I really want your thoughts on this one, what are your plans going forward regarding Harley-Davidson? Do we keep riding Harleys and go on about our business or sell our bikes and switch to another brand?
I've already said i'm never buying a new Harley Davidson again. So i'll just stick with my Sportster and my Softail Twin Cam and what Harley is to *me*. A part of the "spirit of the biker" if you will, is not being labeled, being rebellious and free. So we ride older Harleys as an expression of who we are inside, not who sits at the top of a corporation that makes a machine. That being said, I would not openly support Harley Davidson as a company for those decisions. But I would defend my choosing to ride one, and why.
With no more imported electronics. Let the rider use his or her skills. I have a 84 Honda magna every thing still works fine at 62,000 miles. I love the Harley's problems are the doggone electronics and Denso starters.
That won't happen. The two biggest multinational, multi trillion dollar holding and sharing corporations (Black Rock, and Vanguard) put him in place. Nobody has the money to defeat them, because those two companies are the biggest companies with the largest amount of money on planet Earth. They also own.... everything. Every single thing. Whether they directly but their name as owners, or use proxy companies, those two companies are quite literally the NWO. Wherever there is money, there are the fingerprints of Black Rock, and the fingerprints of Vanguard.

Don’t really need to boycott buying a new Harley because in the past 4 years they have destroyed the brand and look themselves. There is no new one I would even consider buying. The brand (designers)has spit in the face of loyal Harley owners for years.
Back in the nineties HD stuck it to the longtime family owned dealers. Either put up a million dollar palace/lifestyle center or get lost. Well now HD is sticking it to the traditional owners. Buy used.

If people my age or younger are getting bikes they're most likely not buying a brand new Harley. Probably not buying anything brand new really. Motorcycles are really seen as a toy or luxury in Majority of the US, can't daily a bike in a lot of states. Plus they always say "Motorcycles are dangerous" blah blah.
@@SooHighFashion Would you ride a 500cc HD cruiser or even let's say a hypothetical "488 Iron side" that came in at tops 7k with a 5k base model? HD has a 500cc running around in China right now. Either HD or Benelli, but it looks just like an HD, and it's moving right now. I can't justify a 900lb bike, but I can justify a budget friendly 883 option.
@nokintendo9132 if the bike looks like a naked bike like a KTM 390 Duke or Yamaha mt03 then maybe yeah. But in my area ehhhhhhhh. If that was my price range I think I would just look for a used sportster similarly priced or go else where because honestly every other motorcycle manufacturer has better options that'll be cheaper anyway lol
CF Moto NK450 is a naked sport bike, and there are CFs that can be turned into SuperMotos. HDs 500 are definitely cruisers, but might not be available in North America yet..
Sure. But it isn’t that easy. This is all driven by a global corporate agenda where the major global companies are being assigned social rating scores. This isn’t just to appeal to SJWs. But to avoid SJ “influencing tools” being used to coerce agenda-driven actions. Companies that get low HRC scores face consequences beyond shaming within their woke CEO club. Their lenders will treat HRC score similar to FICO score and myriad of other schemes underway. God forbid a company does something to get excommunication from WEF. WEF’s ESG has introduced the concept of “stakeholders” whose interests supersede the prior model of “listening to customers and shareholders”. But yes… customer pushback and walkaway is really the only tool we can wield.

I spent years in sales in auto, power sports, firearms and fencing and was very successful. It is about listening to the consumer and catering to his needs.
Then what? Boomers are old or dead. Young people don't want to be part of the H-D "lifestyle". They don't even want to ride. H-D sold 300,000 bikes (and millions of t-shirts) per year for 30 years. There are 10 million used H-Ds coming to the market soon. The used v-twin market will be flooded.
I won’t be giving HD another dime. I understand that it will hurt HD employees and dealerships, but these companies have gone too far and the only way for them to learn is to stop buying their products. Businesses need to stay out of politics
Stay out of politics? HD has been the absolute poster child of a corporate lobbyist for at least 50 years. If they weren't, they wouldn't be around today as the import tariff they lobbied the Reagan administration for was the only thing that saved Harley from the Japanese putting them out of business. I agree. Luckily I sold both of mine back in 2013 because both had major problems with less that 3000 miles. Forget HD standing behind warranty. Dealership was a disgusting joke. Went back to metric bikes and that ended problems.
Major corporations in this country have been mismanaged for many years. They have allowed firms like Blackrock, Vanguard, and others to become major stakeholders. So when these people, whomever they are tell the CEOs to jump, they jump. It's a sad day. However, as we've seen, the customers can make a huge difference.
The other is State street. Along with BlackRock and Vanguard they control the pressure spigot of DEI on companies, it's a case of comply or we turn the money lending machine for you
This happened --3yrs ago I went into my local H-D dealership, chose a model they did`nt actually have in stock, put down a $2000.00 deposit and waited for the bike to arrive. 2mnths later I was feeling very sick, went to the doctor, after tests and ECG, discovered I`d had a heart attack, was booked in for surgery. Contacted the bike shop talked to the manager and asked for my deposit back, he got angry and said the policy was to keep the deposit. WTF??. After some to and fro, he said ok we`ll only keep $500, WTF??, long story short-I agreed just to keep the peace. So now after recovering from quadruple bypass surgery I`m riding my second KTM. F H-D, never again will I give them a dime.
From what I've been able to find out, that foreign (he isn't even a U.S. citizen) CEO was hired specifically to destroy H-D. And he's doing a great job of that. The real owners of H-D, namely Blackrock and Vanguard, want it gone. Its existence does not fit in with the WEF plans.
This one’s never sat through a how many frontline jobs do we save for each management job we cut meeting. These things hit corporate first and ultimately last.
My biggest dealership gripe currently is a T shirt for $42 f***** dollars! It costs $500 to get a rear tire replaced. It's becoming more and more of a rich man's game.

