Apple seeds do in fact contain cyanide, BUT, you'd need to eat a couple hundred for them to affect you, especially since most pass through the system unbroken. That said, they may cause some mild digestive issues with small pets if eaten in significant numbers.

That number is based on faulty math, it'd actually take a couple hundred *thousand* seeds to kill you. This is because the seeds don't actually contain cyanide, they contain a chemical that will break down into cyanide (among other things) as you digest it, but that chemical only contains a small percentage of cyanide in it. The "couple hundred" calculation was based on the weight of the chemical in the apple, not the amount of cyanide it would dissolve into.
Cheers to the unsung heroes who ate poison once upon a time to find out the hard way what is edible. Today we know to eat carrots but not hemlock. Someone died to give us that basic knowledge!

Literally just gave my dog hydrogen peroxide the other day to induce vomiting because he ate a whole raw pizza dough that was rising on the counter. If they eat it raw it keeps rising and turns to alcohol in their stomach and they can get alcohol poisoning 😮
