Man I love those pimple ads! It’s such a shame todays kids don’t have much acne anymore. Their destroying the pimple medication market, not to mention all those snake oil remedies! Lost Worlds is going on my radar! Great video buddy and thanks for the mention!

Snake Oil Remedies! Oh my goodness, I can only imagine those who fell for that! Being the nerd that I am, I gladly contributed to the market! I just happened to find Lost Worlds and I am hooked on the very limited series. Thank you for your comment and watching Captain!

Beautiful vintage comics! Nice mention of Ross Andru, he's one of my favorites.

Thank you for watching- Ross Andru has spanned many years and I first enjoyed his work on silver age Wonder Woman and bronze age and late 1970s Amazing Spider-Man (ASM).

I was a Bronze Age baby but, the 50's have become my favorite era in comics. Sometimes called the Atomic Age, the art and storytelling really became more sophisticated than anything from the previous Golden Age years. And the explosion of diversity (sci-fi, western, war, jungle, cartoon characters, adventure, horror, etc.) was glorious! With the Silver Age, this diversity of genres would slowly fade away as the superheroes would come to completely dominate comic books. And as you pointed out, the creativity and sophistication of the Atomic Age is perfectly demonstrated with that last story from EC's Impact #1: ''Master Race''. This Bernie Krigstein illustrated story is one of the most influential story in the whole history of the comic book artform. Kudos for having this in your collection! And the rest of the books you showed are all very, very interesting! Not one single dud here. That first Out of this World cover is awesome! It could almost be the banner for your channel. Never seen any copies of Lost Worlds anywhere! Alex Toth? Yes please! Sign me up! And to answer your question toward the end of the video: almost every single issues of EC books are well worth the read, but my favorites are the Harvey Kurtzman edited war books ( Two-Fisted Tales & Frontline Combat).

Thank you for watching Ranger Sly and for commenting on the books that you enjoyed including Two-Fisted Tales and Frontline Combat. I enjoy the EC reprints to get a chance to read the stories. I enjoy the Atomic Age and space flight and the fantasy of traveling in the galaxy. The 1950s offered a lot of that. I liked your comment regarding the diversity of genres and unfortunately how they faded away as superheroes arose. It is fun jumping between genres. It is always a joy seeing you here Ranger Sly! Maybe we run into each other on the Four Color Fossils!

    Thank you very much!
What a coincidence - I always refer to that Steve Ditko story about those
revolting robots when I speak with my friends about AI! Another fun
coincidence - I read the second comic
book you presented ( Lost Worlds ) only
a few days ago, delighted about
finding early Ross Andru art there.
And another robot, here landing on
the moon which wasn't that far from
    reality either..!
And yes - I also missed the giant ants..!
    Greetings from a rainy Sweden

May the sun shine bright in Sweden! Your comment brightened my day. What a fun coincidence that you read Lost Worlds. At first I knew nothing about the book and then I read more. Yes, no ants unfortunately. Thank you for watching Michael, may all be good with you!

Great concept. I dig the time machine! Some very sharp-looking covers plucked from the timestream -- the Out of this World clock cover has always been a favorite.

Thank you for your comment Jason! Sometimes pulling these books from the space-time continuum can be rough on the time machine. From the beginning I have been using this clunker of an old parking meter to time travel! Thanks for your comment!

When I was a kid I never liked anthologies, but now they are some of my favorite comics. The anthologies I read are war and sci fi from Charlton and Marvel in the Bronze Age , I also like some of the western anthologies from most companies.

😍🎶TAANDA🎶TAANDA 🎶Tahn da ! Parking Meet , Here at Leo's Travel Station where you'll get a full tank of entertainment! Favorite EC book is ShockSuspense which tended the seed for what might have been a major development in 1950s comics history - the development of non stereotypical racial depictions , an event that was groundbreaking in issue #18 (1953) of Weird Fantasy with the story "Judgement Day" a much more , IMO , impacting narrative than " Master Race". Harvey Comics was boldly providing that development over in Little Audrey's book that same year of 1953 with the inclusion of Tiny , a non stereotypical Black youngster who was part of the trio of close knit friends that included Audrey and Melvin. Tiny was not only featured on the covers of Little Audrey and in adventures with his friends but also had his own back up feature in the book. The true "horror" that caused the controversy that led to the CCA was the possibility that racial identities would no longer be comfortably contained. The CCA restrained that revolutionary reality in comics , Westerns maintained either the pleasing "savage menace" trope or the " civilized buckskin conformist " character (s) and whenever minorities appeared post code that were returned to their proper positions and portrayals. The 50s provided possibilities in penetrating perspectives but parental guidance prevented that promising pilgrimage. Studying what comics offered in the 1950s and speculation on what growth could have been nurtured within those diverse genre publications is a worthwhile one.

I am glad that you found this video and more importantly Taanda, an early Sheena or Shanna? Thank you for your interesting note about the perspective in the 1950s and the facts about Little Audrey and EC books. That makes me want to read some more comics! I find the Comic Code Authority and the Seduction of the Innocence history unique and the fact that comics as a medium was considered threatening. Much like my other favorite hobby of Pinball that was deemed to encourage delinquency and banned by Mayor LaGuardia in New York. And later video games in 1993-94 when strict labels had to be presented on those depicting violence. Thank you for you comments always Anthony!
