You're a life saver! Had to drive this truck at night with the back door ajar with a super long ladder hanging out, and until I saw this video I could not for the life of me figure out how to get that light off so I could actually see the road
Glad it helped
Your a f@#king legend mate. Just watched this while I was camping cause my real lights have been shitting me to tears. Thanks a heaps👍
Thank for that info. 🎉 this has been such a headache 🤕. Not anymore 😊
Worked perfectly! Thank you!
Thanks so much for this lifesaver of a video!
You made a useful video bro. Thanks!!!
You’re a great speaker, good job and good luck!!!
This video was a life saver, thank you so much
I am glad I could help
Great video thanks so much!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I'm moving to another house and had to have the doors open to load and unload boxes and I was concerned the light was gonna kill my battery. I liked and subscribed to your channel.
I am so glad it helped. Make sure to watch how to use the door handle to reset the part so you can close the door
@@Gonewithjon Unfortunately, even though I did make sure to watch the part about how to use the door handle to reset the part so I could close the door, it didn't work and my latch won't open now. It's my fault though, because I thought that this advice would work for my Ford Econoline 150 van even though your van is a Ford Transit van, and it turns out that the wiring and latches are not the same. Oh well, thanks anyway. Time to go find me another video about Ford Econoline latches, but I haven't been able to find any. I still like your video by the way. Have a good one.
@@techcontinuum7421 unlock the door. Use a screwdriver and carefully pull the latch the opposite way you pushed it . Mine would open back up like this also
Thank you so much that cargo lights been driving me crazy
I used to do this all the time when i did construction and had an F250 so i could listen to the stereo at lunch with the door open and not hear the key in the ignition chime.
Been working on my van this last week and flattened the battery by having the back doors open. Was wondering how to get over this and this is by far the simplest method. Stoked I found your video. Can't wait to try it later, hopefully it works. Thanks from the UK dude 🤙🏻
Thank you so much. I hope it helps. Don't forget to undo it before you close the door. I have never had an issue but better to be safe
You all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Julius Tate instablaster :)
@Kristopher Ryland I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Kristopher Ryland it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
Absolutely brilliant, thank you!! Subscribing just for this. ( :
Thanks Cat. Love the love. Don't forget to undo it before shutting the door. I have forgotten a few times but thankfully it never broke anything.
Thank you very much 👌👍
Try this everyone, open rear door so lights come on. Then open drivers door and close it, but not tight, leave it ajar. Your lights all of them will time out.. note this will not work on passenger door must use drivers door.
well done from London
Well done that man
real curious what that switch looks like. my transit lights stay on for an hour or more every night. its really annoying
You saved my life with this one buddy lol
I have a sliding side door. Anyone know if this will work on that?
Thank you Sir!
Thank you !!!!
Mega…. Just done it cheers
Thank you sir helped me on my work van
Thank you. Pay attention to how to close the door
Thanks
For a Ford Transit, at least 2018,2019+, there’s a black rectangular panel inside the back
door with a button and all you do is tap it and they’re off!
You the man. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!!!
Or;
go to the driver seat.
Hold down the - and + buttons on the light switch panel while turning the key to "on" (not starting, just turning on the radio and windows etc.)
I'd heard of this before but couldn't get it to work.
I actually was just fiddling with stuff when I was on the phone and did this the right way.
Now my lights turn off after about 10 seconds.
No messing around with locks or cutting anything.
PS It might be turning the power off while holding the buttons down. Not exactly sure. But happy my lights don't stay on for 30 minutes!
Thank you
I have a Ford Transit 250, and the switch for my cargo lights is just inside the rear door, driver's side - on the driver's side wall right beside the door.
Thanks brother I was worried about the light just get my 2020 ford transt today rally fun thanks please tell las a cool thing what you saw
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽you smart guy! Thank you for using your brains for us less brainy people.
Thank you.
You said that you found a wire that goes to the door lock , i think you can put a switch on that wire to break the circuit when you want the lights out.
Good video , thanks
I was wandering where to find that wire
Thumbs up
Dude-THANK YOU!
You know it
Legend!
Nice one bro 👌
Thank you. Don't forget to push the latch back. I have slammed mine a few times. Haven't broken it yet
There is a cargo light switch installed by the factory on the left rear door jamb, it' on a black plastic panel on my 2019 Ford Transit 250. Just push the switch!
