The music montage (Scorcese-like) to "You Can't Always Get what you Want" was the better choice for the funeral. Covered quite a bit of plot and character development in 3+ minutes.
When my dad first showed me this movie, he put on the deleted scenes afterward out of curiosity. He hated how none of the friends or Alex's parents recognised Michael, saying it really didn't work. I agree with him, especially given how later in the film, Harold points out that Michael hasn't changed. I'm really glad they didn't keep these scenes in the theatrical cut.
Has anyone ever stumbled across the cut final scene which included Costner? It was a flashback to a Thanksgiving dinner they had together while at the University of Michigan.
Its funny how Kevin Costner doesnt even make it into the deleted scenes. Apparently Kasdan wanted the end to have a fade from the kitchen table scene to their college years which I guess would have included Alex.
I can't wait to finish this to comment. I'm so happy I'm getting to watch these, so thank you so much! But the first two minutes shows how great a job was done leaving some stuff on The Cutting Room floor.
It's like in spite of the humor in them, these are too mundane for that movie. Which sounds funny because of course the movie was so realistic. But, it was strangely never mundane.
I live in Mississippi coastal, Biloxi area, and surrounded by them. They are called, "Live Oaks." They are beautiful with giant branches running in all directions, even inches off the ground sometimes.
Jeff Goldblum was so dizzy in this movie. I love him! He's the best! William Hurt was very dizzy too. Such a great movie! I can watch it over and over again forever!
I think it’s horrible how Kasdan would deny the audience the chance up see the flashback scene with Kevin Costner playing Alex in the thanksgiving dinner. Just for his own selfish reasons
These deleted scenes should have been included. The closeness of some characters is nicely contrasted with the awkwardness of Jeff Goldblum's assumption that he'd be easily recognized and welcomed back into the fold.
@@donarthiazi2443 Fully agreed. It makes very little sense that Michael wouldn't be recognised. It was less than 12 years, not 40. Plus, the characters make a point to say that Michael hasn't changed, which goes against the whole "who are you again?" scenes we have here. Adding nothing would have been forgivable, but these scenes actively undermine the movie, in my opinion.
@@JimmySteller At least Sam recognized him. I do wish they kept the brief Meg/Karen scenes, I don't think we ever saw those 2 interacting together much (if at all) in the movie.
Wow, Kasdan really made a good call cutting and re-shooting the funeral scenes. The funeral the theatrical cut is touching and classic. These deleted scenes have a totally different feel to them. Less charm. Weak and repetitive cinematography. The dialogue is much wittier and moving in the theatrical version.
Love this movie. How old are these characters supposed to be in this film? I’m assuming early 30s? Reason I ask is because they seem sooo much older than the 30 year old I know and that were in my generation lol
Man, I forgot how hilarious Jeff Goldblum was in this film, they shoulda left his bit meeting Alex's parents...PRICELESS!
I’m off to watch the Grand Master do his thing. He deserves his own movie.

Great movie. Incredible acting

Yeah, I would like to see those Costner scenes.
No I have not but would like to see them
I read where Lawrence Kasadan vowed to never let that scene out.

I just love those old Oak Trees with the Spanish Moss.

Rather gruesome equivalency. They liked the moss - not other things - hanging from them.

Oh boo-hoo 🙄
I love all these scenes.
They should’ve left all Jeff Goldblum scenes in!
Should've cut more of his scenes out

Much better without those scenes at the funeral, which added nothing to the story or characters.
Agree but I’d still like to see the hill with all of these scenes added in .. this is a classic movie
I agree. I enjoy seeing the deleted scenes, but they don't add anything we didn't already get from the rest of the film. It was smart to cut them.
Absolutely. Not only did they add nothing, they were were both boring and awkward. Great decision👍
6:15 Sure looks like Forrest Gump's house. ❤
Great Santini house

You’re a moron and don’t understand editing
Certainly hope you're better now.
Please make movies like this NOW!!!! Please

These scenes were awkward and added little to nothing to the film. Great decision to cut them👍

Hard to believe they even considered leaving in the dirt shoveling, as well.

Glad the cut that grave scene

The THIRD largest planet is Saturn? WTF????
Is that a tie she is wearing in the scene at the house? She didn't really tie it very well.
❤️
I don't remember Glenn Close being in this movie.
She was nominated for an Oscar for it
Then you've obviously never seen this movie. No way

Okay. I was wondering about not remembering seeing her. She probably had the biggest role in the film.
