I would like to add... That I've sourced an injector from company on ebay and got it for £30. I made a few errors putting the injector in by over tighting the injector retaining bolts, as I broke one. I did however get myself out of trouble. I found that there was a few other things to remove when removing injectors while the engine is still in the car. To you I say again, "Thank you very much your help, as your a role model for young lads to look up by giving something back." To thoese like me doing this job. Don't do what I forgot to do. And that is, "Always put clip back on the turbo hose as it makes all the difference to the power of the car." My car drives like a new car now and goes like a rocket.
My personal 2 recommendations/tips 1. When taking off the injector wiring loom( 1.25 ) use a pliers to pull on the tab have done this meany times never had any issues and easier to do 2. Sometimes injectors are more stuck than that tie a medium sizehammer to the end of the rope and use it as your slide hammer and it slide hammer and it works 100% of the time
Thanks so much I appreciate your training and I should proudly say your are one of the best trainers I have ever found simple, straightforward and technical informative...
Well, I've just finished after removing the injector loom and testing all injectors. I found the 2nd injector from the offside to be faulty. My next problem is... The difficulty in obtaining the injector from a breakers yard. As they just won't take the time to remove them or allow you to remove them. They just want to sell the whole engine. It takes the joy out of the enjoyment you have given me with your solid instruction and video. However, many thanks from an old wanabe mechanic. Subscribed and liked.
brilliant video. there are so many videos out there that all say you need the special tools for things like this. I know some jobs require a special tool but , as you just proved, not all do. thanks for sharing the knowledge. It's been really helpful.
It means Pumpe duse. Yes i should have said it will be in my shop, still building it at the moment. Than you for your email, I always appreciate your comments.
Thank you...I am currently removing the head of my BRM PD MK5, (ate a bunch of timing belt teeth before 100K). Scant precise information on the BRM repair processes, such as how to actually remove the injector electrical connectors, and DIY removal technique using the rope ;) It was clear and very helpful. PS one thread I read suggested putting a piece of rag in the oil return holes in the front of the head by the injectors. It said IF anything fell down the hole it is a major PITA to get it out.
Thanks, just took mine out with your help. I have found that by loosening it up by pressing with a screwdriver from side to side repeatedly until it was very loose, then used a pry bar and it popped out. Hope this detail will help someone else too,
The easier way to pop the injectors out is with a heel bar, hooked under the solenoid. I have popped all four out in 15 seconds, and it's more graceful that having them fly into the air.
Brilliant vid, thank you. I’ve currently got a Passat CR170 that’s spent 170k miles on the motorway, I’m expecting to do some maintenance soon. Thank you for the vid.
Ive watched a lot of your vids and they are pretty spot on and very helpful as i have had certain problems with my mitsubishi grandis (VW/AUDI 2.0 TDI ENGINE) keep it up m8 :)
Awesome video.......I have a junk engine (BEW code) that I kave been messing around with. This video helped out alot. I am removing all the expensive parts from the engine and saving them for a good engine.
Clear and Concise! I'm thinkig I have to change a "wiring harness" for my injectors to stop a stupid juddering problem I've got when going over 3000 revs (and the ESP light comes on), have you got a video for that please?
Hmmmn I see that your engine does not have a whole lot of stuff near , on, or around the valve cover that prevents an easy access like you demonstrated. Nice video clear and interesting.
Unfortunately not, but I took your advice and it is one of the Injectors. Using your video to remove it would have worked this morning but there is an engine part in the way... (the exhaust manifold? - the bit that goes into the EGR valve from the front of the car..) So I'm off to Halfords so they can sell me the right tool to get into that nook and remove that particular bolt! :)
It only matters about the order you TIGHTEN them in. Not undoing them. And it's usually only more if a thing with attaching the HEAD TO THE BLOCK. Not the crappy little rocker cover which usually doesn't go on very tight anyway.
I have a 2004 jetta tdi. it started cutting out. sometimes you can drive it 10 miles before it starts. and sometimes you can drive it hundred of miles and it wont do it. and sometimes it just starts right off the back doing it. do you have any ideas on what this might be? thanks jeana
Thanks mate Great video, I managed to take out the injector using your trick. Really helpful stuff. I found the injector spring not spring loaded anymore and the car was smoking, could it be the problem for the car to smoke? And the glow plug is wet
Hi. I have a seat Leon FR mk2 2.0tdi, Siemens injectors. I suspect the injector seals are leaking, I have replacement seals and bolts, once I have removed the injectors I am going to have them tested. However could you do a video explaining how to install them correctly. I'm under the impression that they have to be set up using a dti, while turning the cam and then setting the adjustment screw accordingly. I was hoping that with the same injectors going back in no adjustments would be required. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thankyou.
thanks for the information. i have a code on a 2005 jetta TDI for the #4 cyl i was ging to change the #4 to the #3 spot to see if i get a code or it is the wiring on the #4 if it was the wiring how do you replace that? or is there also adjustments on the injector i can do? thanks for your time
Ok, now i know how to get Those out. I'm working on a friend's 2006 Jetta, timing belt broke. It's the same engine as in this video. Can i remove the head while the engine is in the car? It's been a real PITA so far.