I haven’t been in a Harley dealership in at least 10 years and have no plans to return. Hell, I don’t even own a t shirt that says Harley. If they go down, so be it.
I was a diehard Harley owner and was a handshake away from buying a new harley. Luckily I found out about this. I turned away and am now a proud Indian Scout owner. Screw Harley davidson.
Harley has been mismanaged for decades. Reagan gave them a protectionist trade policy and they took all of their profits and blew it. During that era I spoke to one of their techs in Daytona during bike week and I realized that the company doesn’t give a rat’s ass about its consumers. Willie G is an idiot. They could have doubled their production during this era and flat out refused. They had an opportunity to make a whole lot of money and refused. They are complete morons.. they are the Cleveland’s browns of motorcycles. Walk away. Their bikes are junk.
Many corporations simply IGNORE it! Nowadays it seems that losing customers is just viewed as "collateral damage" to a company. They just don't seem to care, until it's too late..........
As an older rider, Im done supporting them. My wife has a bike, I have 2. So 3 Harleys in the stable. I will only support aftermarket vendors. Never used the dealership for labor related jobs. If I sell any of my current bikes it will not be for another Harley.
Yeah, there are plenty after market third party suppliers out there and plenty of used Harleys on the market. I can keep riding Harley’s and never give a dime to the motor company.

Trying to grow your brand by reaching out to communities that aren't your typical consumer base isn't political. Choosing not to buy a product because they don't mirror your hatered is.
Mismanagement. Changing markets & demographics. Prices WAAY TOO HIGH kept HD complacent that people would get on a waiting list for a motorcycle that needed another $3500+ in mods to compete/ perform..
I went to my dealership and saw 16 road glide CVO’s…. People are broke and we have been in a depression shadowed by money printing… it’s going to be a crazy 2025

I bought my Harley used, I use a local independent mechanic. I have never bought anything at a dealer. Every time I went to a dealer the employees were arrogant buttholes!
WE have to wake up. It is not about Harley or other companies. It is about Mr. Soros and "friends" and depopulation of the planet. There is a pattern. Look at Europe and what is happening there.
I own two old Harleys, a 2005 xl1200c bought in 2021,and a 2012 Switchback bought in 2024. Before that, I've had many Japanese bikes and even British. My father had Harleys and an Indian at one time, he'd take me on his rooad trips on weekends and even to work at 4:00 am. So good memories prevail. At 72, I don't see myself buying anything that will compromise my monthly budget. The world is moving at a faster pace than I am, so, for now I'll stick to what i have and enjoy the rides minding my own business. Whatever the company does to keep the business going is theirs.
What’s your point? Those companies are forced by the S&P to earn high DEI scores. But there has to be push back or Harley can retire with Mr Potato Head.

