    I have the same wheel. It's a great beginner wheel. I am using it to throw with my black clay so I can keep my Brent for B-mix and lighter colored clays.

    Great review ! I am a beginner and starting to learn to throw for my job and I've been enjoying it. It's fun to see your progress, my pieces are quickly getting more centered and symmetrical. I want to get a beginner's wheel for Christmas and I enjoyed your review. You definitely helped give me more confidence in this brand !!!

    I bought this wheel and I've been using it about 4 weeks. Love it!

    I bought Vevor wheel (made in China) for around 120€, looks like this one. I am beginner and asked my mentor to try it. Wheel went a bit crooked if pressed too hard, as sometimes you have to fight clay. Legs are not adjustable. And pedal is cheap plastic so if you want to stop immediately it continues to slowly spin.
    Other than that it seems fine for starting to throw.
    Metal plate has engraved circular shapes which help with centering but also a bit harsh on skin of the hands.

    Thanks for your review, I am a sculptor but have wanted to try working on the wheel - I think you have convinced me to try one of these!

    I just bought the 11 inch version and bought a Mac system for it. Putting in the bat pins was a little tricky.

    Your video 9 mo. Ago of the Vevor wheel. I have a Vevor wheel (not the touch screen) my son bought me for Christmas. It is a great wheel. I practice several hours a day almost every day. My only problem I have had with my wheel is keeping the wheel head level. It keeps shifting on me. As you know, that's a real problem.

    I was able to buy a full size (13.75" diameter) wheel from Walmart for around the same amount. I installed bat pins and have been using it for years with few problems (the only real problem is the foot pedal which sometimes needs adjusting.) I have used the more the expensive wheels and really don't see much difference.

    I'm not sure I'll ever get over watching you collar. You make it look so natural and easy. As usual, watching you throw is an absolute delight.

    I have an older version of this wheel with no foot petal and a lever that controls the speed. I have thrown over 300 pots on it and it still works like the first day I used it. Only complaint is that the pan does not stay together well and sometimes pops up while I am throwing. It makes a rubbing noise that is bothersome. It is a minor annoyance for an otherwise economical way to venture into throwing. Some day I may want a larger wheel, but it is fine for just starting out. This company now offers plastic bats, which were a game changer for me.

    Hey Matthew, I was thinking about getting one for a spray booth. Could this wheel go slow enough for that? Thanks

    Do you think I could travel with this one? I'm thinking about taking one from the US to Peru and maybe have it as a carry on ?

    • @MatthewKellyPottery
      @MatthewKellyPottery  3 місяці тому

      Possibly. The quark wheel seems like a better travel wheel but I haven’t reviewed one of those.

    I would have a hard time removing that 9-pounder off the wheel and I don't see any holes for bat pins. If you needed to use a bat, would you have to attach it with rings of clay on the wheel? Or do they provide a system fir bats?

    • @MatthewKellyPottery
      @MatthewKellyPottery  Рік тому +1

      You could used clay to attach a bat. I did that with the last wheel from Vevor. Or you could drill holes for bat pins

    • @gbennett58
      @gbennett58 Місяць тому

      You can install bat pins. Hsinchuen Lin has a video showing how. I did it with my inexpensive 14" wheel and it works great.

    Anyone have a problem with them sending a wheel that doesn’t plug into 110V in United States? They sent me a 180V wheel w a 220V plug. They are not replacing it but telling me to get a transformer. WtHeck. :(

    • @MatthewKellyPottery
      @MatthewKellyPottery  Місяць тому

      I have not heard that. I’m sorry to hear about that and I was worried that these issues might happen with a company with little to no regulation and nothing that can be done to right the wrongs.

    • @katiakatiakat
      @katiakatiakat Місяць тому

      Thanks for your reply. I have a feeling they just sent me the wrong machine and it’s not happening to others as I’ve seen good reviews on UA-cam. Hoping they’ll send me a proper one for US.
