You are not cheap. You are just a smart shopper.
Hahahaha...yup-that’s a big part of it!
@@BeeJayDeL witch one is the one on your iPad in the beginning of the video before you took it off and put the other one on?
@@redburn1990 he had on the tech armor
@@BeeJayDeL do u get wobble with this screen protector?
Nope, he's a straight up cheapass
I do appreciate the honest review. Nearly every Paperlike review I've found has been sponsored, and therefore untrusted. I only have one problem with the way this was handled. You are comparing a product you've used for years to something you used for a few minutes. Nearly 100% of the time, the old and comfortable is going to win this kind of comparison. A fair comparison would have been to use the Paperlike for a month or so and give your opinion. That said, I personally went cheap and while I'm mostly happy with the screen protector I got (3 for $12) it has a bit of a sandpaper feel to it. I'm curious if Paperlike or TechArmor have that problem as well.
SING IT SISTER
Soooooo trueee
i felt that way too, personally i have been using a cheaper item too and it’s been fine however i actually wish it had a little more grit like using microns on paper, have you gotten the paper like yourself and been able to build your own opinions?
Which one did you buy ?
Very very true
I'm about to get my iPad and I was SOOOOO close to buying paper like I NEEDED THIS VIDEO thanksss!!
Me too !
have you recived the teck armor? how is it? for writing? im a student and im confused
You should try it for yourself. Reviews are mixed good some bad. I almost cancelled as well, but noticed some of the bad reviewers were using 'notes' and no drawing glove. Sure enough the product is awesome,, love the paper feel. Works perfectly as intended. Unless you like the slippery glass feel of a non-mat no paperlike protector.
I got Paperlike and hated it. I was really surprised because so many people recommended them. I get Tech Armor every time. Glad to see someone giving it an honest review.
I was really surprised too based on the reviews!
A good, honest review. Thank you.
Paperlike's marketing and design is very attractive, but the product is far too expensive. It makes Apple pricing look restrained. And, as you say, far too many real-world users on Amazon have said that Paperlike destroys the Apple Pencil tips.
Also, the way Paperlike has saturation-bombed social media influencers with these things... it's really heavy-handed. It all feels like an exercise in style over substance. But the difference between paid-up influencer reviews and real-world reviews is stark.
Very good points....and agreed
How can you call this a non bias test. He went into this not liking the paper light and if you use one screen cover for years of course you will dislike any others.
As someone who did have Paperlike I can definitely say it does wear down the nib faster than a basic matte screen protector (which I started using after I saw many artists doing so.) the matte screen protector doesn’t distort the colors like the paperlike did.
What screen protector did you use?
Not worth.
Thank you so much! I was actually searching for something more affordable and good quality. Everyone was telling paper like was the best but I just didn’t feel comfortable without doing my own research? I already saw more than 5 artist and only one said they liked it and you sold me in the tech armor! So tysm!!
0:56 “100% completely unbiased comparison”
11:06 “I’ve been using tech armor for years, it’s my favorite”
Not really unbiased if you’re comparing something you’ve been using for years and are comfortable with to another product that is new to you. I just felt this was much more one sided than a true non biased review imo
Thank you sooo much! Just watching you draw was enough for me to make a decision. The ASMR was the topper. Appreciate you
not sure what i look more, that hoodie or how beautiful your set looks 👊🏻
Haha! Thanks man!
Leon’s nostrils and beautiful lushous lips are such an iconic combo
I expected to see anyone but Leon, nice to see haha
wow wtf ure here. i like ur content
or just how sexy of a daddy he is 😋
interesting. i have been using pencil to glass for years and this week finally installed a paper like and maybe it is because I have not used a tech armor but my initial impression of the paper like is a HUGE benefit to drawing. i can immediately get smoother lines than I was getting straight glass.
if that other one is even better I am going to have to give it a try after I use the paper like for some time.
I just got a new iPad yesterday and I had placed an order for PaperLike due to all the many ads and comments. Your review me change my mind. And it's not just the $40. It's the performance of the product. Thanks! I just subscribed!
