The song is so clever in how it changes from being about his 'night moves' as a teenager then later it's about the night moving along and him aging quickly and now he is remembering his youth. It's both happy and kinda sad at the same time.

Here's a funny story. I got my learners permit to drive in 1976, the same year this album was released. I had been working on a 57 Chevy that my dad bought me when I was 13. It was a basket case when I got it, but I used to work at my uncle's service station(he would get really pissed if you called it a gas station) during the summer and by the time I got my permit, the car was a driver. I thought I was really something, cruising around in MY own car. When I got my 8-track, that's right.an 8-track player, wow man what else in life was there. Then I managed to super glue (it's a long story) the Night Moves 8-track into the player. I listened to that album for six months or so , never got sick of it, the only reason I took the 8-track player out was because I got myself one of those newfangled cassette players. The first cassette I bought was...Dark Side of The Moon, second one was Night Moves. Still have the car, it's in my driveway, there's a nice deck tucked away in the glove box and that 8-track player, is back in the dash Night Moves and all.
Of all the concerts I went to, Bob S in San Antonio - don't remember the year it was "The Silver Bullet Tour" The Auditorium staff had to shut off the power, Bob kept coming back and showed so much love... Best ever.

@Abracadabra 303 I'd also recommend "Mainstreet" off the same album. Bob recorded it at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Alabama along with the famous session musicians known as the Swampers. They produced and played on tons of hits for everyone from Percy Sledge to Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and so many more artists. One of them stated that Bob Seger has made sure that they received royalties from the song "Mainstreet" all of these years, even though there was no written contract requiring him to do so. Bob realized that many of the strongest elements of the song came from them and verbally agreed to give them a share if it was successful. He has been a man of his word they said. Thats what makes Bob's songs so great, many can relate and it strikes a chord deep within and takes us back to simpler times when we were young and in our prime. I hope you check out more from Bob Segar. his catolog is deep.
When they played this on the radio, they used a version that cut out the middle section when it slows down. I guess they didn't want listeners to think there wasn't any music for a second on their radio station.
Bob Seger is a legendary singer, songwriter. His Live Bullet album is phenomenal. Turn The Page, Beautiful Loser, We've Got Tonight....all classics. He is great.
I love it when someone really gets it the first time. NICE job. I laughed with you when you clapped your hand. So many have no clue what the song is even about :)

Bob Seger was born in Detroit Michigan and he's a legend in rock'n roll. His career goes back to 1966 when he had his first recording , East side story. Bob just retired he is 74 years old and he will be missed, because his 'live performances are legendary. A couple other songs that were played on supernatural are, the famous final scene and Lucifer check them out. And if you decide to really check out Bob go to his early stuff from 1966-74 and if you want some suggestions just let me know, take care and good luck.

Bob realized that many of the strongest elements of the song came from them and verbally agreed to give them a share if it was successful. He has been a man of his word they said. If you haven't seen the documentary Muscle Shoals I'd highly recommend it. Here is another clip just to show you who these session men were, and the hits you surely know that they were involved with... > ua-cam.com/video/tyM-X01c8a4/v-deo.html
I haven’t seen it , but I will , and you just made me respect for being a man about his word
Agree on the documentary recommendation.
RIP Pete Carr - session musician who birthed the wonderful guitar part in "Mainstreet"
I believe melancholy is the word. Looking back on good times yet feeling sad about it. I'm 51 and many of Bob's song take me back to then.
😀
"Mainstreet" & "Turn The Page" - next Please His storytelling is like watching a 3-D movie in your head!
Great whot your doing, introducing people to different kinds of music
Thank you
Bob Seger is top 10 of all classic rock bands. Many, many great songs
Bob Seger is a legendary singer, songwriter. His Live Bullet album is phenomenal. Turn The Page, Beautiful Loser, We've Got Tonight....all classics. He is great.
This takes me way back to that summer spent at the beach with that boy in northern Michigan!
😀
I love it when someone really gets it the first time. NICE job. I laughed with you when you clapped your hand. So many have no clue what the song is even about :)
It is a sad song about a man with sentimental remembrance...nostalgia...for his youth.
Bob Seger, incredible voice & song writer...no one like Bob,no one close.
Love so many seger songs. Among all the greatness, the piano always stands out
To me he's singing about remembering back through the different stages of his life and he dont have as much to lose he is older.
Another one of his in a similar philosophical vein is "Fire Lake"....
My favorite Seger tune! The Eagles harmonies make that song that much more amazing!
Any and all Bob S. Is worth reacting to live well my brother from another mother
I love Bob Seger , ✌to you Mark ,
This song always brings back great memories and makes me smile.
with autumn creeping in, wow, so many have since this first came out, means more and more each passing year.
Bob Seger and Johnny Cash are probably two of the best storytellers of all time. Such detail makes you feel like you were there or can see it. What a gift! The music adds nicely to the images in your mind.
That’s what great writers do , it’s the details of a song
Come on folks. Thirty thousand views and 18,000 subscribe. Help this man out on his journey. Great reactions and no bullshit. Keep it man, I'm pullin for ya. Thanks for your service too
Great reaction. Seger was my first concert, at The Omni in Atlanta. He’s got a deep catalog.
Bob equals SOUL.
Good reaction to one of the best songs of all time. We all had that "hot summer".
My brother, you entered the Bob Segar rabbit hole! He has aLOT of great songs!
A few weeks ago you did _Pink Floyd's _*_Time_* K, think of the lyrics here of this dude is 'thinking back & wondering'...... *"with Autumn Closing In"* and *"seems like l don't have as much to lose"* ---- Kinda like "the starting gun" line from _"Time"_
Bob Seger was born in Detroit Michigan and he's a legend in rock'n roll.
Seger is a fantastic story teller. Turn the Page is a wonderful song about the life of a traveling musician.
That’s what I’m enjoying about him , puts you there in the story
The entire Bob Segar and The Silver Bullet Band catalog is about vibe.
Congratulations to you for playing the song without stopping. Most reactors stop and interrupt the flow. Good job.
An amazing live performer, a musical genius!
