Great video! Just installed the brake control module in my 2020 4wd F250 STX. I was able to get the module in without removing the bottom most 7mils. Just started putting it in from the right side (closest to the radio) - flexed enough to easily slide right in without any problem. Total install took me maybe five minutes to disassemble, install, and reinstall. Time to program. Easy peasy job - thanks again for the great video!
Have the same one in my 2011 platinum. Don’t have a trailer with electric brakes. My largest trailer has hydraulic surge brakes, so I’ve never used the controller.
I have a 2015 Ford F-150 lariat with a trailer brake controller already installed but it has failed and now I need to swap it out for a new one. Do I have to program the new controller?
Are standard cabs making a comeback, or is that all that's left on the lots now. I've seen 4 recently (and now this one) after not seeing one for probably 3 years.
Regular cabs have always been popular with contractors, landscapers, fleets, etc. They have a slightly higher payload and towing capacity than a 4 door, shorter wheelbase with a better turning radius for snow plowing or tight maneuvering, and they’re a little less expensive than a 4 door. Only reason to buy a 4 door work truck is if you need to haul a crew around everyday.
im having a problem on a xl 150 where i programmed it with ids and now the truck shows no trailer just randomly while driving... and does it everytime you crank it up any advice?
Maybe something's wrong with the connection at the back of the truck I mean I really don't know what to be honest with you hopefully you don't have anything programmed as a trailer name in your settings and it thinks that you're trying to tell it something hooked up

Do I have to activate something else to get the information on the screen?
So what does your dealership charge for the install? Would like to have one in my F150, just trying to decide if I want to do it myself or just have my local dealer do it.

Correction, took my truck in for an oil change, had them check to see if my truck was wired for a controller, which it was. Dealer wants 242 bucks for the part and 130 bucks to put it in !! Nope, not in a million years.
Did anything change with 2022 super duties? My 2017 went exactly as planned. I took my 2022 f350 to the dealer and they are saying they need to run power wires, add a fuse...? Feels like they are taking me for a ride
Have not done a 22 I wouldn't think there would be anything like running wires and stuff like that because the truck pretty much comes ready to be plugged into a brake controller
@Ford Boss Me I picked the truck up last night. The harness, plug, everything was there just like my 2017 250. Installation 100% the same. The dealer plugged in and went to turn on the module but said there was no power to the module. They added a wire w/fuse up where a lot of the harnesses come through the firewall. Maybe a foot of wire. I was worried they were fiahing wire and patching in up in the dash at the back of the module. They showed me what they ran where. One tech said he thinks that's how they are shipping now and another thought it was a factory mess up. They charged me pretty much what I paid a couple years ago plus a few bucks for the fusible link. They definitely didn't do the extra work to line their pockets.

It's like five bucks or 10 bucks for the year or $50 for Lifetime and then you buy their $40 Interlink connector and you could do most of the things I can do on IDs
The software is free or at least it used to be. You have to renew your subscription every couple of months but all you do is send an email. As Rich stated the only thing you need is a laptop and Interface cable.
I drive a 2010 F150. I installed a Trailer Brake Controller and paid the Dealer to activate it but it always says Trailer disconnected even though my landscaping trailers hooked up. Got any advice ?
@@FordBossMe On the OD-3 downshift, thw trans will" flare" in rpm between the shift and then bump/slam into gear. It will flare as little as a hundred rpm but if im on the highway and downshift to pull a hill it will go as high as 4k+. Im sure its not a bad c.o.p and positive its not slipping.

Mine just pop out an ash tray and pop in the trailer brake controller. Not so difficult

The radio piece in a 2022 is 2 piece but don't need to take bottom one off. Also only one screw on bottom trim driver side. Pass pops in

Those are notorious for breaking snap rings. I think u lose OD or 3rd. EZ repair.