Just installed the Tech Armor thanks to your recommendation. The install went fine and I love the feel of it so far for drawing. Can’t beat the price! Thanks for sharing!
nice video! this was exactly the video I was looking for. going to go with the TechArmor like you suggested. Thanks!
Update: I just bought a new ipad pro 12.9" and decided to get the Tech Armor screen protector that you linked to and this thing is awesome! I was using a different one on my regular ipad and it was good, but this Tech armor is way better.
Straight and to the point! Thank you sir!
OK! Ordered. Thanks fella!
Thanks dude! Great review, just went and ordered myself a tech armor protector off amazon. Looking forward to seeing how it goes!
I’ve been intrigued by Paperlike for a loonnnggg time. So glad I didn’t pull the trigger. Knowing how happy you are with the Tech Armor has me sold. I’ve been drawing on the iPad glass long enough.
Matte is a lot better than glass! Glad I could save you some money!
There are still people disliking this video...I could even see how you were struggling trying to get smooth lines with paperlike...maybe some people like to use more force while drawing and change their pen nibs every few months, but for me this video was very helpful and i could almost feel how trashy paperlike is...thank you very much for this video, hope this one goes viral so nobody is going to waste their money on Sandpaperlike
Appreciate you watching! Just trying to be as honest as I can with my impressions...glad you were able to see the difference as well!
what Screenprotektor did you use now?
@@Dodomba He uses tech armor...I'm using tech armor for a few months now, and let me tell you, you will never regret buying the tech armor screen protector.... it's much closer to real paper than paperlike....bro it's so cheap and you get 2 screen protectors for 10$ which will last as long as paperlike and you won't need to buy new nibs any faster than you would without a screen protector...I'm still using my first pen nib and it looks like new...
the customer support of tech armor is so nice and fast to respond, you wouldn't believe it...
i sent them emails and got responds as fast as if we were chatting on whatsapp...
Tech armor all the way bro, you can trust this youtuber because he doesn't make videos only for the views like everyone else
@@blabla8339 I don't believe a real person wrote this lol
@@kira7683 I'm not a real person?
Thank you so much, I was looking for an honest review, looking for what real artists recommend for ipad drawing - I haven't done digital art in years, not since I was a teenager at least a decade ago, and really wanted to get back into it, and I'd heard of paperlike but immediately I saw the reviews on amazon complaining that it just destroys your nib and I did not want that.
Thank you for mentioning the brand you use regularly and have had good long-term experience with, that's what I really needed to hear from seasoned digital artists when deciding what to get to get me started. This video was a lifesaver for my wallet and nib, lmao.
Thanks for this dude!!!
I have only had an ipad mini for about 2 months and I bought a paperlike screen protector thinking I would like it since I used to just draw on a sketch pad. I agree with you so much. I am going to order myself a regular one now. The paperlike almost felt like a texture on there and I can't get the hang of how much pressure I have to put on everything to write or draw. And it does have a milky color to it also. I am ordering myself the regular screen protector now.
Thank you for this video, gonna go with the Tech Armor!
First time iPad owner & I’m very happy to save money where I can 😅 Thank you so much for the video, very informative.
I’m so glad that I found ur video,it was very helpful😁,thank u for being honest☺️
I personally don't trust a product that EVERY SINGLE iPad video on youtube are sponsoring. Its absurd how many videos are promoting the Paperlike and yet they are still $20 bucks a piece. That said, you have used one product for years and years, so you are more than likely used to it and any little change is going to feel odd. So who knows, maybe it is good for someone who is just moving over to a "paper like" protector.
I just got an iPad for casual use, prob will be picking up the Tech Armor.
Thank you! Very helpful video!
Great video! I was just, literally, looking at screen protectors so my Apple Pencil doesn’t ice skate across my tablet. 😌
Thanks! Appreciate you watching!
