    Eh, maybe not enough to warrant a change for me, but some might appreciate it. I have a Valk with the standard baffles and it's juuuust enough to low idle my way out of the neighborhood without most of the neighbors wanting to throw rocks at me. I tried no baffles one time and it even pissed me off! Oh, and I had no idea there were different baffle levels, so thanks for making this video!

    After installing the Quiet Core baffles in my motorcycle, the exhaust sound is not only quieter, but much more well-rounded. The high pitch cracking under heavy throttle is almost non-existent. Much smoother.
    This comment is for those who might be in my same exact situation. My motorcycle is a 2009 Honda Shadow Aero and my exhaust is the Cobra Streetrods (part #1711T). I scoured the internet for days trying to find a solution that would quiet down my exhaust.
    Eventually, my research came down to two options. Cobra Quiet core baffles or fiberglass wrapping/packing the original baffles. After looking into fiberglass packing, I decided that I had no desire to pack the baffles every 3,000 some odd miles. Or in some cases not even 100 miles. Everybody had different experiences. So, the Quiet Core baffles were the choice.
    Now, the problem with this is that Cobra doesn't make Quiet Cores specifically for the 1711T Streetrods (or Streetrods in general for that matter). That is when I came across a forum from about 15 years ago where a guy said that the 9015Q Quiet Cores would work for the Streetrods. After watching vtxfan's video here and seeing the 9015Q's working as well in pipes with similar characteristics, I pulled the trigger. I installed them today and everything fit just fine.
    As I said, very happy with the result. Hopefully this helps. Thank you again for the video vtxfan!

    Perfect for a RWC 👌

      Thanks for the comment, that’s the original reason I did this thinking it would be easier to pass inspection. Come to find out that here, (according to the inspector), as long as it doesn’t leak it will pass inspection… but that doesn’t mean I can’t get a ticket for it. He also said “you got nothing to worry about… it purrs like a kitten”. Not sure how to feel about that …😂

    New to the channel, just subscribed..
    Close to pulling the trigger on an '05 vtx 1300.
    1st motorcycle so I'm a bit nervous but it's a great deal.
    Sat on an 883 and it felt way to small for me but the 1300 seems a bit

    Did it remove or silence a backfire? Thanks!

      @vtxfan  4 місяці тому +2

      Thanks for the question, no pair valve & fresh exhaust crush gaskets during Cobra install = no backfiring. Just an experiment to see if it would tone it down a little 😎👍🏻

      @@vtxfan Thank you! New stuff to learn and fix. I was thinking of adding exhaust heat wrap as well.

    I wonder if the mpg will increase?

      @@PaulsMotoZen that’s an interesting thought. I will have to check that. I averaged about 40mpg with stock pipes, and the standard Cobra setup.

    I changed my mind on wrapping the stock baffles. I just have no desire to re-wrap every few thousand miles. After watching your video, I think the quiet baffles will do what I want. The low end noise is nice, but screaming down the highway at 4000+ RPM gets old after a while with the stock baffles. Seems like the quiet baffles blunt some of that high end "cracking". Thanks for posting.

      Happy to help. They absolutely take away most of the droning when on the highway, (and you won’t have to back off the throttle so much when you pass the “you know who”)

      @@vtxfan I thinks it still possible to add a layer of ceramic fiber to cobra quiet cores.

      @@vtxfan Well, after a gallon of WD-40, some verbal abuse, and lots of persuasion, I finally replaced the stock baffles with the Quiet Cores. I ended up using a hub cap remover to hook on the stock baffle openings and more or less hammer them out with the spring loaded handle. The 9015Q part number fit perfectly in the Streetrods on my 2009 Honda Shadow Aero. I'll give you an update when I finish riding later.

    • @vtxfan
      @vtxfan  4 місяці тому +1

      glad to hear you got them sorted, verbal abuse seems to be pretty effective on inanimate objects 😂

      Went for a 100ish mile ride and WOW! I honestly think that the Quiet Cores should've been in the pipes from the factory. It completely changed the character of the exhaust. It went from somewhat obnoxious to a complete, quieter, and more well-rounded sound. I can hear cars going by, my driveshaft, and the engine internals now. Definitely worth the switch.
      Thanks again for the video! I'll post a separate comment with my specific bike, exhaust, and the baffle part number you mentioned in the video for anyone who might be in my situation as well. Cobra doesn't technically make any baffles for the Streetrods and the 9015Q's worked perfectly. 👍

    that loctite is useless with the heat the exhaust will be subjected to so I highly advise to not use the loctite but a lock washer
