Great video...very clear and easy to follow instructions. My only question is: why doesn't GE include a wire nut with the add on switch?? It would literally cost them 10 cents. You're always going to need one!
Great explanation, thank you! Tried a few other videos on how to wire this switch, but could not quite get it to work... then I came across your explanation and it all came together. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. It for sure helped me getting it up and going. The blue tooth works fine as does the master switch. However- the secondary switch does not seem to function. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for doing this video!! I can't read wiring diagrams and I was trying to figure this out, would never have done it without you! Do I out have a video for 4 way switches?
nice job! where there master goes all my wiring looks like yours, but for the add on I have, red, black white and ground. any ideas on how to wire. Thanks
For the wire that you placed the tape onto, is that the line or load? I don't recall you saying what wire that was. Also, can you install only one smart 3-way on one side and one standard 3-way on the other side?
3-way question: How could I tell which outlet is master? I tested with meter, as follows: Box 1(2gang): has 2 hot wires & 1 load. Box 2(single box): has 1 hot wire & 2 loads. I have no idea which is traveler? Is traveler always hot? Confused
Do I need to connect the two switches via a smart hub before the add on will work? I can turn on and off from one side (smart side) but I cannot turn off from the add on side? Any guesses?
I did the same thing added my add on switch went to turn add on on it turned lights on then they went off automatically.so I got rid of the add on switch, used my old 3 way switch and connected my neutral to the black terminal and the red traveler line to the upper brass screw and all worked fine .
So in my situation one of my add-on switch location is End-of-Line so it only has Red, White, Black, and Copper....no second Black. The only way I could get the main switch to function correctly was to connect the Black and White together in the Add-on switch box with red as a traveler and copper to the green terminal. However, while the primary switch functions correctly, the Add-on switch does nothing....it is dead. Does anyone know how to hook it up correctly if your add-on location is the End-of-Line?
If you disconnect everything from your 2 switches and the panel breaker is on it will be the switch that has one of the black wires with 110-120vac (USA).
Loonytik Correct!! If you have a three way application, the process will not work unless you have two smart switches. That second switch is a control pass-thru back to the 1st switch using the neutral wires. The load is being controlled from the main switch.
Great video. You cover the part that no one will talk about (connecting line and load on the 3-way).
Qufinn Rene always of the howl ?w

Nice job - especially the tip on connecting the line/load in the slave switch
Thanks for the video! Best explanation I've seen so far. Good job!
Thank you! The connecting the line to load was the key to resolving my issue.
Thank you! This helped a lot! Instead of red wire I had a white wire and I had to figure out.

Thanks that was very helpful I’m planning on put in switches this weekend
So if you wire the add on that way, it means that hot will hot at all times correct.
Thanks for breaking it down, it actually makes sense now! :-)
Thank you brother, video is helpful
Thanks for the video man. That helps a lot. Let me ask you a question. if I'm not using a dimmer, just an on/off switch, do i need the add on still ?

Can I install 3 way z-wave dimmer, but do not replace the second switch and use it only as on/off? Will it work? How to wire it?

Thank you! That was really helpful
We’re did you put the red traveled wired at?
great job! thank you! you helped my problem!!
Danny Lee these switches are the most confusing switches ever made. Glad I could help a bit . I was confused as hell trying to get these to work.
What is the point of having the Add-On Switch? Will the switch that is not "Smart" no longer work if you don't use an add-on?
Only need add on switch if you have 2 switches controlling same light.
I have mine working but the blue light isn't on... does that mean i have to switch the main and add-on?
Oh, it's me why change by z-wave tutorial lights edition.
Why have light Traffic edition!?
Do I need to connect the two switches via a smart hub before the add on will work? I can turn on and off from one side (smart side) but I cannot turn off from the add on side? Any guesses?

Awesome! Thank you 👍
How do i know witch switch is the master?

what if I have a 4 way set up?