Loved the honest review
I'm thankful I came across this video before making the purchase, as I was planning on getting Paperlike as well (given the amount of promotion on UA-cam itself)
How often to you change your screen cover and apple pencil tips? Love the review helped me alot
Is there one from Tech Armor for 8th gen iPad? I can’t seem to find it in the descriptions. Thanks for any advice!
Totally rad video! Thanks for the shout! Great review.
Thanks again man!
Thank you for the information.
Thank you for making this video! Definitely going to try your recommendation. I was so excited for my Paperlike screens to arrive and I ruined both of them almost immediately. There's no way I'm going to waste another $40 to replace the ones that got ruined. ): Looks like a $10 protector will be just fine.
THANK YOU FOR THIS
Good honest review which we don’t see that often nowadays
really GREAT video on the purpose of a matte protector!
Glad to save the money!! I'm super new to iPad and digital art and I wondered if using a regular screen protector was holding me back after hearing about Paperlike but naaaah. I already have a shaky hand, I don't think this would help. Good to know, though, that looking specifically for matte ones will get a better feel, because I think the one I have may be tempered glass.
Hey jay. I have an iPad 7th gen which is 10.2. I can’t seem to find a tech armour to fit. Do they do it for this iPad
Thanks for the honest review! I have been considering paper like but couldn’t bring myself to drop $40 on them. Giving tech armor a try
So glad I have been buying the cheaper ones 👍 great video, appreciate your honesty.
👍 good choice! Thanks for watching!
I ain't got iPad yet (just waiting half May) but surely I'll get the best extras to wear on it.
As you said it´s all about practical, comfort and price. I´ll be good to know about protector
cases too, thanks again Jay!
I like the paperlike, but that's also the only one I've been using - so I've become used to the way it feels (like a pencil on paper) Now when I go back to something more slippery, it feels off. I assume this is the same thing but in reverse. Different strokes for different folks!
That’s the thing though-I don’t think it feels like paper at all! Do you have the old Paperlike or the new one? (I’ve heard this new one has the issues I was experiencing more than the 1st type they made.)
@@BeeJayDeL I figured something changed and now moving on to something cheaper and better.
I have an ipad air 4th gen. 10.9 inch. any suggestions on a screen protector for that model?
Tech Armor are currently out of stock of the one I need. Is there another brand you suggest?
hi! thanks for your video! very clear and useful!! One question.. .is there tech armor version for IPAD AIR 4??? I can't find it... any other similar??? THANKS!!!
Thank you for the honest review. I was looking at the Paperlike but wasn't ready to pay that much. So I purchased a simple paper-style screen protector and are happy with it. I assume it is more like the Tech Armor.
And yes, I saw that especially newbs grind the pencil tip to the bone, so to speak, in a month or so on the Paperlike
could you send the link pls
@@quraniclofi - I wouldn't find it... just a simple generic matt screen from Amazon
Thank you so much! I subscribed
You saved me money! Thank you.
Awesome video!
Does tech armor make this for the iPad Air 4 I can’t seem to be able to find it??
I tried the Paperlike also. I don't like it either. It's too grippy and does chew up the pencil much faster. This was a great and honest review.
Dumb question but I have to ask could the techsrmour be used over a glass screen protector? Sorry for asking. Regards Fred
I saw this video and got some Tech Armor matte screen protectors for my iPad 6 and I like them! My mom also got some tech armor screen protectors for her new iPhone 12, and I got a matte screen for my iPhone 8+ too. I'm glad they have screen protectors for all these different devices! I'm glad I chose Tech Armor for my first dive into matte screen protectors because they're cheap and if I didn't like them it wouldn't be too bad. I do really like them though, and I think I might keep buying them when I need screen protectors. Thanks!
I’m the 1000 like! Thank u for ur video
Is this is the Paperlike 2.0 or 2.1? If you have the 2.1 version would love a review please!
So I didn't understand which screen protector you are suggesting exactly? I would appreciate it if you could send a link to buy please. I have an iPad mini 6 that I use mainly for drawing..
