Oh, first to comment.
He has been voted 5 times in a row as "Best Overall Guitarist" in "Guitar Player" magazine. After that he was put into "Gallery Of Greats" in that magazine.
If you want to hear his acoustic guitar playing, please search for "Northern Lights" by Dixie Dregs or with Manuel Barrueco who plays a nylon string guitar on that version.
Also there is a live Tv - performance of "Up In The Air" with Rick Emmett of Triumph and solo live performance of "Northern Lights" by Morse himself.
Been a fan of Morse for more than 40 years now. The man is a true musical giant as his work with the Dregs, Kansas, Deep Purple, his own band and a bunch of other collaborations prove.
Not only one of top guitarist walking earth today …his compositions are brilliant…mega albums worth…listening and seeing them since 1976
I've been watching and listening to Steve Morse since he played my college homecoming in 1979-80 with the Dixie Dregs. I've seen him in person a few times since. He never ceases to amaze.... Many times guitarist of the year by Guitar Magazine. Very humble. Also, he is a commercial pilot. That's Dave Larue on bass, I believe; he's a monster, too.

He's been with Deep Purple for over 20 years when Blackmore left. The band said, when he joined it was like the sun came out again. And definitely lit a fire under them. You've gotta check out Ted the Mechanic, from their first album with him. Whata guy. Peace
High Tension Wires is one of my all time favorite albums
Harri the album this song is from is called High Tension Wires. It's one of the best guitar instrumental albums i've ever heard. Listen to it , you will not be disappointed.
There's even a few parts in here that sound like classical music. Seen him play live a few times in smaller settings. Most guitarists with a dozen studio overdubs couldn't sound this amazing.
Steve is a great, awesome player. Unfortunately, today, he has some medical conditions that prevent him from playing like this. The Dixie Dregs were great, I love em. i got to see them play in Jacksonville Florida at a show at the Jacksonville University. It was excellent. It was in their Night Of The Living Dregs tour.
Steve is most definitely a jazz rock fusion player.
Jammin, I caught Steve with Deep Purple 10 or so yrs ago. I was not disappointed.
To make it more impressive, I saw him at a clinic where he played this time at that speed and explained the music theory of the composition as he played.
I know everyone will have their own opinions but in my mind there have always been 3 players of similar caliber, different styles and techniques but all extremely skilled, UNIQUE and INTERESTING, and play a lot of experimental, jazz, fusion. Steve Morse, Jeff Beck and Al Di Meola

Jazz Rock works. Morse covers a lot of ground with his music. Country Jazz Classical Rock elements throughout his catalog over the last fifty years

This is actually not his best live performance of this tune. It's kind of poor by his standards, if I'm being honest.
