Milwaukee drill bit stuck in chuck

- This is an alternative method to removing a stuck bit in a Milwaukee or other hand drill. This is not a guaranteed method for all cases. This has worked for us on several occasions. Try adding a small amount of 3 in 1 oil to the chuck area first. Always wear SAFETY GLASSES when striking any metal surface.
Thank you! Hammer helped get bit out eith only 2
small hits.
Sir!...still working on it...but I THANK YOU for taking YOUR time to present this..THANK YOU!
I sprayed the tip of the chock with WD-40, let it run into the bit, then hit the drill bit on a wooden railing a few times on both sides. Worked like a charm! Thanks for the instructions!
Had this happen twice. Quick and easy fix without banging it with a hammer is to lightly spray the bit inside the Chuck with some silicone / garage door oil. Let it sit a couple of minutes and place a rubber strap wrench around the chuck and turn it free. The oil is the key as I’ve tried it with only the strap wrench and couldn’t break it free. Once I used the oil with the strap wrench, it came out real easy. Hope this helps!!
Thanks a lot, I am a technician on a job right now and occasionally this happens and I don't have any clamps or vice grips or similar to use that method, but I luckily have a regular hammer and this worked
Watched a few other videos, this is the first one to get me in the right direction. Used some channel locks to help turn the chuck after a little spray of WD 40 and open right up. Been stuck forever.
Thanks for the video
WD-40 and a few taps on the side of the chuck. Worked great!
Just tried that! Bingo! Thanks man!
Thank you so much for this video! My crapsman (yes, I intentionally named it that way due to my dissatisfaction lately with this brand) decided to have a death grip on one of my bits. Glad I found your video! A few taps and some lubricant and out she goes!
Worked like a charm and after lubricating, it’s like new again
Thanks
Thanks I'm going to service all my chucks today with a little oil.
Hey! It worked!! I gave it a couple of whacks here and there on the chuck and it finally as possible to undone it!
(Stanley 12v drill)
Thanks a lot!
Glad it worked on another type of drill. Interesting. :)
Mark TheMan Yup. I used some of the same oil as yours, too. This little drill is very important in my job.
Thanks worked like a charm
Ran into this issue with a drill at work used by someone else previously. Had me stumped thinking I didn't know how to use this drill in particular or that there was some science to it because I'm a DeWalt user at home but this vid helped. Drill was sitting unused for months until I googled and found this vid. Thanks.
Thanks it worked. Awesome thank you thank you so much I just used what I had handy, which was my floor a large c-clamp banged on it a couple times and it finally worked. My Milwaukee is fairly new but used a lot and my bit was new. So whatever, but I'm going to give it some oil. Thanks again that was so simple and made a lot of sense 😅
Removed a 'stuck' screwbit from one of these recently. Put the screwbit in a vice (if there is enough sticking out of course) then place a block of wood against the dril chuck, followed by a sharp "tap" of a 2LB hammer (or something heavy) The chuck should slide off he screwbit if the vice is tightened enough. The one I did came off with the first knock on the hardwood block.
A quick fix on this occasion, but remember the drill is going to fall once it is off the bit, so be ready to catch it in some manner. Also, this chuck had been tightened originally by someone not of the same 'gorrilla' strength as myself, so a few taps of the hammer might be necessary to force the chuck off the bit. A squirt of WD40 first didn't hurt either.
Worked like a charm!! Thanks!!
Worked like a charm! Thank you!
Awesome,,,, Thank you great video... Drill is usable again..
Thanks!!!! It worked perfectly!
Man, if I found this video first I wouldn't wasted 2 hours on other methods on youtube! And plus I don't have all them fancy tools for the other methods.
THANK YOU MARK THE MAN.
Very helpful! Thanks!
So helpfully thanks
Gracias
thanks a lot, it did the trick. Much obliged
Glad to help! :)
I never had this problem on my old 19v craftsman. Same truck toolbox, all 4 seasons. Year after year never an issue. Not happy w Milwaukee
This tip works! M12 fuel
👍thanks!
Thanks. I'll try it.
My problem with this drill is the bit turns in it whenever I use it in hammer mode no matter how tightly I secure it. Not so with any other drill and this is my third one like it
My chuck just spins and has a bit stuck in it
I still can’t get my broken drill bit out I’m so annoyed
Thank you. Mine is brand new. Grrrr.
What do you think though with my surge impact driver? Stuck bit, now broke off... I nearly took the whole thing apart. Except the last part with the two screws behind the chuck. I’m kinda nervous to open that part lol any advice I’m desperate
Sorry bud, never used that item before.
Put it back together, WD40, then try this method. Impact drivers, in this particular case, aren't different enough to require a different method of attack.
Wow mr safety pants
Or keep ur Milwaukee out of rain and it won’t rust lmao 😂 just beat it with 2 hammers
I just put the chuck in a vice and use the leverage of the drill to twist ot lose while the chick is in the vice. Much easier
I usually do it this way too, but today even that isn't working for me, so I'm giving this a go.
haha, I imagine so. But not everyone travels with a vice in the vehicle.
OR,
Just put three to five drops of oil on the three teeth holding the bit in place,
wiggle it back and forth,
PRESTO!!
Yeah presto hahaha! What about when the chuck is broke and just spins??
Every time this video gets to a certain point, it just buffers and buffers
Ok, I'll ask.... why aren't **you** wearing gloves...?
Demonstrations don't require gloves. If you can't figure out what PPE to wear during tool use. Don't use them, lol
Don't make a video about something you're NOT going to record FOR SAID VIDEO
Spit it out
