Great video wondering is it worth buying ? I’m looking to see if it works with global B vehicles mostly all the newer GM vehicles are Global B vehicles and also does it have the option to work on the new 2020 corvette C8 ? Thanks
Not sure all the stuff it works on. It's the unit only, no software so I was running all the AC Delco/GM software to run it. Turns out that the SPS system only recognizes it as an MDI (first generation). So I suspect that these cheap clone units are just MDI cards in MDI2 plastic housings. It still did what I needed it to do.
Hey! I have recently been researching and looking into this . I currently have to use this to program TCM on my 2011 Chevy Cruze LT . I am wanting to order can you share some knowledge and wisdom with me upon if I should get it with the software ? I don’t have a laptop yet to use or connect I have to buy one lol
I have not used it since I first bought it, but I was able to use all the legit drivers and program the modules I needed without any issues. Only thing I ran into is that the software recognizes it as an MDI, not MDI2.
I really should make a follow up video... I used www.acdelcotds.com/ for the programming, and it worked even with this clone MDI2 - however the software only "saw it" as an older MDI module. The SPS (programming) is $45 for a year. This module cannot scan for codes alone, I *believe* you would need a short-term subscription of the tech2win app from the same site. I have a physical Tech2 for that, so I have not tested it.
@@davesdiy9836 I was considering getting one of these mdi2 or a j2534 pass thru from autel or a new scanner that comes with a passthru. What would you recommend
Hi I’ve been looking for somewhere to purchase a mdi2 but everywhere I look the reviews are always a hit or miss … I’m wondering if u would be will to share we’re u got ur mdi2 .. thank u and I’m looking forward to see the next video of u using the mid2
Have you been able to program your modules yet? I have heard that alot of the MDI/MDI2 devices are missing parts to make the network cards work? The ones with WIFI tend to work better. Can you post a link to where you ordered from if it worked?
Yes, I have been able to program with the MDI. I ran my Surface tablet in the truck and connected the MDI through USB. I say MDI, because even though it is sold as a "MDI2" the SPS system does not recognize it as such, only a MDI. So I suspect only the housing was updated but the internals were not changed in this clone unit. Bought from chinacardiags.com
This is true, however if you call them they will grant temporary access to the old system. It still did not help me out, but at least they were willing to try.
@@djosbun Ah that's good to know. I misread your original date. Probably stopped since folks were still having problems. I know when I called in August or Sept 2022 they were advising me to move up to newer hardware (the MDI/MDI2) but still granted it at the time.
Does It support for 2019 gmc duramax?
I want a set up for my laptop so i can go into my 2005 silverado and cut things off in the ecu I don’t use anymore ! What do i need ?
Sounds like you'd need something like HP Tuners, not this. The GM tools are for diagnostics and don't let you change very much.

Hi give me a link to download the latest version for VCI MANAGER MDI2
Present day any issues? How did it go without buying the software? Any issues with downloading the drivers from bosch? Thanks

Where did you find the software and how much was it? Also did the software you found have diagnostic capabilities like to read DTCs?

How much is the whole kit?
I think I paid about $210
The old SPS software is no longer available. GM shelved it December 2022.
