I still lose my shit whenever I play this in the car full blast top down. Okay... people give me strange looks at the traffic light, but "hey... gotta have house music."
I've made a tutorial on the main chords, but the intro is the hardest part. It's a masterpiece that only the person who created it knows how to teach it. It can't be found anywhere, no lessons, no tutorials, nothing. :(
This gave me fucking goosebumps. I first learned about House a few years back. I took a “History of Dance Music” course my first year of college. I listen to nothing but House and Disco now
I remember when this debuted at Muzic Box. Ron Hardy must've played it 15X that night and we loved it more every time he played it!! LONG live the original Chicago House Music crew!!
@pex3 The last time it was open, I believe it was late 88'. I filmed a instagram documentary about it a few years back and filmed some of the footage down on Lower Wacker where it was.
Curtis McClain is the lead singer. he performed at Chosen Few 25th anniversary festival (2015) and you could feel the same energy with 50k fans screaming.
Its so funny, as I kid growing up in Chicago these records were MAGICAL to me.....but we never heard any info about any of the maestros behind them....now, w the magic of you tube we can. Its unbelievable :)
ask yourself how he made that piano intro when he says he can't play piano? i can play a bit and i couldn't do that. I could copy it, maybe but it would take ages to learn. He says he did it on a sequencer but 80s sequencers were really tricky to program and something as complicated as that would be a very long job.
Getting"GOOSEBUMPS" watching this as i can remember THEE very very VERY first time hearing this track, it was at CLUB ZANZIBAR (in my hometown of Newark NJ) YO!!! (i'll never forget this too) THAT PIANO RIFF with those SIZZLING HIGHS !!! .... and then : GOTTA HAVE HOUSE MUSIC ,ALL NIGHT LONG ....😲 .... 🤪😜😛😵👯😩😀😍🕺🙃😘⚡💥🤸🧚💃🙈🙉🙊 THE F'ING ROOM WENT BANANAS !!!!
This is the song that is going to help me get back to my goal weight! (along with a healthy diet of course) It is going into my workout playlist NOW!! This is freaking fantastic!!!💕💕💕
Everything comes from the same place, blues, jazz, soul, funk r&b, new jack, jackin, jackin house... The special thing about this song is that everything was without samples, everything was without tricks, it was sincere and authentic, yes, it is not a particularly high school song like Michael Jackson's, but that is what makes it even greater. No being a singing or music superstar, he showed that underground musicians can be just as good and memorable as those from the jet set. I have a special predilection for house and hip-hop from the 90s, but above all I love traditional black music, a lot of things from Africa and New Orleans. That for me is what always keeps me alive, and if I want electronic music to dance to I put on Marshall and all those who were great during his time. Thank you all for all your work, marshal, nuckles, atkins, saunderson, todd terry... I sincerely love you all.
How did he record that piano intro on a sequencer? it must have taken forever. He says he cant play piano and did it all on the sequencer but for some reason i find that hard to believe.
House music has basically made my life.
Same 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Now THIS is truly unsung, THANK YOU for telling the story of the black creators of house music.
Are you fucking drunk?