Professional economist here. Unfortunately, these woke, and perhaps even worse, Proto woke companies have to feel some pain before they get it. They have to learn the lesson that you can't publicly look down on your own customers and expect them to be enthusiastic about giving up their hard earned money. I have not bought an Anheuser-Busch product, including the several craft beers they own, since they went down that road. I have not shopped at target. Not even once. Likewise, I donated ALL of my Harley merchandise to a local nonprofit thrift store, and my softail is up for sale. I will never buy a Harley Davidson product again as long as I live, and I was one of those customers that was good for a new bike about every five years. If there are lots of people such as myself who do this, the first victims will be the dealerships. Dealership economics is not primarily about selling motorcycles. It's about maintaining and repairing motorcycles, and selling parts for them. The classic distributor model. I will not be surprised if the distribution channels in the future for Harley Davidson become very similar to that of other motorcycles where you go into a "motorsports" store and look at motorcycles alongside golf carts. Anecdotally (because I have not measured or researched this), it seems to me each new Harley I buy has lower build quality than the model I had before, and even beyond any boycott motivation, I have been becoming more and more skeptical about Harley Davidson anyway. If a person spends $30,000 on a motorcycle, it really shouldn't have loose bolts, poorly connected battery terminals, etc. But unfortunately, this does seem to be the case, again it admittedly anecdotally, between myself and my friends new Harleys always seem to have something wrong with them on day one. Often this "something" is minor, more of an annoyance than a problem, but it does drive home my point of my assertion that quality control has declined at HD. Companies as they grow bloated and become full of hubris, often deserve exactly what they get. This is also true of societies. We are tolerating this crap, and as a political economy, as a society, as a nation, we are self-destructing because of it. This woke nonsense is nothing new. I've been dealing with it for 30 years in the academic world, but back then it was a tiny little corner and a social studies department. Nobody took them very serious. And then came the pandemic, which enabled and funded these lunatics, and not only do these Marxists and post-Marxists, demand we obey their dictates, they require we actually approve of it as well. Forget shame on them; shame on us.
I am that guy you were talking about. I have been shopping new Harleys for about a month after not having a bike for 20 years. I am now shopping new Indians. I have decided kinda what I want, and I am going down to the Indian dealership tomorrow.
I’m not going to buy another new bike and I’m not putting any Harley parts on the bike I have. Also not buying any Harley swag. I won’t give them any more money.
I got rid of my Harley-Davidson bikes and recovered most of my money. Woke just killed it for me, Harley-Davidson. I'm 68 and don't relate with the company anymore.
I've never owned a brand new Harley, I've always bought used. I look at it as supporting the person I bought my bike from. I've very rarely bought any parts from Harley in over 40 years, I buy aftermarket and work on my own stuff. I had a disagreement with a guy on the Chinese social media site telling me if people saw me riding my older Harley that people would ASSUME I'm woke. But here's my thoughts, I don't give a shit what anyone thinks about me, that's their problem. Some of these people on social media don't look at the people who would be hurt as long as it don't affect them. Do I like what HD is doing?, HELL NO, I think it's a slap in the face to the loyal customers, and I believe the CEO needs to be kicked to the curb. I'll hang on to my Harley and my apparel. As former employee of the now closed harley davidson of san Francisco. I saw this coming a year ago. When we had a sexual harassment video and the last 10 mins of the 60 min video was all about trans and the pronouns bs.
I'm not recertifying in the industry I work in and love because they want to teach D.E.I. That's how committed to fighting the woke mind virus I am. Buying a used Harley doesn't support Harley unless buying parts for them from Harley and there's lots of aftermarket to keep from doing that. But Harley needs to be taught a lesson and I don't care who it hurts, I'm hurting and you won't hear me crying about it. They can redeem themselves by abandoning the woke esg corporate model and firing the current CEO.
I sure hope Harley-Davidson comes out and apologizes, do the right thing and get going in the right direction again. This could either be the end of Harley or a re-birth.
This is actually the second time I’ve heard the story. But what’s interesting is it’s not the first time I’ve heard about the two species of Bigfoot, the red eyed ones being the more violent and aggressive ones. I have to wonder if that’s their nature or if for whatever reason they have just come to despise humanity. Great analysis! You’re right, it’s not like just changing your beer brand. Nothing really is going to change short term and I only say this because there sales are already down. I think most HD purest are just going to stick their heads in the sand and wait for it to pass. Further declines in sales would be hard to blame on HD’s DEI initiatives. Too many other factors going on right now.
Harley is already fighting their own used market trying to sell new motorcycles, this is just going to further this problem. A lot of people love the bikes but don't the love the corporation and their business practices. This is just gives people one more reason to buy a used bike privately and only purchase higher quality aftermarket parts. Totally bypassing giving any money to the company that supports corporate.
I'm one of "those guys." I have older bikes and work on them myself. I use a mix of factory and aftermarket parts. I go to the dealer every couple of years. Being old, I wasn’t planning to buy a new Harley anyway. Maybe something lighter (Triumph) down the road. I'm not going to burn my Harley shit, but I certainly don't need any more. I don't care about people's lifestyles, and if somebody wants to shell out the bucks for a new Harley, more power to them. Honestly, I think corporate is totally out of touch with their base. They are badly in need of another Willie G. I agree that these policies will be most detrimental to the front line workers. It seems like all Harley is doing at this point is sucking the last dollar from the old timers.
I am shocked that this just happened since it has been going on for over a year. I am keeping my bikes but I started boycotting a year ago. I use the aftermarket for everything and do not step into a dealer nor advertise for the MoCo anymore. The factory and dealers knew this was happening and could have stopped it.
I think it's just now starting to come out and get some traction, Harley has been working over time to keep it on the down low. A lot of the major news outlets are starting to run stories on it now, it's getting pretty big.
🛑🛑 In all my years in riding Harleys, I’ve never ever seen CVO bikes sitting on the sales floor for over a year. In all my years, I’ve never ever seen CVO bikes discounted, after no one would buy them in over a year. This is not a good sign for Harley, let alone them following the “woke agenda”. I believe the Company is in a “major death spiral”, and it’s only a matter of time till they hit the ground into a million pieces. I love Harley bikes, and the heritage of the company; however I believe the Harley Davidson Company are currently heading in the wrong direction. 💯
The thing is, Harley was already a kind of gay icon - the tassles, the guys with twirly moustaches, the leather singlets with colourful patches, backless chaps, the focus on style over function… I could go on. But the point is they didn’t need to do any alphabetty DEI nonsense. This is a UK perspective… and I fully appreciate it probably won’t go down all that well with the hardcore! For the record, my first bike was a Harley… but it was an AMF years 2-stroke 125 trail SXT, so I’m not sure it really counts!😂
Selling my bike accomplishes nothing since the the MOCO already got the money when it was originally purchased new. That said, I don’t want one cent of my money going to what that asshat CEO is pushing now and refuse to buy any more parts or accessories from any dealer or anyone else that sells Harley licensed products. Fortunately, the aftermarket has pretty much everything I need and that is where my money is going to go. Do I feel sorry for the people I know working at the dealership? Of course I do but not sorry enough to continue to fund the bullshit that Harley is pushing.
I only got my first H-D in 2009. A beautiful 100th anniversary FLHTCUI in Gunmetal Pearl. 8000 miles and I loved it when I saw it. I was graduating from a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. It took me about two weeks to really understand what was so special about a Harley-Davidson. What I came up with was this: The mission of Harley-Davidson was to give the customer the experience of the Golden Age of motorcycling in a modern enough package. I gegan to appreciate the depth of the thinking behind this. Where my RSV had plastic trim, the H-D was solid metal. The finish quality and materials used in the tour pak, fariings, and covers were so much better. Even things like the clamps for the exhaust were of superior quality. The switch gear had a superior feel to it and the electrial system didn't glitch in the rain. When I would detail her, she shone like a jewel. Sure there was modern features (2003 don't forget) like CD, CB, AM.FM, but they were tastefully integrated into the bike. It had a push-button fob for the security system to immobilze the bike. As I became part of the community, i watched those that were getting new bikes. There were issues with the secuiryt system, hydraulic clutch. At this time the service department started dropping not-so-subtle hints that it would be difficult to service my bike because it was OLD. But as I looked at the newer bikes, I really didn't like them as much as what I had! Why can't I just keep the bike I like? It looks good, runs well, and I'm fine with the features it has. The new bikes seemed to be getting simpler in its esthetics. They were removing trim pieces from the front fender, changing the iconic spot-lights and turn signals, replacing gauges and switches with menu-driven touch screens! This is not the golden age of motorcycling any more. I found that many young riders of sport bikes got tired of them after a few years and tickets and would graduate to a Harley-Davideon. If H-D moves their bikes on the spectrum in order to appeal to younger riders, when these riders want to get the Harley that they remember, it will no longer be that bike! After 135,000 miles on my 2003, I just got a very pristine; low-milage 2012 this past June. I purposely avoided the 2014 and newer for the reasons I outlined above. I couldn't be happier. Already put 2,500 miles on her and I didn't go anywhere in particular! I think H-D really doesn't understand its customers. I'm a HOG member and Road Captain with my local dealer. Yet there's no way for me to articulate to corporate how I and others feel about the company that makes the bikes we love! Cutting parts out after 10 years does not breed brand loyalty. They've lost their way, for sure.