Hope this helps
It's on later models but not on the 2015 sadly
THANK YOU!!! We did the hack first (which DID work perfectly, thanks Jon.) But then I happened to scroll down and see your comment. We have a newer model and so do have that switch. WHY ON EARTH they don't mention that switch in the owners manual must be one of life's great mysteries. I even called the dealership and they didn't know about it either. Just your comment saved us! 🙂
I mean, im only an electrician and by far NOT a mech, but dud i miss "the fix"? I heard you say, "theirs a wire that goes to the latch" part, but what was the fix?
So you didn't watch the whole video I made to teach you but you want me to explain it so you don't have to watch the video? No
@@Gonewithjon absolutely not. I watched until the video stopped. I mean, if it magically came back on once the next video came on, then I'm in the wrong ...
My 19 has a button to shut off the lights at the back driver side corner panel.
WARNING: I did this and had a terrible time getting the latch back in its proper position. Apparently the emergency exit latch on the passenger version does NOT do this for you when you pull it. In the end, a loop of zip tie and a screwdriver helped me restore it, but I won’t be doing that again.
I manage to do it easily by pressing the latch button, then using my key in the mechanism in the opposite direction that was used to turn the lights off. I have 2018 Ford Transit.
@@Thor_Underdunk_Caballerial I never had an issue. The mechanism is not complex
Works great.
Thank you so much bud.

So disapoointed did not work for me (125 t300). Question - want to use as camper with doors open. Will removing all light bulbs resolve issue? Don't need them and front cabin ones at least do have switches
What year is your van
@@Gonewithjon 2012
@@Gonewithjon 2012 9seat minibus
@@Gonewithjon back cab had 8 lights so drains pretty quick
Genius🎉🎉🎉🙌🏾
Ye legend 👍
So I guess my issues isn't the same I shut doors hit lock and the lights are still on but only in the back the sensor must be dead for me
Did you do the same for the back doors sensor?
Why won't ford just make a van that controlls the lights better!!
Turn off interior light in the cab. They're all controlled from that switch on my 2012 transit connect
i love you
Thank man
If you come yo Spain ill pay you a beer or 15
Thank you for watching. It doesn’t look like you are subscribed yet. I hope you will consider it to help our cause.
It may be a good idea if you are working alone but what about my dummy employee he would slam that door without free the latch than guess what is gonna happen 😂
We are camping in our ford transit 350 2019 and I am gonna try this !! I hope it works!!
Good luck dear. Don't forget to reset the latch before you close the door
Hi there, I tried this today and it worked !! However the internal light came back on after a few mins…
Did you hit the lock or unlock button on accident? Never heard of this before
@@Gonewithjon I don’t think I did but I can’t be sure.! I’ll try again tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for your reply…
You don't need to do this. On the driver side back door, inside there is a black rubber strip with a soft button. Press it. Lights go off. You can do this from inside the vehicle, or by opening back door and reaching to press the button.
Please send a photograph
@@mac3rgj i just found out Only the 2018 VANS have that switch. it is inside rear drivers door. it is a soft button and turns off interior lights. sorry, i thought it was in all transits
Thank you John great information for my 2005. They go off just like magic.
I am so glad I was able to help.
I have a 2019 and it has the switch. But every single time i get in the car the lights stay on AND I have to go to the back and physically turn them off! It is THE worst design AND a pain in the ass. Wish i had known about this before purchase because i am infirm it is a complete deal breaker. I cannot believe that Ford would be so stupid in their design. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Just flip the high beam lever twice. Poof there off
Wow my lights are the switch
This info helped us last night with our improvised camper. After a few beers in total darkness. In Australia the Ford transit has a sliding door on the side and clam shell doors are at the back. This works from the back doors. Thanks 🙏🏻
Nice. So glad to help
Great hack!!!
Thanks man. I had wanted to do this for a long time
I can see how this will help a lot of people working with any van, not just the transit.
For the people who said they couldn't get the latch to go back to its normal place you obviously didn't watch the video past where I said wait because I clearly explain you use the door handle as if you're opening the door from the inside to get the latch back to normal...
Can’t you just take out the bulb?

I hate Ford so much for this kind of crap. After all these years they can't make a simple vehicle that contractors can use. Our business came with a Ford but you can guarantee the minute we can replace it we will go with any other brand.
