Mount Hermon School in MA - that I felt very honored and lucky to have ANY seat at this fabulous concert. But as the concert wore on, as good as everything was - something very marvelous happened to me when I heard him introduce this great "oldie" - later to become such a coveted hit for himself. Chills went up and down my spine, so to speak, as if some mysterious charge of electricity had just awakened me - musically!! I never forgot that song nor his performance of it - with the great band and background singers behind him - many of whom he still performs with today. I can certainly see - from the audience reaction to this very special number for James in this most memorable video clip - that I wasn't the only one who was very taken with his performance of this noteworthy hit. And you can certainly see "why"
the song was "saved" for THIS very special moment in the concert.......
Also - as an aside - Every time I see James do the number on video, no matter what the time in history - one can easily see just how much HE loves doing the song for a very eager audience!!
MANY THANKS, James, for all the wonderful music and times you've given to countless fans and admirers all over the world.
And......Many Thanks to all the kind viewers who took a few moments to read my comments......

It's sad how many of his band members have passed away over the years. At least two of the folks in this video are gone.

Love that moment at 1:17. He straps on the guitar and now it's time to get to work.

      It's not work, he plays!

@Helen Fontsere' randyedward Yes, It's play, of course. . But it's also getting down to business. Watching JT strap on the guitar at that moment is just special. He has a relationship with his instrument that is deep and it is part of who he is. It is home base.

Don't take "work" so damn seriously. I'm a musician. I get it. Lighten up y'all.

Next to Buddy Holly, this is the best rendition. James makes it his own.

@@cecilphillip9071 What has 'but' got to do with anything. Most musicians are liberal, to be fair. How about we simply enjoy his music and leave the armchair politics for another day?!?! Peace!