I sold mine long ago. I saw the writing on the wall when you didn’t have to wait for the color you wanted. They were becoming less exclusive and more mainstream. I had my stock split twice and since then my Harleys have been free lol. I moved my money to other things. Peace out Harley.
I did a video about a video. I received a lot of hate I see nothing wrong with a little light shined on the company however. I love HD and the bikes and the culture as it used to be. I think they need to pull back on some things. Some of these things are just evil. I think buying used might be the answer for a while. Their major shareholders are Blackrock and Vanguard. They are at the forefront of what is going on. Blackrock is responsible for getting rid of the Mom and Pop dealers. They were the backbone of the of the brand.
I got overwhelmed with comments about what was going on, I honestly didn't want to believe it myself. Like you said running the mom and pop dealers out, I think that's where we lost company as a whole for what it stood for.
I have read that many large corporations have "gone woke" to appease their major shareholder - Blackrock. I first noticed it with Disney since making money losing movies over and over would usually depress revenues and the stock price. I don't believe HD (HOG) can persist with being woke for as long as Disney. They are just too small. Polaris (Indian brand home) is much larger than HD. They could likely persist longer than HD at pissing off their buyers. Beware of leaping to Indian only to see Polaris going woke in a year or two.
If I would’ve realized we had a non-American woke CEO running the show I would’ve never bought my low rider ST. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new bagger but now I’m gonna go get the BMW GS 1300 instead. As much as I love the Lowrider, I will be selling it as I don’t want their logo and name between my legs when I ride. Go woke go broke. Even if they replace the CEO at this point, the damage is done they’ve lost my trust.
I figured that out in November 2023, and picked up a new 2023 1250 GS. Looking at a 1250 RT, the dealership didn't accept Harleys for trade in. This was back in June, 2024. HD's were already being shunned.
This is happening here in MN. Was up at Apols in Alexandria, MN went there to see Adam Sandoval's Convoy, and the dealer had a table for transitioning! I hope this slaps the corporation in the face and hits them hard for listening to the woke Blackrock investors
I live 4 miles from my HD dealer, and the next option is the next town over, and that's about 25 miles away. I have an older bike and I work on it myself. My friends help me, and I help them, but we can't make parts, so evey time the bike breaks what are you going to do? Get on S&S's website and order the part and wait a week for it to get to you. In the mean time the crew has gone on down the road. I'm so sick of all this stupid crap. I'm already mad at Harley for pricing their bikes as high as some homes, and now this.
Had my bike for a while. Won't be getting rid of it. But will never spend another dime at a dealer. All the clothes are made in China. Service is lousy.
I have been riding Harley-Davidson since 1970. I'm not changing anything. I'm not getting rid of my 49 Pan, my 57 Servi-car, or my 68 Sportster. I'm going to keep my recent twin cam that I picked up from a private seller. The only time I go to the dealer is once a month to support a local CMA church group. The only non Harley I own is a Ural Gear-Up for the occasional days that my old bones can't handle two wheels. I've seen the AMF years when they took over Harley in 1969 and saved the company, although almost destroying it with crappy quality control. I saw it in 1981 when the company was bought back. I saw when the dealers started losing their franchises because they wouldn't go along with corporate and build their clothing shops and all the other bs. He'll either survive or they won't my participation won't make a difference. I haven't bought anything from my actual franchise Harley dealer and I don't know how many years.
Even Indian motorcycles went woke. They were removing the Indian head dress logos from their bikes. I’m very disappointed with Harley Davidson and I currently have 3. I’m going to keep them as my latest bike is a 2010.
If Harley fails, it’s gonna be OK guys. To me this is what needs to happen to make our country a better place stand up for something and stop buying Harley products and motorcycles from the Harley dealers most of them are corporate owned anyway.

