The red-tuft Protula lives throughout the Mediterranean Sea in small tubes at depths that can vary from 10 meters to over 100 meters. It is a very common annelid throughout the Mediterranean and therefore we can easily find it among the Posidonia oceanica meadows, on the various detrital bottoms and in coral reefs. The red color characterizes this worm from the other species of the same family.

La Protula dal ciuffo rosso vive in tutto il Mar Mediterraneo in piccoli tubicini a profondità che possono variare dai 10 metri sino ad oltre 100 metri. Si tratta di un anellide molto comune in tutto il Mediterraneo e quindi lo possiamo trovare facilmente tra le praterie di Posidonia oceanica, sui vari fondali detritici e nelle barriere coralline. Il colore rosso caratterizza questo verme dalle altre specie della stessa famiglia.