I have seen so many honest reviews about the paperlike today, and what am I glad you guys made these. I’m getting my iPad this october and I wanted a paperlike. But it’s an expensive joke if the paperlike really sucks. Cheaper one it is then!
Do they have one for ipad 8th gen 10.2? Thank you for the video!
Random question but which iPad Pro size would you recommend for the screen and storage?? I will be using it to build a portfolio, procreate and things to just improve on skills.
What’s the best matte screen protector for the iPad Air 4
Nice, thanks
THANK YOU!
I just recently got into digital art and I've been looking at which protector to get. I was being... drawn... (No pun *originally* intended) to the Paperlike thinking it was designed for drawing, but between this video and a recommendation from family, I'll be saving quite a bit of money! Thank you!
How's the tech armour one? Did it cause tip damage or something?
I’ve had the Tech Armor for about 8 months, and I love it. I’ve even had friends and family tell me “it actually sounds like your drawing on paper….”
And while I’ve had no tip wear yet, I honestly expect it to happen sooner or later. It is a more abrasive surface than the glass screen, so it will definitely cause wear, but I personally cannot attest to how long it will take to cause any wearing.
@@shortyman9392 tysm for responding ❤️
does the tech armor matte screen scratch? my only hesitation with the paperlike is how horribly it scratches over time just by using the apple pencil. i have currently used a glass protector for the last year and a half
Good to know, thanks for your honest opinnion
Is tech armor a brand that you like, or is it just one among the cheaper brands?
I’m asking because I’ve seen a number of brands in the cheaper range (including some a little bit cheaper than tech armor) and I’m not sure if it’s worth taking a chance
Thank you for the recommendation ,I want to buy it too, but on amazon i can’t find it. I don’t know whether its available in italy or not . Any other suggestions for a screen protector. I take tons of notes on ipad. But its difficult to write on glass all the time.
I wanted to buy the screen protector your using yet its not available anymore. Do you have any other recommendations?
Thanks BeeJayDel. Super assessment 👌
Hii, pls what is the brand name of your pencil tips protectors ????
how do you know when to change your screen protector?
Anyone know if the glass version of tech armor is good just like the plastic ones
I have the same iPad 12.9 inch pro…love it.
And what about playing some casual games on the ipad, how does that work with the matte screen protector???
The ICarez Matte Screen Protector is the best I've found...looks to basically be the same as your Tech Armor.
The one time I tried a Paperlike Clone, it was like drawing on rough sand paper.
Haven’t tried those...I’ll have to keep them in mind too!
I also use the iCarez Matte Screen Protector, but had to replace nib after 4.5 months of daily drawing. I had a heavier hand, but have adjusted sensitivity and learned to draw with lighter hand. No rainbow effect, nice texture, and sound. But since you have used the Tech Armor for years and nib didn’t wear down too quickly, I’m considering trying it out. Thanx for the video 😊
Thanks for this, i was just about to order paperlike and decided to do a quick search and you popped up. $15 later (price went up i guess) and I have Tech Armor matte screen protector on my ipad 11 pro
Did they make a tech armor matte screen for ipad mini gen 6? If not, any other alternatives?
What a great review. I agree that it might have been better to use it for a while- but I don't think I could use something that dulls color or has too much resisitance. It was obvious that the paperlike was milky looking. I am going to go with the tech armor. Just got the newest ipad and I don't like the idea of the keyboard facing the screen when I close the case. Would this protect it? Or would you recommend not closing the keyboard on it? Thanks.
Thank you so much
I have an iPad Air and I have been trying to look for a screen protector but can’t find one and I looked online to see if they make one for the iPad Air and they don’t any suggestions on good smooth screen protectors??
Thanks for the heads up oon this but I cannot find this product for the 2021 iPad pro 11" Does anyone have any idea who in the UK retails this?
Isthe tech Armour matte similar with the paperlike? With like the screen touch or sound? Cause I enjoy paper sounding noises and stuff but I'd like to have a easy time drawing without wearing down pens
Goddammit, I ordered Paperlike because of word of mouth and I needed this video so bad 2 days ago. Ugh, definitely going to return them once they arrive alter today and buy some Tech Armour. Really appreciate the honesty and overall attitude in this video.