An iconic American brand, Harley-Davidson, should NEVER have hired a chief executive that is NOT American. The essence of H-D's American iron appeal is possibly lost forever. What has been done to H-D is quite a shame and as a guy with two of them currently, and great memories of the previous half dozen, I swear I will not buy another until the board and the CEO are Americans, making motorcycles Americans want and can afford to buy. I am not waiting with abated breath...so long, H-D. It was a great run. You're done.

I've never been happy with the general tone of Harley dealerships, which is basically "Buy one of our overpriced bikes or get out.", but supporting this so-called "Equality Act" and DEI stuff is too much. I said I would never own a Harley one time and found a locally owned dealer, which surprise they are now closed since they were private and not corporate investment company owned. This might be the straw that runs out the rest of the ma and pa dealers.

I've already said i'm never buying a new Harley Davidson again. So i'll just stick with my Sportster and my Softail Twin Cam and what Harley is to *me*. A part of the "spirit of the biker" if you will, is not being labeled, being rebellious and free. So we ride older Harleys as an expression of who we are inside, not who sits at the top of a corporation that makes a machine.
That being said, I would not openly support Harley Davidson as a company for those decisions. But I would defend my choosing to ride one, and why.

CF Moto NK450 is a naked sport bike, and there are CFs that can be turned into SuperMotos. HDs 500 are definitely cruisers, but might not be available in North America yet..

I bought a HD last year. Had I known that the Company had gone WOKE I would NOT have bought a HD. No chance.
This happened --3yrs ago I went into my local H-D dealership, chose a model they did`nt actually have in stock, put down a $2000.00 deposit and waited for the bike to arrive. 2mnths later I was feeling very sick, went to the doctor, after tests and ECG, discovered I`d had a heart attack, was booked in for surgery. Contacted the bike shop talked to the manager and asked for my deposit back, he got angry and said the policy was to keep the deposit. WTF??. After some to and fro, he said ok we`ll only keep $500, WTF??, long story short-I agreed just to keep the peace. So now after recovering from quadruple bypass surgery I`m riding my second KTM. F H-D, never again will I give them a dime.