Hi buddy, if I remove the injectors with this method do I just plonk them back in after servicing and bolt them back down with no adjustments? No coding involved?
Hard to tell, it may need to go on to a computer to check the engine codes. It could be egr valve, flywheel and lots of other things. Are you local to London so we could look at it for you?
hi I have 2 faults on mine when used vag com scanner. fault 1 ... valve for pump jet cylinder 1 malfunction code 18074 could you tell me which is cylinder 1. Fault 2 cylinder 1 misfire code 16685 take it fault 2 is related to fault 1. is it worth changing the injector harness loom or injector 1 or both ?
I will do this tomoro i have a 1.2TDI PD engine and i think my rings on the injectors are bad but 1 question... do i need to ajust something after reasembling? or just put everything back and thats it?
yes it is...you xan buy an ultrasonic washer on amazon for about 50€ and clean them, but i dont know if its better to clean them open or closed, thats why another guy questioned about the voltage on the injector coil. Instead you can always go to a diesel shop anyhow...in case you do it by yourself, drain the diesel of the "rail on the head" because it's gonna fall on the oil pan and the combustion chambers! Take care of your engine!! ;)
Hi Bmac....question..i had a breakdown today and the rac guy told me it was number 1 injector circuit ..does that mean new injector or wire loom . he also said i couldn't do this myself as the injector needs to be programed to the car..is this right as i never heard of an injector needing programing....???
Just put some engine oil on the seals and push it back in with your hands. It's very important that the seals are oiled. That way, it will get in place easier and all the way and you will not damage the seal. I've done it multiple times with no issues in different cars.
hiya mate, quick question, im getting my camshaft changed on my 1.9 tdi, would you recommend injector seal replacement, whilst everything is out on open?
My Golf Mk 4 1.9 TDi SE has an issue while driving. The engine Judders at around 70mph. Then after a while the ESP light comes on and there is no power. Turn it off, it all clears and works fine for a bit. Help!!! I have changed the MAF, put Slick 50 in the fuel system, changed the filter. I can't think of what else I need to do.
+Alistair Bellamy-Brown 1. get obd2 bluetooth adapter from amazon 2. get obd2 "Torque" App from playstore 3. connect to your car 4. open Torque 5. read Fault Codes 6. do the repairs
Hello I m from India I have a skoda car with 1.9 tdi of engine. From some last days my car was hunting at 1500-2000 rpm. I scanned the car and got a code p1267 injector limit exceed cylinder 3. Can you help me what exactly problem. What should I do resolve the problem.
Hi, is the process similar for the 2.0 tdi (BKD) engine? I have a very slight lumpy idle (not dual mass flywheel) and the fuel filter is jet black after only about 5k miles, so I suspect the injector seals may be leaking. cheers (Y)
BMAC VAGS Cheers, just had a peek at the Haynes manual, looks pretty much the same. They recommend using a special tool, which they give you instructions on how to make, to pull the injectors.
Hi, Thanks for the upload, it looks so easy to remove the injectors.. I have one question, how many voltage power supply from the controller to power up this injectors?
i like this channel, i can learn alot to fix my car also, it has to much problems on the engine. but the red Oil lamp is lighting up, i cant tell what the service is telling because it is in german -_- i have changed the oil, changed the filter, etc. but the oil is screaming out about something i dondt know. and how do i fix gear problems? i have huuuuuge problem to gear down to 1 or 2. to get there i have to make my car stand still and put it on reverse then gear up to 1. wen i once gear up to 3, there is no chance to go back to 2. or 1. the third problem is the EGR ventil cleaned it. but not changed it. i have no idea how to fix or anything, do you have any ideas? this channel i just came up today and learned alot, gonna watch more of this wen i gonna fix my car :D thanks alot!
Hi im just wondering if you could help me, I have a 2003 1.9tdi Passat and im having a lot of trouble with it, I have being told that it possibly could be leaking injectors, when the car is cold its very hard to start (I have changed the glow plugs) as soon as it does start the engine doesn't rev up very well and the car gets very very smokey (white/blue smoke) also it seems to be very down on power and very sluggish to move until the turbo kicks in. its seems to be heavy on diesel. when the car is warm the smoke seems to go away,, would leaking injectors cause these problems..Thanks :)
Hello, Tommy! I think the turbo bad heart and the sump oil into the cylinders. You will stop the engine if you do not you go check the shaft curving downward! Laszlo

A seat belt strap works perfectly for removing the injectors also rock them left to right multiple times to free them slightly
