This game looks interesting to say the least, but not gonna say that im not a little dissapointed that they put $120 worth of DLC into Valhalla without mention of Basim even after the plot twist.
well tbf mirage was actually intended to be a dlc for valhalla, but because of how much the story was growing they decided to make it a game on its own
Definitely excited, but very concerned they’re going to ruin that amazing character. I already don’t like how they’re using the “middle eastern street thief” trope for him instead of something else. He talked about his father being an architect who was assassinated and other things that could’ve been really interesting, but they kinda seem to have forgotten about that. They also really need to show his descent into madness and show how he embraces his past self as Loki. If that’s not in Mirage and they just focus on the Hidden Ones side of him then that’s a major missed opportunity. I loved Basim in Valhalla, but it is gonna be a little weird playing as one of Eivor’s main bad guys. Basim was someone that Eivor grew close to before he betrayed her, so I still feel that betrayal. It’ll be like playing the Odin arcs of Valhalla for me, cause even though Eivor is Odin essentially, the parts that take place in Odin’s first life are where we see the dark side of what Eivor could become should she embrace herself as Odin like Basim did as Loki. Still really excited, but I don’t want them to ruin Valhalla or just make a knock-off of Prince of Persia with Basim being a parkour Middle Eastern street thief.
I mean, who else but a poor thief would fall in with the assassins? Plus that gives him a background in parkour already as we see in the trailer. And it's supposed to be a callback to the first AC, which was originally a Prince of Persia game in development, so they definitely did all of this intentionally.
I get that, but it still ain’t what I wanted. I wanted an intellectual Basim who gets into some trouble and joins the Hidden Ones. But he’s also fast at learning parkour when he gets there in his life. Arbaaz Mir and Yusuf Tazim are two already existing AC characters with the SAME MIDDLE EASTERN THIEF BACKSTORY. I don’t need Basim to be the third in that group. Fourth if you also count the Prince of Persia. There’s more to the Middle East than street thieves is all I’m saying.