From what I've been able to find out, that foreign (he isn't even a U.S. citizen) CEO was hired specifically to destroy H-D. And he's doing a great job of that. The real owners of H-D, namely Blackrock and Vanguard, want it gone. Its existence does not fit in with the WEF plans.

As an older rider, Im done supporting them. My wife has a bike, I have 2. So 3 Harleys in the stable. I will only support aftermarket vendors. Never used the dealership for labor related jobs. If I sell any of my current bikes it will not be for another Harley.

I own two old Harleys, a 2005 xl1200c bought in 2021,and a 2012 Switchback bought in 2024. Before that, I've had many Japanese bikes and even British. My father had Harleys and an Indian at one time, he'd take me on his rooad trips on weekends and even to work at 4:00 am. So good memories prevail.
At 72, I don't see myself buying anything that will compromise my monthly budget.
The world is moving at a faster pace than I am, so, for now I'll stick to what i have and enjoy the rides minding my own business.

Professional economist here. Unfortunately, these woke, and perhaps even worse, Proto woke companies have to feel some pain before they get it. They have to learn the lesson that you can't publicly look down on your own customers and expect them to be enthusiastic about giving up their hard earned money.
I have not bought an Anheuser-Busch product, including the several craft beers they own, since they went down that road.
I have not shopped at target. Not even once.
Likewise, I donated ALL of my Harley merchandise to a local nonprofit thrift store, and my softail is up for sale. I will never buy a Harley Davidson product again as long as I live, and I was one of those customers that was good for a new bike about every five years.
If there are lots of people such as myself who do this, the first victims will be the dealerships. Dealership economics is not primarily about selling motorcycles. It's about maintaining and repairing motorcycles, and selling parts for them. The classic distributor model.
I will not be surprised if the distribution channels in the future for Harley Davidson become very similar to that of other motorcycles where you go into a "motorsports" store and look at motorcycles alongside golf carts.
Anecdotally (because I have not measured or researched this), it seems to me each new Harley I buy has lower build quality than the model I had before, and even beyond any boycott motivation, I have been becoming more and more skeptical about Harley Davidson anyway. If a person spends $30,000 on a motorcycle, it really shouldn't have loose bolts, poorly connected battery terminals, etc. But unfortunately, this does seem to be the case, again it admittedly anecdotally, between myself and my friends new Harleys always seem to have something wrong with them on day one. Often this "something" is minor, more of an annoyance than a problem, but it does drive home my point of my assertion that quality control has declined at HD.
Companies as they grow bloated and become full of hubris, often deserve exactly what they get.
This is also true of societies. We are tolerating this crap, and as a political economy, as a society, as a nation, we are self-destructing because of it.
This woke nonsense is nothing new. I've been dealing with it for 30 years in the academic world, but back then it was a tiny little corner and a social studies department. Nobody took them very serious.
And then came the pandemic, which enabled and funded these lunatics, and not only do these Marxists and post-Marxists, demand we obey their dictates, they require we actually approve of it as well.

I've never owned a brand new Harley, I've always bought used. I look at it as supporting the person I bought my bike from. I've very rarely bought any parts from Harley in over 40 years, I buy aftermarket and work on my own stuff. I had a disagreement with a guy on the Chinese social media site telling me if people saw me riding my older Harley that people would ASSUME I'm woke. But here's my thoughts, I don't give a shit what anyone thinks about me, that's their problem. Some of these people on social media don't look at the people who would be hurt as long as it don't affect them. Do I like what HD is doing?, HELL NO, I think it's a slap in the face to the loyal customers, and I believe the CEO needs to be kicked to the curb. I'll hang on to my Harley and my apparel. Another excellent video brother.