@@emil-9432 Neat, your video review was real insightful. Oh wait....
@@emil-9432 I believe that the lack of vibrant colors comes with any matte protector. You just gotta pick one or the other based on what you use it for. I mean if you’re only taking notes a matte one would be the obvious choice but I can se why drawing could be awful with the matte.
@@emil-9432 ''It's not my video''
My point went over your head. I was mocking you, since you came in here and hit me with LITERALLY nothing but ''This is terrible'' after a well made and thorough video. i.e. I'm making fun of how your comment is crap and isn't gonna be taken seriously 'cause it provided zero feedback to anything lol.
Regardless, I got my TA and prefer it to the feel of Paperlike (tried PL first).
@@emil-9432 ''I have this it's terrible.'' isn't help, as an initial reply. Especially on a thorough video lmao.
Can you please make an installation video for the Tech Armor?
Is there a versión for the IPad Pro 12.9 5th. Generation?
that's a great background for your videos..
Thanks Paul!
I'm going to get an iPad soon! So I wanted to see if paper like is actually worth it and I have decided on the ESR tempered glass screen protector
Would this fit in a 2021 iPad Pro
Omg, I totally want to try it asap! Seems it has all the benefit of the "paper-like experience" without ruining the nib, which is everything an artist can ask! 😃 Another thing I want to ask though is this: I have a 7th generation iPad, it's a 10,2". Is there a tech armor screen protector even for my model - and that ship to Italy? I found some on Google but I'm not sure if they're the same "model" 🤔
I use the SuperShieldz matte screen protector that Teoh Yi Chie recommended a while back. It has not let me down! I think it was $12 USD when he spoke about it, it was $9.99 when I got it, and now it’s $7.99! I’ve used mine for 3 months, drawing comics, and the nib hasn’t worn down yet.
I’ll have to check that one out!
@@BeeJayDeL And you get 3 in a pack with SuperShieldz :) At least with the 2018 ones... I haven't tried TechArmor ones though.
I've always used SuperShieldz, too and I'm glad to read they have matte ones for them! I'm ordering the new iPad Pro 12.9 this week! I can't wait to grab one and not waste my money on a Paperlike! Thanks for sharing!
@@BeeJayDeL have anyone here compared supershieldz vs tech armor yet? I tried to buy tech armor after seeing this video but they are sold out everywhere for the iPad mini 6. This iPad is also very new so there aren’t many options. I saw supershieldz is still on the market, but I’m not sure how it compared to tech armor. There are like mixed reviews about it on UA-cam.
Thank you so much for this honest review. It is so difficult to find un-sponsored posts these days. I am very new to digital drawing and looking for a screen protector for my iPad. I was going to go with paperlike as it seems everyone is doing it, but was so hesitant about the cost. Have just ordered the Tech Armour. Thanks again.
This review helped a lot. I will totally buy paper like as from your description it seems paper like provides a closer experience to traditional medium and I hate drawing on class screen.
Thanks for the vid, I was going to buy a paperlike screen protector. But seeing you have difficulty drawing on it. I'm good, thanks bud.
Hey BeeJayDel, thanks for the review. Very helpful. Does Tech Armor not have one of these for the iPad Air 4th Gen? I didn't see one in your links or when I searched their Amazon store. Thanks!
For the iPad Air 4 (2020) it’s the same as the iPad Pro 11 inch (2018 and 2020). A lot of companies have combined those as sizing is (almost) the same. Think that tech Armor did the same looking at their products.
@@liesbeth9810 thank you! This is very helpful.
do it wear down your pencil tip?
Hey buddy , what is a good iPad Case for gen 8 10.2 size ?
I bought a cheap set of two screen protectors on Ebay (I think), a couple of years ago. I'm still using the first one and still haven't had to replace the tip of my pencil yet, either.