As former employee of the now closed harley davidson of san Francisco. I saw this coming a year ago. When we had a sexual harassment video and the last 10 mins of the 60 min video was all about trans and the pronouns bs.
I'm not recertifying in the industry I work in and love because they want to teach D.E.I. That's how committed to fighting the woke mind virus I am. Buying a used Harley doesn't support Harley unless buying parts for them from Harley and there's lots of aftermarket to keep from doing that. But Harley needs to be taught a lesson and I don't care who it hurts, I'm hurting and you won't hear me crying about it. They can redeem themselves by abandoning the woke esg corporate model and firing the current CEO.
I sure hope Harley-Davidson comes out and apologizes, do the right thing and get going in the right direction again. This could either be the end of Harley or a re-birth.
This is actually the second time I’ve heard the story. But what’s interesting is it’s not the first time I’ve heard about the two species of Bigfoot, the red eyed ones being the more violent and aggressive ones. I have to wonder if that’s their nature or if for whatever reason they have just come to despise humanity. Nothing really is going to change short term and I only say this because there sales are already down. I think most HD purest are just going to stick their heads in the sand and wait for it to pass.
Further declines in sales would be hard to blame on HD’s DEI initiatives. Too many other factors going on right now.
Harley is already fighting their own used market trying to sell new motorcycles, this is just going to further this problem. A lot of people love the bikes but don't the love the corporation and their business practices. This is just gives people one more reason to buy a used bike privately and only purchase higher quality aftermarket parts. Totally bypassing giving any money to the company that supports corporate.
I'm one of "those guys." I have older bikes and work on them myself. I use a mix of factory and aftermarket parts. I go to the dealer every couple of years. Being old, I wasn’t planning to buy a new Harley anyway. Maybe something lighter (Triumph) down the road. I'm not going to burn my Harley shit, but I certainly don't need any more. I don't care about people's lifestyles, and if somebody wants to shell out the bucks for a new Harley, more power to them. Honestly, I think corporate is totally out of touch with their base. They are badly in need of another Willie G. I agree that these policies will be most detrimental to the front line workers. It seems like all Harley is doing at this point is sucking the last dollar from the old timers.

I am shocked that this just happened since it has been going on for over a year. I am keeping my bikes but I started boycotting a year ago. I use the aftermarket for everything and do not step into a dealer nor advertise for the MoCo anymore. The factory and dealers knew this was happening and could have stopped it.
I think it's just now starting to come out and get some traction, Harley has been working over time to keep it on the down low. A lot of the major news outlets are starting to run stories on it now, it's getting pretty big.

The thing is, Harley was already a kind of gay icon - the tassles, the guys with twirly moustaches, the leather singlets with colourful patches, backless chaps, the focus on style over function… I could go on. But the point is they didn’t need to do any alphabetty DEI nonsense. This is a UK perspective… and I fully appreciate it probably won’t go down all that well with the hardcore! For the record, my first bike was a Harley… but it was an AMF years 2-stroke 125 trail SXT, so I’m not sure it really counts!😂
Selling my bike accomplishes nothing since the the MOCO already got the money when it was originally purchased new.
That said, I don’t want one cent of my money going to what that asshat CEO is pushing now and refuse to buy any more parts or accessories from any dealer or anyone else that sells Harley licensed products.
Fortunately, the aftermarket has pretty much everything I need and that is where my money is going to go.
Do I feel sorry for the people I know working at the dealership? Of course I do but not sorry enough to continue to fund the bullshit that Harley is pushing.

I only got my first H-D in 2009. A beautiful 100th anniversary FLHTCUI in Gunmetal Pearl. 8000 miles and I loved it when I saw it. I was graduating from a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. It took me about two weeks to really understand what was so special about a Harley-Davidson. What I came up with was this: The mission of Harley-Davidson was to give the customer the experience of the Golden Age of motorcycling in a modern enough package. I gegan to appreciate the depth of the thinking behind this. Where my RSV had plastic trim, the H-D was solid metal. The finish quality and materials used in the tour pak, fariings, and covers were so much better. Even things like the clamps for the exhaust were of superior quality. The switch gear had a superior feel to it and the electrial system didn't glitch in the rain. When I would detail her, she shone like a jewel. Sure there was modern features (2003 don't forget) like CD, CB, AM.FM, but they were tastefully integrated into the bike. It had a push-button fob for the security system to immobilze the bike.
As I became part of the community, i watched those that were getting new bikes. There were issues with the secuiryt system, hydraulic clutch. At this time the service department started dropping not-so-subtle hints that it would be difficult to service my bike because it was OLD. But as I looked at the newer bikes, I really didn't like them as much as what I had! Why can't I just keep the bike I like? It looks good, runs well, and I'm fine with the features it has. The new bikes seemed to be getting simpler in its esthetics. They were removing trim pieces from the front fender, changing the iconic spot-lights and turn signals, replacing gauges and switches with menu-driven touch screens! This is not the golden age of motorcycling any more.
I found that many young riders of sport bikes got tired of them after a few years and tickets and would graduate to a Harley-Davideon. If H-D moves their bikes on the spectrum in order to appeal to younger riders, when these riders want to get the Harley that they remember, it will no longer be that bike!
After 135,000 miles on my 2003, I just got a very pristine; low-milage 2012 this past June. I purposely avoided the 2014 and newer for the reasons I outlined above. I couldn't be happier. Already put 2,500 miles on her and I didn't go anywhere in particular!
I think H-D really doesn't understand its customers. I'm a HOG member and Road Captain with my local dealer. Yet there's no way for me to articulate to corporate how I and others feel about the company that makes the bikes we love! Cutting parts out after 10 years does not breed brand loyalty. They've lost their way, for sure.

I sold mine long ago. I saw the writing on the wall when you didn’t have to wait for the color you wanted. They were becoming less exclusive and more mainstream. I had my stock split twice and since then my Harleys have been free lol. I moved my money to other things. Peace out Harley.

I did a video about a video. I received a lot of hate I see nothing wrong with a little light shined on the company however. I love HD and the bikes and the culture as it used to be. I think they need to pull back on some things. Some of these things are just evil. I think buying used might be the answer for a while. Their major shareholders are Blackrock and Vanguard. They are at the forefront of what is going on. Blackrock is responsible for getting rid of the Mom and Pop dealers. They were the backbone of the of the brand.
I got overwhelmed with comments about what was going on, I honestly didn't want to believe it myself. Like you said running the mom and pop dealers out, I think that's where we lost company as a whole for what it stood for.

I have read that many large corporations have "gone woke" to appease their major shareholder - Blackrock. I first noticed it with Disney since making money losing movies over and over would usually depress revenues and the stock price. I don't believe HD (HOG) can persist with being woke for as long as Disney. They are just too small. Polaris (Indian brand home) is much larger than HD. They could likely persist longer than HD at pissing off their buyers. Beware of leaping to Indian only to see Polaris going woke in a year or two.

If I would’ve realized we had a non-American woke CEO running the show I would’ve never bought my low rider ST. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new bagger but now I’m gonna go get the BMW GS 1300 instead. As much as I love the Lowrider, I will be selling it as I don’t want their logo and name between my legs when I ride. Go woke go broke. Even if they replace the CEO at this point, the damage is done they’ve lost my trust.
Bmw is the same as far as I've heard.
I figured that out in November 2023, and picked up a new 2023 1250 GS. Looking at a 1250 RT, the dealership didn't accept Harleys for trade in. This was back in June, 2024. HD's were already being shunned.
This is happening here in MN. Was up at Apols in Alexandria, MN went there to see Adam Sandoval's Convoy, and the dealer had a table for transitioning! I hope this slaps the corporation in the face and hits them hard for listening to the woke Blackrock investors

I live 4 miles from my HD dealer, and the next option is the next town over, and that's about 25 miles away. I have an older bike and I work on it myself.
My friends help me, and I help them, but we can't make parts, so evey time the bike breaks what are you going to do? Get on S&S's website and order the part and wait a week for it to get to you.
In the mean time the crew has gone on down the road. I'm so sick of all this stupid crap. I'm already mad at Harley for pricing their bikes as high as some homes, and now this.
Had my bike for a while. Won't be getting rid of it. But will never spend another dime at a dealer. All the clothes are made in China. Service is lousy.

I have been riding Harley-Davidson since 1970. I'm not changing anything. I'm not getting rid of my 49 Pan, my 57 Servi-car, or my 68 Sportster. I'm going to keep my recent twin cam that I picked up from a private seller. The only time I go to the dealer is once a month to support a local CMA church group. The only non Harley I own is a Ural Gear-Up for the occasional days that my old bones can't handle two wheels. I've seen the AMF years when they took over Harley in 1969 and saved the company, although almost destroying it with crappy quality control. I saw it in 1981 when the company was bought back. I saw when the dealers started losing their franchises because they wouldn't go along with corporate and build their clothing shops and all the other bs. He'll either survive or they won't my participation won't make a difference. I haven't bought anything from my actual franchise Harley dealer and I don't know how many years.
Even Indian motorcycles went woke. They were removing the Indian head dress logos from their bikes. I’m very disappointed with Harley Davidson and I currently have 3. I’m going to keep them as my latest bike is a 2010.
If Harley fails, it’s gonna be OK guys. To me this is what needs to happen to make our country a better place stand up for something and stop buying Harley products and motorcycles from the Harley dealers most of them are corporate owned anyway.

H-D was using Yokohama tyres, Keihin carbs, Showa front suspension, & Nippon Seiki gauges back in the 70's. If you take the offshore parts of your H-D you can't fuggin' ride it!. So what's with the American icon shite?.

An iconic American brand, Harley-Davidson, should NEVER have hired a chief executive that is NOT American. The essence of H-D's American iron appeal is possibly lost forever. What has been done to H-D is quite a shame and as a guy with two of them currently, and great memories of the previous half dozen, I swear I will not buy another until the board and the CEO are Americans, making motorcycles Americans want and can afford to buy. I am not waiting with abated breath...so long, H-D. It was a great run. You're done.

I said I would never own a Harley one time and found a locally owned dealer, which surprise they are now closed since they were private and not corporate investment company owned. This might be the straw that runs out the rest of the ma and pa dealers.
